  1. Ja’Mori Maclin already transferred. He can’t transfer again until he graduates, can he? Isn’t that another reason to pick up young players from the transfer portal? They are stuck with us.
  2. I thought they were very good. Obviously they were pro-La Tech, but mostly fair and balanced. The play by play guy sounded just like Brad Sham.
  3. UTSA/TX State is basically a double home game with two programs that have a lot of excitement around them. We could sell out DATCU if we were good and hosted a good SMU team. Not the current situation obviously. I am extremely disappointed in the beginning of the Eric Morris era, but I will be there at the end of the month when we host ACU because I want to support the football culture at North Texas.
  4. The ESPN+ announcers are so bad. Friendly reminder that you can sync The Varsity app with Hank and Dave with the muted video on ESPN+
  5. And while I am at it, I have a high school senior and we are taking college tours. The LSU tour was: Here are all the resources we are going to provide your kid to succeed in college and here are all the connections we have to get your kid a great job once they graduate. The North Texas tour was: Here is the Starbucks. Here is the Chick-Fil-A. Here is the second Starbucks… Nothing about how my kid can succeed at North Texas or why a degree from North Texas is valuable. And they didn’t even show us the Rec Center or Music Department… Whoever is in charge of the marketing of North Texas needs to hop on I-35 with Eric Morris and get the hell out of Denton.
  6. They keep running the UNT commercial with the time progression of the young lady getting her UNT acceptance letter, going to UNT, having college experiences, graduating and then… getting a crummy office job in a cubicle? Really? That’s the best we can do? It’s a freaking UNT commercial!!! It is supposed to inspire parents and kids to the possibilities and opportunities that a UNT degree can open. Couldn’t we have at least given her a corner office with a nice window view of a big city? Nope, our message is: Come to UNT, where you can graduate and get the type of soul sucking clerical job that is available to anyone with a high school diploma. Think bigger North Texas!!!
  7. Is Eric Morris the worst coach in UNT football history? I vote that he is.
  8. I hope all these guys go on to live happy and successful lives. I wish college football failure upon them all.
  9. Navy and probably SMU
  10. Pretty hilarious that TCU is doing this to them. Why should TCU fill SMU’s stadium? TCU really has nothing to gain by beating SMU anymore and TCU doesn’t need SMU to fill TCU stadium.
  11. Roster building is now a year-to-year proposition. A 4-year roster plan is useless now. Also, wake me up when the season starts and the portal closes and tell me who we have for this year. Following all the commitments and decommitments and “respect my decisions” is just too stressful and unrewarding. This is the system we have now. Hope we have the correct people in place to manipulate it successfully.
  12. This is an established D1 rotation player. Not a superstar, but he can definitely handle snaps in the AAC and still has upside. How many high school DE’s have we signed over the years who have never even seen the field for us? This is an example of how the transfer portal is changing recruiting as in years past we might have reached on a low-rated high school guy for this roster spot. Nice to be on this side of the portal for once.
  13. Wide receiver coaches turn over at most school’s almost every year anyway. Lance Dunbar is an all-time great. I wish him the best.
  14. I bet Buggs starts while CJ and Edwards battle to be the primary scorer. Loser is 6th man.
  15. The best thing that could happen to our NIL is beefing up the UNT business school. Love all the musicians and teachers, but not many of them are carrying around wads of discretionary income to stuff into the collective.
  16. We just beat Wisconsin and Oklahoma State in men’s basketball. Were we “competing” against those schools? Or should we have just rolled over and let them win because they are in a “P5” conference?
  17. When you watch a college football game do you just cheer for “both teams to have fun”? I cheer for a certain team: North Texas. And if you are a player on my team, I cheer for you. If you aren’t, then I don’t. And I donate money to the MGSF to help these players develop at North Texas so they can compete and win at North Texas. Not so they can get faster and bulked up and experienced and then transfer to Auburn. That pisses me off. And if it didn’t, what would be the point of following and cheering for a college football team anyway? It is one thing if a kid is here and can’t get on the field so he transfers. No hard feelings. It is another if that kid is getting the opportunity here, takes advantage of our resources and goes and plays somewhere else.
  18. Just trying to follow your logic. I, personally, am not a fan of unions, but whether or not there are unions doesn’t impact my consumption. Do you boycott professional sports because their players are in unions? Do you ignore television and movies because their actors and writers are in unions?
  19. I guess the difference between me and you is that I don’t believe that Auburn is a better job offer.
  20. Do you drive a car? Because everyone who built that car is in a union.
  21. I hope the both of them fail spectacularly as college football players for the rest of their careers, but go on to lead very happy and fulfilling lives outside of football.
  22. NIL and the transfer portal are BS. But we need to adapt to the new environment. If the big boys are tampering with us, we need to be tampering with players at the lower levels. Winners win.
