  1. As we progress through the season, do you see the staff prioritizing a certain position in the transfer portal? I'm assuming it will be in the front 6-7 (DL/LBs)on defense but just curious as to what you are hearing.
  2. Tulane 49 UNT 31 Me- anger that we are 3-4 on the verge of being 3-5
  3. I received this via email from the ticket office. The Mean Green Football team defeated the Temple Owls 45-14! 4. Coffee, emails, it's cold. Tulane scares me....
  5. Thank you both, I enjoy writing them!
  6. Normally, I do an observations write up after each game. However, the Temple game was a blow out. We played complementary football, didn't turn the ball over, and our defense pitched a shut out during the second half. I am very happy that we were able to dominate and get our first conference win in the American. With that being said, I thought I would do a quick write up of where we currently stand. There have been several growing pains this season. The Cal game was not close, but the others have all been winnable. If we took advantage of certain situations, we would be 5-1 right now. However spoiler alert, we did not and we currently are 3-3 with the toughest stretch of games on the horizon. I really do think that the team is starting to buy into Coach Morris' program. There is a ton of enthusiasm on the sideline and the guys are playing really hard for him. The next few weeks will determine if we make a bowl game or not. Our offense will keep us in games, and I hope that our defense continues to improve. If we can some how win 3 of these next 6 games and make a bowl, I will be thrilled! One last thing before I jump into the stats, thanks so much to @Harry and the other members that started the Mean Green Collective. We have seen several posts these last few months about starting a program to support our athletes. If you enjoy reading content on this free board, please think about donating to the collective. We have over 10,000 members on this site. Even a small amount will help out with the cause. Alright, so I got creative in Excel this morning (I'm putting that UNT Business Degree to use). Below you will find some visuals for our Top Statistical Leaders as well as our Total Defense/Offense by game. Offensively we are currently averaging 478 yards a game. Defensively we are giving up 461 yards a game. On offense, we have been pretty balanced all year long with 52% rushing plays against 48% passing plays. Ayo Adeyi is our leading rusher with 481 yards on the year. However, we use multiple running backs throughout the game. Oscar Adaway and Isaiah Johnson have been solid all year long. Their stats are almost identical as both are averaging about 40 yards a game. Chandler Rogers has played really good football for us this season. He was an absolute steal in the portal this offseason. He is calm in the pocket, makes great reads, and doesn't turn over the football. Dare I say, he is the best QB we have had since Mason Fine? I am certainly starting to lean that way. Chandler currently has a 64% completion percentage with 1419 yards and 12 TDs. Ja"Mori Maclin has been our leading WR with 587 yards and 8 TDs. This has been another great addition from the transfer portal. He is electric and makes so many great plays for us. I have enjoyed watching him this season. Roderic Burns has also played great for us this season. He has the most receptions with 27 for 275 yards. The defense has been trending in the right direction these last few games. The first few weeks were not good. I don't love the 3-3-5, but it has been nice to see the defense playing better. We essentially lost our best LB and DB to the portal, and have played a lot of younger guys. This defense doesn't get a lot of sacks, and has struggled against the run. However, they are improving, and making stops when they need to. The next few weeks will be a big challenge for them. Jordan Brown and Logan Wilson are the leading tacklers with 41. Kevin Wood and Mazin Richards each have 2 sacks on the year. Redshirt Freshman Ethan Wesloski and Patrick Smith have been solid contributors this year with 31 and 30 tackles. Phil Hill, Jaylen Smith, Carson Kropp, Ridge Texada, Nick Nakwaasah, John Davis, and Evan Jackson all have 1 INT on the year. These next few weeks will determine if the first season of the Eric Morris regime is successful or not. I hope we make a bowl game, but it is ultimately up to the players and coaches. Lets continue to support these guys. GMG!
  7. We won, I had beers, great weekend!
  8. Memphis and Tulane tonight at 6 pm. I'm interested to watch this one as we play both in the next 2 weeks.
  9. He tweeted a pic with Coach O and it looks like he came to a game. So it could still be a legit offer.
  10. No lederhosen this week?
  11. Demps has been open about visiting other schools.
  12. Temple 42 UNT 31 Please prove me wrong
  13. If you go to our recruiting forum on here, you will see that we have offers to a few JUCO guys from out of the state. I'm sure we will continue to add out of state guys from the transfer portal this year. You're not a very good troll.
  14. The opening drive of the game foreshadowed how it was going to ultimately end, disappointment. On the first drive we drove the ball down the field, and failed to convert in the red zone. The defense then bailed us out, and we were able to drive the ball down the field again. However, a dropped pass in the end zone stalled the drive, and we had to kick a FG. We could have easily been up 14-0 here, but poor execution doomed us. I think the most frustrating thing from this game was the offense's inability to come up with adjustments to stop the Navy pass rush. Our OL gave up 8 sacks to Navy and 2 of the sacks resulted in lost fumbles. We knew they were going to bring pressure all week. Why did we not help our QB out by having a TE or RB stay back to block? I am not a coach by any means, but that was hard to watch. The inability to stop the pass rush impacted our 3rd down conversions as well. We had a measly 18% conversion rate this week. Our offense remained balance this week, 33 passes vs 36 runs (48% vs 52%). We rushed for 206 yards and passed for 267 yards, a total of 473 yards. The defense played better than we expected. . Navy was able to win the time of possession battle (33:55 vs 26:05) and do just enough to beat us. The defense did squander 406 yards to Navy, but they are not the sole reason we lost this game. The guys played tough and made when stops when they needed too. We failed to play complementary football this week. We had the ball with less than 2 minutes left, and had a chance to either tie the game up or win it. However, our inability to stop the Navy pass rush forced us to turn the ball over on downs. One positive from the game is that we had zero penalties. It was nice to see that we cleaned that up at least. I normally write up about individual performances, but I don't have it in me this week. This game was frustrating, and if we don't make a bowl game this year, the Navy and FIU games are going to be the main culprits of why we didn't. As the great @TheReal_jayD said, we are a couple of plays away from being 4-1 right now. Unfortunately, we are now 2-3 with a tough stretch of games on the horizon. Temple is certainly a winnable game. The guys just need to execute better and the coaching staff needs to make better in game adjustments. I'm not throwing the towel in yet, but I am not feeling great about the next few weeks.
  15. Big stop by the defense. Let's respond offense.
  16. Quick burst off the ball. His pad level is a little high on some of the plays. FBS OL will take advantage of that. However, we need depth on the DL so I'm not going to complain about a DL that's interested in coming here.
  17. Nice job Billy, I enjoyed listening to the podcast this morning.
  18. "Emphasis on former"
  19. Yeah I heard that as well.
  20. Yep, and the Dad was busted for selling steroids a few years ago as well.
  21. Baby Gronk's Dad is probably having a stroke right now. He was taking his 10 year old around the country to colleges and doing these photoshoots. For those that don't know about this fraud, do a quick Google search.
  22. The helicopter parents had to come check on their kiddos this past weekend. 3PM kickoff vs Cal scared off the average fan.
  23. Yes, I noticed this as well.
