Wanted to let everybody on gmg.com that I am okay & the tornado narrowly missed my home Saturday morning in Bowling Green KY. My home escaped damage and we were not injured. One street over (i.e., Rockwood Dr., Briarwood Ct) was hit and is a catastrophe. Many homes were destroyed in my neighborhood, and some are still without power. Power came back up last evening at my home. Strangely there are traffic jams everywhere in Bowling Green. Thousands of cars streamed through my neighborhood over the weekend, and most were onlookers. Unexpected is all I can say about the traffic.

If North Texas wins today of UTSA, S. Littrell will return next year and could have an outstanding team next year. NT played a lot of young players and these players got valuable experience. That could make NT a "monster' next year.

It looks like UNT has stamina issues and a short bench (7 player rotation). Not a good combination. The players will play their way into shape but it is relative because so will all other teams rotating 8 to 10 players. Also, a lot of missed open shots. College players should be hitting these shots most of the time. UNT is facing good competition and that will make them better at the expense of some losses. I am ok with this as long as the players develop and improve from it.

Varsity App worked for the UTEP game. But it only works on my iPad not PC. Sure wish KNTU would carry the games online. Very much enjoyed listening to Bill Mercer yesterday who as a special guest during the game broadcast. He still has a great radio voice and smooth delivery. Brought back good memories from my days at North Texas.

For the first time in over 10 years, I was unable to listen to a UNT football game online. Yes I downloaded the Varsity app and it did work for the first 7 games. I live 765 miles away from Denton so I can't listen to the radio like most of you can. Would like to punch the damn digerati responsible right in the f****** mouths.

Rudder has 34 yds passing....really? That is horrifically bad.

Prefer Mountain West for UNT, although I would be disappointed if AF & BSU left. Not sure about the long travel. Seems tough for sports like basketball and women's soccer/softball with long seasons. But with online classes now it can be done.

Bassey had 11 rebounds in the second half which helped them with their come back. But Simmons performance against Bassey was just superb and he held his own against a 1st team all American last night. I thought Resse had a good tournament despite being off on his shots. He does a lot of things that helps us win games.

WKU should still win the CUSA tourney IMHO. They lost by 6 points to WV and Memphis and beat 6th ranked Alabama earlier this season. I think not having their 3 point sharpshooter against UH really changed the chemistry this WKU team. Luke Frampton didn't even make the the trip to UH. UH didn't have to worry about the 3 point threat much and so double and triple teamed Bassey. Oh well, WKU just isn't deep enough to compete sometimes against top 25 teams but if they stay healthy, I expect WKU will win our conference tournament.

Here in Bowling Green: Streets are clear, never lost power, potable water. 13°F this morning but warming up to the 30s today. 1.5" ice with 3" snow on top. Certainly nothing weather related here to warrant cancelling a college BB game. Many High School games were played last night. Game could have been moved here easily, but I agree with the decision to cancel. No way WKU gets another damn home game against NT until they visit Denton a few times.

Fort Campbell has routinely made Hopkinsville off-limits to enlisted men. "Bird" Averitt also played H.S. basketball in Hopkinsville, KY. And just to be clear, WKU is 8-4 (last 3 years) against P5 men's basketball programs. UNT must progress the men's program to the next level. I hope that we go 3-0 against WKU this year. Believe me because I work with lots of WKU alums and many of my friends up here are WKU graduates. But if Bassey & Hollingsworth stay healthy at WKU, don't count on winning more than 1 game against them if that.

How many 50+ yards & untouched "up the gut" running plays did UTSA pull off against UNT yesterday ? Seems like 3 or 4. And UTSA has had a football program for 10 years versus UNT's 103 yrs. UNT has to take this football program to the next level. If there wasn't an emergency meeting scheduled for today by Baker, there should be. The lack of urgency at UNT & the acceptance with losing and being among the very worst in the country is astounding.

WKU has quietly signed a 4 star recruit from Marshall County KY also. WKU's brand of excellence in Basketball is undeniable.4-star Zion Harmon signs with WKU Basketball (wbko.com) And as Cooley pointed out, WKU has signed a 7'3" JUCO player from Hopkinsville KY who is also listed as a 4 star recruit now. Stansbury Announces Signing of Nation’s Top JUCO Player Jamarion Sharp (wbko.com) I question Jamarion's talent level as he didn't even start his junior year of high school though. Perhaps he has improved to 4 star level though. Hopkinsville can be a basketball mecca on some years and North Texas should recruit there. The small city of 30,000 has produced dozens of top Div 1 basketball players (Duke, Temple, Xavier, Kentucky, Clemson) and 4 NBA players. The small HS that I graduated from in Hopkinsville produced Scotty Hopson and Greg Buckner (former Mavericks players). The H.S. a few blocks away produced Chris Whitney (Wizards, Spurs).

WKU has defeated UNT 11 consecutive games now. The last time UNT beat WKU was back in 2012 right after they fired Ken McDonald and Ray Harper took over as HC. WKU scored 61 points in the second half of tonight's game. 61 !

Ranks right down there with the UL Monroe loss to start Sunbelt play. Just an embarrassing & shameful loss for this team. Good Lord Charlotte sucks bad.
