  1. Bought 5 earlier today. Trying to make my travel plans. Does anyone know where the festivities will be? I thought I heard RV say the Omni but if so -- which one? Also, will they have busses running from the hotel to Fair Park?
  2. Thank goodness for our special teams
  3. This I thought it was well done and very funny. Amazing how 7-3 can bring out school pride in the students. Great video
  4. Not on my cell phone
  5. Meant to say " without being attacked".
  6. Ok but mg 61 has posted for years that he doesn't go to games (Going back to to the first board). That's fine. Nothing wrong with that. However, people that actually go to the games and spend their money and time on this program should be able to complain about the obvious with being attacked by those that don't go.
  7. Not sure how that helps Mack's reputation. He landed Chris Simms but benched Major Applewhite to do it. Simms won a lot of games but was known for choking in the big games -- whereas Applewhite is remembered as a winner. He also recruited McCoy who was a 3 star recruit at the time. I don't think McCoy had lots of offers from other programs. Perhaps they saw something in McCoy that no one esle saw. If so, they were smarter than eveyone else. However, I think McCoy was recruited to be a good back-up up to Vince Young/Jevan Snead and they simply lucked into greatness . . . Vince Young was the only highly recruited qb that met the hype. Even then, they had to change their offlense to fit VY's style. Conversly, look at Gilbert -- higly recruited but an obvious bust . . . . .
  8. What I find interesting is the fact that LA Tech's offensive coordinator had just come back from recruiting "all over California" - http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--louisiana-tech-won-t-play-in-bowl-despite-9-3-record--karl-malone-rips-school-033353941.html I wonder if we recruit California? If they can recruit a quality quarterback to go to Rustin, Surely we could do the same and get one to come to Denton. . . . . .
  9. The Mountain West may want back in the Texas/DFW market . . . . . . . . .
  10. The announcers said the passing routes across the middle were open all day - and they seamed to work well in the first half. Then with a 14 point lead we got ultra conservative even before the pick 6. If I remember correctly, we were backed up on our own goal before the pick 6 and ran 3 straight plays. We were lucky and got a personal foul that extended the drive and then proceeded to run it again 2 more times leaving a long 3rd down which we didn't convert. The one pass we did try that resulted in the pick 6 was to the sideline which is really the most risky pass we could attempt. If you are willing to pass it in the first half and are able to do it sucessfully, you should be willing to pass it with a 14 point lead with 10 minutes left in the game.
  11. those uniforms would be a great way to enter conf usa . . . .awesome.
  12. The ACC will likely fill Maryland's spot with Connecticut. The BE will then have to fill U Conn's spot and Rutgers. This means that the BE will have to take two teams from CUSA if it is to survive. The BE could implode but it seems more likely that it will just simply take ECU +1 but none of the Eastern schools from CUSA currently playing D1 football come from big markets (other than FIU and I can’t see that happening). All bets are off if the Big twelve takes Florida State and Louisville. If CUSA implodes I’m hoping that we can fill TCU’s old spot in the Mountain West. We just need to be proactive in this mess.
  13. I wonder if it's an admissions issue. I'm guessing it's easier for players to get in at ULM than it is at UNT. Why else would all of these Texas players leave to play at Monroe? If it's not that -- then our program has been grossly negligent over the years . . . . . .
  14. I think their attendance is still pretty good but it will be interesting to see how that plays out as they start to play better competition. http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/college_sports/utsa/article/Are-UTSA-students-seceding-as-losses-keep-3994969.php?cmpid=twitter
  15. I'm guessing that they are providing transportation as the flights in and out of Ruston are probably not "ideal".
  16. my law partner told me about a guy that we should be recruiting and he sent me information about the kid and the coach etc. He's apparently being recruited by BYU and UH but BYU is a long way away and UH has a coaching vacancy. Thus, there might be some interest. Does anyone know how I can get this to the right person at UNT? Any information is appreciated. Thanks
  17. Wow. So last year at this time he's turning down 3 million a year at Vandy and signing a multi-year deal with Auburn for 1.3 million a year. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2010/12/auburn_offensive_coordinator_g_1.html Now he gives up 500K a year to take the job at ASU? He must have been under a lot of pressure without Cam Newton. Not sure how they can afford to pay him 800K a year but that's great if it forces us to do do the same. The reality is that we will need to stay competitive salary wise if we want to win.
  18. I like his reporting and consider him to be realist about the situation. However, there is a distasteful element when he gets negative in the blog about the state of UNT football. For me – I think it has to do with the fact that he has the imprimatur of being a beat writer from a valid media outlet (Belo/DRC) but is also able to render opinions in his blog about matters some of which are subjective in nature. Take for example the “cupboard is bare” debate. When a journalist is allowed to delve into this discussion daily, it allows the journalist/blogger to make excuses for or be critical of the coaching staff (depending upon the position he takes). I generally don’t like it when the distinction between journalist and commentator is blurred. However, I’m guessing that sport's journalists are encouraged and perhaps even instructed to blog daily in order to drive page hits. Additionally, I must admit there is a lot of good information that comes out his blog event if I don't like the way it's said sometimes.
  19. Sunbelt newtwork games are almost always on ESPN Gameplan and the Texas Channel (Time Warner).
  20. I agree. This would be a huge move up. Any edge we can get in recruiting against, Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, Ark State, etc would be good. I never understood how they could come into DFW and get players that UNT wanted. I also never understood how we lose players to the Southland schools either. Anyway, TCU will likely devolve into the next Baylor of the Big 12 . . . . .competitive once every 10 years. The same is probably true for SMU/UH in the BE as i think it's very difficult for schools with their type of attendance to be competitive year in and year out in an AQ conference. If so, this would leave a void for us to fill allowing us to be the the next TCU or Houston which would be a definite improvement.
  21. We had a bunch of people dressed as "bleacher gray" last week. That doesn't show up very well on tv. . . . .
  22. Baylor had over 35K last night for ISU. Yes, the are ranked (25) but they were playing ISU, were coming off a loss, with the same weather/ALCS issues as our fan base. They are also a lot smaller in terms of alumni/student base. If we can't at least draw half of what Baylor draws (regardless of opponent/record) were in bigger trouble than we realize. As said above - it's time to start giving away tickets . . . .holding high school band nights etc
  23. I don't remember such a sparsely attended game in October -- even during the Dodge years when we were losing big time. I'm just curious -- from 2005 through today -- have we had any games this poorly attended in Oct?
  24. The attendance is pathetic. Very poor showing by the students -- they should be embarrassed.
