  1. 1989/1990 Season was worse. I witnessed it first hand. It seems like UNT lost the first 17 games and even lost to a Sam Houston St. team with a 7 man roster. I played against High School teams in Kentucky that could have beaten North Texas that year. They were horrible. I believe they only won 5 games and NT athletics employees were very comfortable because outside of vocal fans like myself heckling from the stands, there was no accountability until Gene Stallings came in to investigate.
  2. This same link projects him as the #17 Draft pick for the Celtics and probably the best athelete in the draft. Amazing. I think that Tony is about to wake up and go medievel on some azzz. Jerkin down impossible defensive rebounds, altering shots, blockin peoples's $h^t and single motion offensive rebound put backs that NBA scouts like to see. Crisp passing back out to the perimeter and then feeding dumps back in to Tony for a 2 hand jam. ALL DAY ! I really feel like Tony will become totally unstoppable in 2013 and get UNT to the Sunbelt Finals.
  3. Or, how about we take the TAMU method of cult like peer pressure to solve this issue. I will never forget 1,000 Aggies chanting "BITCH TAG..BITCH TAG.." at Sebisa Cafteria Hall in 1986 when a young lady walked in with a bow in her hair. She took the bow out immediatly of course. I was stunned by this behavoir. After I transfered to NTSU, I realized that this was not a Texas thing. Just an Aggie thing. Your t-shirt cannon idea has more upside than down. I like it. Just the right amount of peer pressure, but not too much unless you seriously turn up the air pressure on the cannon. By the way, my 12 yr old and his gamming buddies don't tweet or text or even use phones. It's all gamming/Skype simulcast. "Why would anybody text, tweet or talk on a phone?" ...He asked me.
  4. I particularly like the made UNT 3 pointer that Benford nullified with a T.O. It would have made the score 61-58 I believe. Nothing like waiting for a player to work his way open for a 3 point shot, let him get his rythm and then call Time Out. The local sports anchore had some negative feedback on the 10 o'clock news about Mitchell looking anything BUT like an early NBA draft pick. Folks, TM got owned by WKU bench warmers from a rebuilding program. Although UNT wasn't quite as bad as I had imagined, there are definitely some fatal flaws with this team, Mostly fundamentals. Some of the things NT did last night just makes my head explode. Like, why in the hell does NT start their ½ court offense so far from the goal on an inbounds ? Even the WKU radio announcer mentioned that on air.
  5. Corky Nelson was probably drunk during most of the 2nd half, but damn I loved it when he was coaching. You felt like NT had a shot at beating just about anybody including the Longwhorns and their paid off refs. Booze was like some sort of Underdog Pill for Corky. "There is no need to fear, Corky is here !"
  6. And UNT has a lack of people on the football team that can run into the endzone with the football in their hands. C'mon guys, puting the ball in in the basket is the most basic fundamental of the game of basketball. If UNT can't do that on the court, Benford cannot be blamed during his 1st season. There is no coaching around that. My suggestion is that UNT recruit outside the state of Texas for talent. It just doen't exist in large enough numbers down there to fill the roster. I may go to the WKU game and watch UNT get there asses handed to them and watch first hand what you are seeing. Should be a floor mopping session for WKU and another embarassing day at work for me at my WKU alum dominated workplace.
  7. Wonder if he got free hamburgers as a perk for working there? I miss Whataburger ! I do not miss Jack n the Box however.
  8. One of those candy bars would look awesome on my desk at work. Too bad Albertsons is like.. 700 miles from my house.
  9. Does UNT need to hire Gene Stallings again to come in and tell UNT what a bunch of losers we are. What the hell does it take for you people. Stop tolerating this losing crap and put some pressure on this situation starting at the top of UNT's administration. By the way, I do not accept first year coaching excuses. Just won't do it...ever. Tuby Smith won a title at Kentucky his first year with Pitino talent. Why can't Benford win games with our talent level. Isn't Ohio State undefeated this year in football? Did you see where Sean Woods (1st year HC at Morehead St.) was suspended for going ape crap on his players for losing to Kentucky!. Yep the National CHAMPIONS Kentucky. Yet UNT fans sit on their hands after losing to Div 2 schools and loses 2 years in a row to a WKU FB team in only it's 4th year of Div 1. A regional school from a basketball state with only about 4.5 million people in the whole damn state. The DFW metro-plex alone has more people than Kentucky. Hell UNT struggled to beat Texas Southern! It just amazes me that you guys tolerate this culture of losing. Believe me, the people that are responsible for losing will grow more comfortable in their positions if we continue to tolerate losing.
