  1. Temple 42 UNT 31 Please prove me wrong
  2. If you go to our recruiting forum on here, you will see that we have offers to a few JUCO guys from out of the state. I'm sure we will continue to add out of state guys from the transfer portal this year. You're not a very good troll.
  3. The opening drive of the game foreshadowed how it was going to ultimately end, disappointment. On the first drive we drove the ball down the field, and failed to convert in the red zone. The defense then bailed us out, and we were able to drive the ball down the field again. However, a dropped pass in the end zone stalled the drive, and we had to kick a FG. We could have easily been up 14-0 here, but poor execution doomed us. I think the most frustrating thing from this game was the offense's inability to come up with adjustments to stop the Navy pass rush. Our OL gave up 8 sacks to Navy and 2 of the sacks resulted in lost fumbles. We knew they were going to bring pressure all week. Why did we not help our QB out by having a TE or RB stay back to block? I am not a coach by any means, but that was hard to watch. The inability to stop the pass rush impacted our 3rd down conversions as well. We had a measly 18% conversion rate this week. Our offense remained balance this week, 33 passes vs 36 runs (48% vs 52%). We rushed for 206 yards and passed for 267 yards, a total of 473 yards. The defense played better than we expected. . Navy was able to win the time of possession battle (33:55 vs 26:05) and do just enough to beat us. The defense did squander 406 yards to Navy, but they are not the sole reason we lost this game. The guys played tough and made when stops when they needed too. We failed to play complementary football this week. We had the ball with less than 2 minutes left, and had a chance to either tie the game up or win it. However, our inability to stop the Navy pass rush forced us to turn the ball over on downs. One positive from the game is that we had zero penalties. It was nice to see that we cleaned that up at least. I normally write up about individual performances, but I don't have it in me this week. This game was frustrating, and if we don't make a bowl game this year, the Navy and FIU games are going to be the main culprits of why we didn't. As the great @TheReal_jayD said, we are a couple of plays away from being 4-1 right now. Unfortunately, we are now 2-3 with a tough stretch of games on the horizon. Temple is certainly a winnable game. The guys just need to execute better and the coaching staff needs to make better in game adjustments. I'm not throwing the towel in yet, but I am not feeling great about the next few weeks.
  4. Big stop by the defense. Let's respond offense.
  5. Quick burst off the ball. His pad level is a little high on some of the plays. FBS OL will take advantage of that. However, we need depth on the DL so I'm not going to complain about a DL that's interested in coming here.
  6. Nice job Billy, I enjoyed listening to the podcast this morning.
  7. "Emphasis on former"
  8. Yeah I heard that as well.
  9. Yep, and the Dad was busted for selling steroids a few years ago as well.
  10. Baby Gronk's Dad is probably having a stroke right now. He was taking his 10 year old around the country to colleges and doing these photoshoots. For those that don't know about this fraud, do a quick Google search.
  11. The helicopter parents had to come check on their kiddos this past weekend. 3PM kickoff vs Cal scared off the average fan.
  12. Yes, I noticed this as well.
  13. Waffle House and morning beers. Looking forward to the game!
  14. 16 years ago, we played Navy and loss with a whopping score of 74 to 62. As sad as that score was, I think we might see something similar this week. Navy 56 UNT 45
  15. I think we will see a different defense this week. The triple option will force more guys in the box. If we decide to not tackle, it's going to be a long game. Right now, we run a mix of 3 and 4 man fronts. The triple option will force the defense to hold their gaps and key on certain players. The DTs/LBs will need to wrap up the FB every play. The DEs and OLBs will need to be responsible for the pitchman. Our Safety will need to come down and hit the RBs as soon as they receive the pitch. Here is a good article about defending the triple option. https://www.bloggersodear.com/2017/10/20/16508088/georgia-tech-wake-forest-paul-johnson-spread-offense-understanding-and-defending-the-triple-option
  16. Our offense will keep us in games. Our defense will make games closer than they need to be. I like how direct and down to earth he is. The DFW recruiting approach is nice as well. If we can continue to add guys from the area, this should set us up for success. Things I don't like, the 3-3-5 defense, and the lack of additions from the transfer portal. We better hit the portal hard this off season. I want more players rotating on the front 6/7.
