WBKO (local TV station here in Bowling Green, KY) carried extensive highlights of the North Texas/FIU game. This is unheard of here and was very much intentional. The point was to underscore how much faster WKU’s program has progressed than lowly North Texas who can’t even compete with FIU. By the way, WKU was not blown out by 20th ranked VT yesterday. In my opinion, UNT is simply one of the worst D1 football teams in history. It is just amazing. DD left the cupboard bare for TD, that is evident. I will attend the WKU game, but WKU will easily blow out NT.

If UNT loses at home next week to FIU, then that is it; UNT will lose out (0-12). I may be the lone UNT fan to show up at the WKU game here in Bowling Green, KY. uuuuuhhhhg.

WKU is withholding their official Football schedule according to AD. WKU appears on Kentucky's 2008 schedule that came out this week. Heard a rumor that WKU is reshuffling the schedule and maybe trying to get out of a few games.

I watched the WKU vs NT game on TV here in Kentucky and it was frustrating to say the least. Problems: •Can't handle press: Bell dribbling into a half court trap 3 times and getting the tech. To his defense, nobody came to help him. Wooden even had to bring the ball up on 2 occassions. No excuse for NT not handling the press. • WKU guards the perimeter, so why not take the ball inside? • Why not take the full 25 minutes to cool off WKU's jets after the power failure? • WKU got a lot of second and third shots. To NT's defense, WKU camped out in the paint all night and only got called for 3 seconds one time. • Time outs do not carry over until next season. Jones should use these TOs. • Head fakes really do work. NT players should try them. I saw UNT twice this season (both WKU games). The loss at home was likely WKU's best performance of the year, but last night WKU was flat and made a lot of stupid mistakes compared to their normal performance. It was a weird game, because it seemed as though NT should never have been in this game even though we came to within 1 point early in the 2nd. Doesn't matter, South Alabama will win the Sunbelt Tourny with the big home crowd Tuesday night.

Yes, the WKU game will be televised here in Bowling Green, KY in my living room. Ha !

Budget cuts in Kentucky forced WKU to drop their only non SBC men's sport (soccer) saving $300,000/yr and dropping 19 ships.

...uhhhh.......its called a flu shot. Why doesn't UNT invest in these cheap preventive measures? That is, if UNT basketball players were indeed diagnosed with influenza.

It is my duty to keep you guys & gals posted about things regarding UNT way up here in Bowling Green Kentucky. Below article appeared in today's paper. Seems Ball State complained about "chippy" play as well. Sun Belt plans investigation into postgame fight Elson says Hilltoppers are a ‘first-class group’ By NICK BAUMGARDNER, The Daily News, nbaumgardner@bgdailynews.com/783-3239 Tuesday, November 27, 2007 11:07 AM CST Print this story | Email this story | | Text Size advertisement Facing a possible Sun Belt Conference investigation into the on-field altercation between Western Kentucky and North Texas following Saturday’s game, WKU coach David Elson defended his team Monday, saying it does nothing but play by the rules. “When it comes to any of the comments about the chippiness or us being unsportsmanlike, I would encourage anybody, and everybody, to call any and all officials in the Gateway Football Conference - as well as any opponent - and ask what they thought about Western Kentucky,” Elson said. “And I am very confident that they would say we are what we are - a first-class group that plays hard. “We pride ourselves on playing hard and playing physical - we’re used to that style of play from being in the Gateway, which is a very physical league.” Sun Belt Conference commissioner Wright Waters confirmed Monday morning the league will look into the incident, which involved players from both teams converging midfield following North Texas’ 27-26 victory in Denton, Texas. “It’s something that has been reported to us, and we’re currently looking at it,” Waters said. “As soon as we get all the facts straight, we’ll go from there. “There were 10 personal fouls in the game, and we’ve asked for the video. So once we see that, we’ll go from there.” The Saturday situation comes after allegations of “chippy” play by Ball State coach Brady Hoke earlier this season. “I’m not going to speculate on their feelings, but we’re not doing anything differently than what we’ve done,” Elson said. “I’m not happy with us averaging seven penalties for 70 yards per game, that’s not where we need to be and that needs to be less. ... “We didn’t handle ourselves the way we expect to and we were penalized for it, and we paid a severe price in losing the game by one point. And that’s something we’ve got to learn from and live with.” Elson said he hasn’t yet spoken with either Waters or North Texas coach Todd Dodge about the incident, although he expects to do so soon. That said, Elson said his team meant no disrespect to the Mean Green with an on-field celebration penalty the Hilltoppers received following a defensive touchdown near the end of the first half. “There’s different ways of looking at celebration and that type of thing, and to my knowledge, we didn’t do anything directed towards them,” Elson said. “It was our guys celebrating together - still not right - but everyone interprets it different ways and they interpreted it as disrespect. “But we respect our opponents, and it was unfortunate, but we learned a valuable lesson.” No serious injuries for Wolke Elson said that other than feeling drained from a physical game Saturday, redshirt junior quarterback David Wolke had no serious injuries. Wolke, who played the majority of the game, sat out the last series after what Elson thought might have been possible head and knee injuries. “It was just a physical game, and I asked him last night how he felt and he said it felt like he was just in a 15-round fight,” Elson said. “He just felt banged up with both shoulders and his whole body. He took some pretty good licks. “We thought there may have been some lingering effects from the concussion earlier, and that’s why we didn’t put him back in. But I don’t think it’s anything serious.” Ring fitting The 17 graduating seniors have been fitted for the championship rings they will receive for winning a season-goal number of seven games. Elson said watching the group go through and finalize that process was special. “It was great - we were able to let our seniors go and know that they were going to go over and get sized for those rings,” Elson said. “I sat in there and got to watch while all those guys went through and got sized, and it was neat. “One of the motivations in coaching is to see kids achieve a goal and get the reward and recognition and feel that sense of accomplishment. “It’s a life lesson they’ll be able to carry forward, and that’s a great feeling.”