  10. Do you guys remember when North Texas played UL in FB in the mid 90s? The game was at the old stadium in Louisville and it was raining and cold. THe old stadium had a roof over the stands except where the visiting team fans sat. Knowing this, I bought my ticket at the gate to get under the roof. UNT actually scored first and then UL took over. Certainly was not even a winnable game then.

I strongly feel that UNT's unis should sport the state of Texas.
  12. Classic UNT athletics ! Here in KY there are NO EXCUSES in basketball. Benford would already be on the hot seat at any college in this state. I am sick of the damn excuses. WKU is already competing at the near top levels in D1 with a 1st full year HC and Murray State can play with ANYBODY not to mention UL and of course the Cats are both THE best. UNT can't even compete at the top levels of D2. Why do you guys tolerate this crap? LOSING the 1st round of the NCAA tourny is considered failure here. UNT considers this some remarkable damn achievement. Just find a way to WIN WIN WIN !
  13. Expect 30°s F weather at kickoff. It will be a cool day to sit outside motionless for 3½ hrs. Remember, KY is pretty far North compared to the rest of the Sunbelt Conf. and it can get cold here in Nov. Still mulling it over even though I only live a few miles from the stadium. Also, WKU games are especially annoying to attend because of the PA system. It almost never stops. Not just my opinion on that but many others I have spoken to. MTSU has a much better venue.
  14. I have worked with IUPUI grads and it is a real school and pretty good school at that. UNT will get their asses beat.
  15. I have lived in Denton and Murray, KY and Denton is better hands down. Murray was boring as heck for me. One thing about Murray that may be hard for most people to understand is that there is virtually no crime. Up until the 1990s, folks still left their car keys in the ignition. Never took them out. The local food in Western KY is not good and very unhealthy and their are not many jobs in Murray either. Nice place though.
  16. Some want to see WKU HC Taggert at UK. Taggart and Joker are buddies so could get kinda awkward. I like Taggert because he is a no excuses guy. NONE ALLOWED! I fully expect WKU to hang it to North Texas on 11/29 too. By the way, Joker is from Franklin, KY which is west of the Appalachians.
  17. The WKU loss last year was an epic failure and total embarrasment to UNT football even with Dunbar tender. Tonights game is tied with the WKU loss last season. Remember folks, we were at home tonight and only scored 7 damned points !
  18. Miserable offensive performance and an embarrasment. Name one team left on our schedule that NT can beat playing this kind of football. Maybe FAU ? Even Arky St. will kick our asses playing like this. And for gosh sakes, recruit a FG kicker. The defense looked good until the very end when they were clearly exhausted for having to cover for this sorry ass excuse for an offense that I saw tonight.
  19. Amen. Losing at BB in KY is unacceptable and not tolerated. Look at the The NCAA tourny this year. KY has 4 schools in it and one of them is a number 1 seed. UNT should just come to KY and copy the attitude more than anything else. UNT has the talent but we just never play with the same intenisty that I see up here. Kids play BB here like their damn lives depend on winning. A good comparison would be the way you guys view football in Texas.
  20. Maybe you are correct, but I have watched a whole bunch of BB here in KY and to me, it was the same thing that I have seen at NT basketball since I was at NT back in the 80s...lack of intensity.
  21. Nathan Tune played according to the participation report. I didn't attend the game but just saying it looks like he played.
  22. What if UNT hired a coach before the end of the season. Would he start coaching immediatly? Would UNT fire Canales? Of course if UNT hires Canales he would already be coaching.
  23. What if Dodge pulls off a miracle and beats K-State? After all, many injured players could return by then. It would be analogous to "acing" a comprehensive final exam and making the argument to the prof that you eventually mastered the subject and should be given a higher grade than your average reflects. I think he should keep his job if he wins against K-State despite the seven game win ultimatum. Just trying to find a way for this guy to stay. Of course, if we lose to WKU, all bets are off. Losing to WKU is simply inexcusable!
  24. What's even more impressive, is that Corky was likely three sheets into wind by halftime of all of these games. Corky is still to this day my all time favorite HC at North Texas because he got it done with less and had a few drinks to help smooth things along the way. Bring Back Corky !
  25. Great road win guys ! We finally defeat FAU !
