  1. North Texas: 19 So. Methodist University: 49
  2. Seems like I remember hearing that Dickey era teams practiced full speed hitting too and this caused the expected injuries. But it was the price to be paid, I guess. I heard WKU's football HC (Helton) say last week that Steve Spurrier would have rather lost and put up 500 yards of offense than win a low scoring game. This might be the same mentality coming from the Mike Leach tree of coaching. But don't forget too, UNT isn't winning many football games scoring only 29 points either.
  3. A nice marketing gimmick for WKU Football. But your interest should end there. Having lived in Bowling Green for decades, trust me when I say; there is nothing to see here. Move along.
  4. Almost empty stadium too. Geez.
  5. While we are on the subject of past glory days, why does TAMU come up as one of the unquestioned powerhouse football stories in Texas? All 3 of TX A&M's national titles (1919, 1927, 1939) are contested. Yet these years all appear at Kyle Field. The 1919 Title is also claimed by tiny Centre College among a few other schools. Yeah, TA&M is competitive some years and there are some nice folks in College Station. But their nothing special in college football history.
  6. Usually differ complex football analysis to you guys. You're from Texas and Texans really know their football for sure. But my take is that if the defense doesn't improve dramatically from week one and two levels, it will be a long day at LA Tech. These next two games are scary stuff for Morris. Not sure he expected 0-4 and what that would mean. But he is facing this very real possibility. NT: 31 LA Tech: 45
  7. Wow. Unbelievable that he said UTSA FB was a dump. I was pulling for the Roadrunners, but their defense just wasn't up to the task of defeating a good Army squad. Disagree with his "....than this dump" statement. UTSA is part of the UT system (so far from dump level) and their FB program is making huge strides in the right direction. Alamo Dome seems to double the actual attendance noise wise. Heck 28,000 is not a bad attendance number either.
  8. Does anyone know where I can get a Football Schedule poster? I looked at UNT athletics website and no mention of poster schedules. Many people in my office have UK and WKU football poster schedules and I wanted to hang up a UNT poster in my office. I gave up on finding a NIT Championship hat. Guess none were made.
  9. What about a hat? Where can we buy an NIT Championship hat? I need an NIT hat to display in my office which has mostly WKU grads working there. Had to take down my C-USA Championship hat from my office after FAU won it this year.
  10. Stansbury's resignation flashed across the ESPN ticker the day after he quit. Local news reported that Stansbury called it quits because of health problems. It was also reported that his contract had a $500,000 buyout clause. Which means he has to pay WKU $500,000 according to his contract terms. (His salary was $650,000.) WKU BB HC is a desirable job as basketball is like a second religion here in KY and WKU BB has great fan support.
  11. UAB punched NT in the mouth early, and I think caught this team off guard. The expectation this year was to make the CUSA finals imo. So, I am disappointed for sure. But this loss doesn't really matter. UNT likely could not beat FAU anyway. Really would like to see FAU make it far in the NCAA bracket this year.
  12. As many of you know, I live in Bowling Green, KY and work & live among mostly WKU grads. A win today would be huge to me. It is possible that NT never plays WKU again in any sport. And this past year has been special. A beatdown at football and a win against in men's BB were great and I am thankful. A potential final win against WKU tonight has special meaning for me and I am hoping for a large and rowdy crowd and 100% effort from the players and coaching staff.
  13. IMO...If SMU leaves....add (ranked): 1. Army or 2. Air Force or 3. MTSU -Nashville market. or add all 3.
  14. WKU starting guard Luke Frampton is out for the season with ACL injury. Started in 20 games this season. He was a 6th year senior, so he is done. Their coach Stansbury is also still out with unknown medical issues. FIU is on the road will be a tough game for WKU.
  15. WKU head coach Rick Stansbury did not coach the Rice game due to illness. Rick Stansbury Day to day Also, McKnight injured neck and was taken to area hospital. WKU seems down this year. Rice looked good and a great road win for them.
  16. Tyson Helton (WKU Head Coach) said in a radio interview this season that there are statistics that show that your team's chances of winning dramatically decline when your QB throws a pick six. A pick six is evidently very difficult to overcome for the team that threw the pick six.
  17. But remember back in NTs Big West Conference days? The "chippie" play seen from those mountain schools was common. Utah State comes to mind first. NT was not a heavily penalized team this year and likely not the common denominator in all the cheap shot crap but rather got pulled in by Boise State. I never played football so I may be completely wrong here, but that is my take on it. Also, are the "tear away" undershirts legal? The Boise State skilled players had the blue undershirts hanging down their pants. When NT players grabbed BSU players they sometimes inadvertently grabbed these "tear away" undershirts and these shirts ripped right off in the NT player's hands.
  18. Phil Bennett coached a very good game all things considered. Boise State has just a dominating ground game. The Jeanty kid was almost impossible to bring down minus KD Davis. And Green rushed for 119 yards with his big 6"6" frame. Made it look effortless on some of those runs. Boise State has a good kicking game too. That is hard to beat without playing mistake free football which NT did minus the interceptions.
  19. Guessing the State of Texas on the helmets are only used for in the State of Texas games. I don't believe that NT has worn that helmet in an out of state game.
  20. IF NT & WVU are both interested in Graham Harrell a "one pager" compare and contrast document between the states of WV & TX should be in the works now. A "no brainer" decision. Good grief, why would anyone move to WV? If the "which state do I move my family too?" decision metrics were a football score it would be something like: State of Texas- 59 State of West Virgina- 3.
  21. I do agree that NT is very good compared to other mediocre teams this year. Except one odd game. NT dominated WKU (8-5) on the road. Maybe this "oddity" will be tested if WKU plays SMU or UNLV in a bowl game.
  22. Alamo Dome must be tough place to play. That and Aune throwing two interceptions made this a long night for North Texas.
  23. Good grief North Texas couldn't stop a girl scout troop from scoring. What the hell was that
  24. But wait a second. Let us not forget that Wren is moving to Morgantown West Virginia. I live in Kentucky, and I can tell you that living here is a huge step down from living in Denton Texas in almost every way. West Virginia is one of the few states that I consider a big step down from Kentucky. Good grief I would not move there.... unless I was extremely overpaid. WVU's athletic budget is $92 million annually and Wren will make $1.1 M+ annually. I am sure there are many on this board that manage resources that far exceed this amount and I bet you don't make a million per year. I have had as much as $125 Million annually on my platter (for many years actually) and made nowhere near this much. These athletics people are obscenely over compensated folks. Something doesn't smell right, and others are taking notice (like Houston Nutt for example).