  17. It was nice to see our Mean Green win at home. Yes, it was against an FCS opponent. Yes, the defense gave up a lot of points. However, some of us are still scarred from the Portland State loss in 2015. So with that being said, at least the team did what they were supposed to against Abilene Christian WIN. It seems we were able to get more pressure on the QB this week. We had 6 QB hurries, 2 sacks, 5 pass breakups, and 1 INT. We gave up 387 yards this week, which is a big improvement from the first 2 weeks (679 vs Cal and 514 vs FIU). On offense, we had 40 rushes for 209 yards and 36 (23 completions) passes for 321 yards. We produced a total of 530 yards. Chandler continues to be turnover free throwing the ball. We had 1 fumble on offense, but luckily it went out of bounds. The team had 6 penalties for 65 yards tonight. This is better than the 9 we had last week against La Tech. One interesting thing to note is we stayed pretty balanced on offense. 36 pass plays versus 40 run plays (47% vs 53%), the same percentages as the week before. One last thing to note before jumping into the individual observations, we had a decent crowd for parents weekend. The announced attendance was 21,494. Observations: Chandler Rogers continued to be efficient and made numerous plays last night. He had a great command of the offense and did a fantastic job throwing the ball. He completed around 64% of his passes (23-36) for 321 yards and 3 TDs. Additionally, he ran for 29 yards and 1 TD. I am impressed with his poise in the pocket and ability to make plays with his legs when needed. It's also great that he doesn't turn the ball over. I love competent QB play. Ja'Mori Maclin (80 yard TD) and Damon Ward (18 and 17 yard TDs) caught the 3 touchdown passes. Freshman Landon Sides had a big night as well. He got his first start and made the most of it with 5 catches for 61 yards Ayo Adeyi had another great game. He had several big runs for us last night. He ended up rushing for 110 yards. Isaiah Johnson had a good game this week, as he rushed for 39 yards and 2 TDs. Nick Nakwaasah was our leading tackler with 6 total (3 solo). He had a big hit in the 2nd half that the social media team tweeted out. There was one PI against him that if he just turned his head around, he probably would have made the INT. Regardless, I am glad to see him healthy and playing. Jordan Brown and Kevin Wood each had 5 tackles tonight. Bryce Linder also had 5 tackles. Shoutout to Mazin "Amazing" Richards who had 2 tackles, 2 for loss, 1 sack, and 2 QBH. Freshman Evan Jackson recorded his first INT tonight. It's great to see these young kids make plays. It's also worth noting that freshman Jayven Anderson, Taylor Starling, and Brian Nelson II played some tonight. It will be interesting to see if they keep playing or take a redshirt. Next week will be an interesting test for the defense. I expect to see our DL and LBs make a lot of plays against Navy. Let's hope they are up for the challenge of stopping the Navy triple option attack. I enjoy writing these summaries more after victories. GMG!
  18. It looks like Gumms is getting some playing time against the College Station Cult today. He just caught his first pass of the season.
  19. Will the NT Daily start using the correct player pictures after this change?
  20. If you ever own a house in Texas, you are taxed. We have ridiculous property taxes here, but that's a conversation for another day. Part of those taxes go to the local school district. Prosper has had an influx of wealthy people. Therefore, the tax base has grown. If there are not enough funds to build a stadium, the community would vote to issue a Municipal Bond to fund the stadium. It's funny that you mention academics when you forgot to end your sentence with a period.
  21. UNT 52 ACU 21 I think there will be a lot of offense in this one.
  22. Baylor, Oklahoma St, Houston, and Texas A&M could all be open in a few months.
