Calling This Before I Can Say "I Told You So"
jtm0097 replied to rojomojo's topic in Mean Green Basketball
There is a lot of asphalt for the bikes in The Netherlands. That's the preferred method of transportation. Amsterdam is an interesting city. I personally enjoyed the Albert Cup market and De Pijp neighborhood. -
Any commits from Duncanville or North Shore?

Not any that have announced. -
Transfer Commit: WR Dalton Carnes, Houston:
jtm0097 replied to UNTLifer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
@TheReal_jayD can give the exact number, but we didn’t sign a full class last year. Additionally, we have lost quite a bit in the portal. Before the portal exodus, we had 32 spots open. -
Transfer Commit: WR Dalton Carnes, Houston:

We have 40 plus open spots. I'll take a guy that played in Big 12 games and produced. Hell is freezing over, I'm agreeing with Cougar lol. -
December 2023: Interesting Portal Entries (Non-UNT)
jtm0097 replied to UNTLifer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
This will be his 3rd transfer in 3 seasons. I know someone that has a connection to Sam. Not sure where he ends up, but I told my contact to tell him to look at UNT. -

Breaking: North Texas lands 2 HUGE Commitments on D

2 more committed today. We flipped La Tech WR commit Mason Ferguson. Also, former Argyle/TCU TE/OL Jasper Lott has decided to transfer here. I believe his Dad has a link to the football program. -

Ohio kids are tough and gritty. We need that on the defense. Don't show this to the "the teams going to suck because they don't recruit out of state kids crowd". Always happy to take local guys that were getting interest from big schools. The staff is working to fix the defense, and that excites me. -
Cal lands North Texas QB transfer Chandler Rogers
jtm0097 replied to cousin oliver's topic in Mean Green Football
"It’s a roller coaster honestly, you have your highs and lows," Rogers said. At the same time when you get to the destination that I would like to get, which is the NFL, it’ll all be worth it. A lot growing pains throughout the process. You get to see the business side of college football, a lot of people don’t realize the situation you’re going through until you get there because they show and tell you what you want to hear. When you’re actually there is when you begin to realize the situation you’re in.” I'll sum it up. Tampering started and I was offered $$$. https://www.si.com/college/cal/news/cal-nil-1-million -
Even my LSU Online one took 2 years. Come on Lifer lol.

What's the explanation? Morris-You're our returning starter, the North Texas Collectives are going to try and take care of you. Cal Collective- Hi, I'm a tech dork with Silicon Valley money, if we give you a 6 figure check will you come be our QB? Rogers- See ya later UNT.
-
Adaway- if he wants to leave that's not a big issue to me. He played his tail off for 4 years here and got a degree. This is not a ground and pound offense. Maclin- P5 bounceback, we knew he was leaving early in the season. Does it suck to lose him, yes but we knew this was happening. Look at the number of WRs we have been targeting this cycle. Rogers- This one really sucks to lose. I know this caught the staff off guard. I'm concerned about losing him. On a different note, this will be Rogers 5th school, so we should have known he was a flight risk. Miner- He's more than likely following the OL coach that recruited him here. He was our highest scoring PFF OL. However, we do have a C/G from GA Tech that will replace him. Or we move Duncan over to his spot. We have 40 spots open, time to see how the staff fills it out. I'm not sad that we lost guys Littrell recruited that barely saw the field. Now if they don't get quality guys in here to fill the roster, I'll be in the WTF category as well.

Good riddance. The majority of our players leaving were told it might be better for them to move on. Hell most of them are getting FCS offers. Only a few are getting FBS looks (Miner, Febehchi, Maclin, Rogers, Adaway). If they can't handle the environment at North Texas, good luck playing at a lower level school.

Considering this was a Big Visit Weekend,

Some of the visitors were already committed. Hopefully we hear more news this week. -
Does Rodgers have any legitimate offers?
jtm0097 replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
He's going to Cal, news just broke. -
Why Does This Young Man Not Have Any Offers?

I went ahead and sent his hudl link to our DL and DC. Maybe they will take a look for us. -
Why Does This Young Man Not Have Any Offers?
jtm0097 replied to UNTLifer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
There could be a number of things that are influencing his lack of offers such as him being a late bloomer, grades, attitude, etc. Sometimes, coaches will not vouch for their players as well. This happened to a guy I played with. He ended up having to play D3 ball instead of D1, even though he was the best athlete on the field. A coaching change mid year screwed his offers (before the age of Twitter). I don't know the young man, but he has the size to play. Honestly, he reminds me of that DL from Flower Mound that came here last spring. I don't believe he made the fall roster. Maybe he's a PWO candidate similar to the kid from Flower Mound. -
He was committed to us for a short amount of time. However, he ultimately decided to go to UCONN. It looks like he had 2 receptions for 21 yards this year. I hope he enjoyed his time on the 3-9 independent UCONN Huskies. I hear Connecticut is a nice place to visit on your way from New York to Boston this time of the year.

Update number 2, never played in a game. When he transferred to Duke, I wonder if he thought that he was transferring for a free education and zero playing time. I would take a free Duke MBA, but that has to be disappointing for him to pass on UNT at the last minute to never stepping on the field at Duke.

'24 DL Offer: Jaedon Langley, FW Boswell: No Rating
jtm0097 replied to UNTLifer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Oh yes, the QB who is deciding between the NFL Draft and 7 figure NIL deals. We should call and offer him a lifetime deal to NY SubHub. Sorry, I am not trying to be an ass. We just don't have a shot. -
Commit number 2: Before someone starts complaining that he played QB in high school. Take a look at the amount of yards he's rushed for, 1,919 and 30 TDs.
-
Damn, I hate to hear that. The staff must have a QB secretly committed and doesn't want to show their cards. Regardless, we need to get a transfer QB committed ASAP.