Just In Case You Want To Know What The Wku Forum Says

Yes. WKU will bring back many seniors next year that were red-shirted this year. -
I did not record the game. This game was carried by Hiltopper Sports Network but NTSports was actually covering the game. It looked like students, so the coverage wasn't that great but I am not complaining because I got to see the game. Some of the camera work was actually quite good. I thought WKU fumbled the ball once and the replay confirmed it to me. The officials didn't agree. Also WKU and the officials seem to delay the game to take away the no huddle advantage of not making defensive adjustments. Also, WKU HC Elson complained about the extremely tight officiating going both ways. Me thinks this crew was warned about WKU before hand. I do not know Mike Leach.

i watched this game on TV here in Bowling Green KY and man did you fans look miserable out in that weather. I have to hand it to NT, they pulled out a win against a fairly good WKU team in weather that favored a run attack like WKU likes to play. Also, WKU didn't have to contend with a noisy home crowd as it looked like maybe 3,000 was in attendance.

SMU 38 UNT 31 3:19 4th -
Game is so bad that FSN dropped its broadcast at the end of the 3rd quarter here in Bowling Green Kentucky. I thought I heard an announcer slip during a commercial with a live mic say NT's football team was ridiculous. My take (executive summary format): • Meager is not impressive at all • UNT no huddle offense accelerated big blow-out score • UNT has very little team speed. • UNT seems well coached, but way too thin in overall talent • May defeat Fla Intl and that is it. • UNT's program may be too far gone at this point and if huge blow-outs continue, recruiting will also continue to suffer. • I know Dodge is a legend in Texas HS FB, but at this point....big hat, no cows. Unfortunate that a major university can't field a team that can hold any team to under 80. WKU held the 1A champs (Florida) to 49 points and WKU's program has no 1A history what-so-ever.

WKU had no answer for Wooden and Darrin Horn even admited after the game Tuesday that Wooden killed WKU inside. I saw a big strong inside player with a decent touch. Keep in mind UNT just defeated WKU for the first time ever (1-7 against WKU) this week and that was mostly because of Wooden. Watson and Sturns were left open because of WKU's attempts to keep the ball away from Wooden. Just my take and I was there Tuesday night.

I attended last night's game and I too was extremely impressed with Watson, Sturns and Wooden. WKU couldn't guard Watson and Sturns on the perimeter because they were so focused on keeping Wooden out of the paint. Wooden was absolutely killing WKU inside. JJ coached a masterful game, despite being out-manned by WKU's 9 man rotation. JJ made key adjustments and did a good job of taking the WKU crowd (the wall of noise) out of the game. I sat in a luxury skybox with catered dinner and open bar. The suite had very cushy leather seat back chairs and a fantastic sightline. My wife and son had a great time also. WKU has a great facility in Diddle Arena Overall one of the most enjoyable sporting events I have ever attended. The only other UNT fan I saw in attendance was a very rowdy woman in the cheap seats. It may have been Sturns' sister, but not sure about that.

I will be attending UNT@WKU game Tuesday night. I have luxury skybox seats. I will likely be the only UNT fan in Diddle arena. -

If Davis' hand is broken it is huge for NT. We need to gel before conference play and that can't happen with our star player on the bench for 4 weeks. We need to be 100% healthy and play an almost perfect game to beat WKU on 12/19 to start SBC season. We also need Davis in a big way for that game. I think NT can be a 1st seed in SBC tourny if Davis is healthy. He could have just blown our chances of an NCAA berth with this punchy time incident. Thnx

You are correct. I have lived in Bowling Green for 5 years.

This was the first time I have seen NT Mens basketball team play this season and I was not impressed. Executive Summary: • WKU played at a much higher level of intensity than UNT, especially on defense. • WKU probably played their best game of the year. • WKU clinched the Eastern Championship by winning this game, so a lot was on the line tonight. • UNT does not play sound fundamental basketball. They do not attack the bucket, way too many lazy bounce passes, other passes lack zip, horrendous FT%, bizzar inbounds passing strategy (EX. NT actually throws the ball into the opponents court 60 feet away when inbounding under their own basket). • No answer for WKU Winchester who poured in 29 points. • Lionel Brown is a very good basketball player. • WKU has 19 NCAA Tourny appearances and a Final 4. It is unlikely that UNT can come here at anything less than 110% intensity and expect to stay within 20 points of the Toppers. Positives: • UNT's press actually worked. • Big crowd (around 5,000 + 1 UNT Fan (me)) Hope JJ make big improvements before the Sunbelt Tourny. This UNT team looks promising despite the terrible performance tonight.

I watched this game on local television (live) and MTSU looked very good on defense. The MTSU D-Line was relentless through all 4 quarters and at one point I saw Vandy triple team the Littlejohn kid. I also attended the MTSU UNT game and I thought MTSU d-line looked very good in that game as well. The MTSU offense looked a little better against Vandy than UNT. Also, about 10,000 MTSU fans attended the Vandy MTSU game. Go Blue Raiders !
