NCAA denies Memphis' DeAndre Williams extra year of eligibility
MeanGreenZen replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Basketball
The kid got to play four seasons of college basketball. Solid ruling by NCAA. If NCAA wants to continue to exist it must enforce its own rules. -
Double digit loss to a USC team without Bronny.

6 of 8 wide receivers are transfers Best player: Jemori Maclin, Transfer 5 of 10 offensive linemen are transfers Best player: Jett Duncan, HS recruit 0 of 2 tight ends are transfers Best player: NONE 2 of 2 quarterbacks are transfers Best player: Chandler Rogers, Transfer 1 of 2 running backs are transfers Best player: Ayo Adeyi, Transfer 14 of 24 offensive two-deep players are transfers 3 of 6 defensive linemen are transfers Best player: Mazin Richards, Transfer 1 of 6 linebackers are transfers Best player: NONE 2 of 4 cornerbacks are transfers Best player: Ridge Texada, Transfer 4 of 6 safeties are transfers Best player: Logan Wilson, Transfer 10 of 22 defensive two-deep players are transfers CONCLUSION: While the transfer portal can certainly take away, it has given more than it has taken from this roster. I would make the case that atleast the Top 4 players on our current team are transfers: Rogers, Maclin, Adeyi and Mazin. With three of them being “UP” transfers coming from programs from lesser conferences/divisions. And all three of the “UP” transfers played high school ball in DFW. Our geographic location gives us a unique advantage in the transfer portal. If I were Eric Morris, I would be paying particular attention to young (freshmen or sophomore) G5 and FCS transfers who hail from our area. Also, linebacker is a particular area that needs a talent infusion from the portal. Go Mean Green!

Praying Maclin does not enter the portal.
MeanGreenZen replied to WQuinn27's topic in Mean Green Football
Rogers went from Southern Miss to a JUCO to ULM. Since he went to a JUCO before ULM it was like he was never at Southern Miss. Maclin doesn’t have JUCO eligibility left. Next year will be his fifth season of college football. Two at Missouri, two at UNT. I believe he got a medical redshirt one year at Missouri then a normal redshirt the other year there. -

He’s already transferred once. He can’t transfer again until he graduates. It is another reason we should be building through the portal as much as possible.- 29 replies

Not a bad student crowd to start the game. They fled when we got behind early.

Gary DeLoach was an outstanding defensive coordinator here until UCLA paid him more to become their linebackers coach, lol.

Why are we comparing ourselves to Wyoming, again?

Are you a successful graduate of the University of North Texas? Are you enjoying this magical run we are on with basketball? Help sustain this success and get your name on the Mean Green Collective donor wall! You don’t need to be a billionaire to support these athletes. UNT has pumped out thousands and thousands of prosperous graduates over the last few decades. Will you be one of the ones who give back? An emerging school like North Texas CAN acquire and retain ELITE basketball talent and compete for NATIONAL championships with the support of people like you. The Mean Green Collective is welcoming donations of all sizes. My name is on the donor wall with a recurring monthly donation. Calling This Before I Can Say "I Told You So"
MeanGreenZen replied to rojomojo's topic in Mean Green Basketball
This guy just compared the recent UNT men’s basketball teams to the recent UNT football teams. 😂😂😂 One of these things is not like the other… -
Tyler Perry called best shooter in America
MeanGreenZen replied to GrandGreen's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Rubin and Aaron stayed despite getting big offers elsewhere. ALL the FAU guys stayed. Tylor could have stayed, but he chose not to, ruining a Hall of Fame career in my eyes. And if Tylor left for the $$$ then that is “Pay For Play” which also happens to be against the rules. You can say that the rule isn’t fair or that no one follows that rule, but it is still against the rules and Tylor is breaking the rules. May Tylor go on to do great things in life and may his Kansas State basketball season be an embarrassing disaster. -
Tyler Perry called best shooter in America
MeanGreenZen replied to GrandGreen's topic in Mean Green Basketball
And Markquis Nowell might disagree with you about K-State getting Tylor to the NBA. Markquis did things at K-State that Tylor can only dream about and it didn’t get him drafted by the NBA. K-State currently has TWO guys on guaranteed NBA contracts. Not exactly Duke or Kentucky… -

IF that guy makes the NBA, it won’t be because of the construction quality of the KSU basketball facility. -
Jason Bean Starting Against Texas
MeanGreenZen replied to Mean Green 93-98's topic in Mean Green Football
He’s still not very good. Actually, the guy we have playing QB beat out Bean for the starting job in HS. -
Good for this dude. I wish him well. Mosley should have several names of up and comers and be ready to fill this position. Wren left North Texas better than he found it. Will Mosley?

Harry's Barbershop Report Week 3 (La. Tech)
MeanGreenZen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Ja’Mori Maclin already transferred. He can’t transfer again until he graduates, can he? Isn’t that another reason to pick up young players from the transfer portal? They are stuck with us. -
I thought they were very good. Obviously they were pro-La Tech, but mostly fair and balanced. The play by play guy sounded just like Brad Sham.

UTSA/TX State is basically a double home game with two programs that have a lot of excitement around them. We could sell out DATCU if we were good and hosted a good SMU team. Not the current situation obviously. I am extremely disappointed in the beginning of the Eric Morris era, but I will be there at the end of the month when we host ACU because I want to support the football culture at North Texas.

UNT commercial during football game
MeanGreenZen replied to MeanGreenZen's topic in Mean Green Football
And while I am at it, I have a high school senior and we are taking college tours. The LSU tour was: Here are all the resources we are going to provide your kid to succeed in college and here are all the connections we have to get your kid a great job once they graduate. The North Texas tour was: Here is the Starbucks. Here is the Chick-Fil-A. Here is the second Starbucks… Nothing about how my kid can succeed at North Texas or why a degree from North Texas is valuable. And they didn’t even show us the Rec Center or Music Department… Whoever is in charge of the marketing of North Texas needs to hop on I-35 with Eric Morris and get the hell out of Denton.- 7 replies

They keep running the UNT commercial with the time progression of the young lady getting her UNT acceptance letter, going to UNT, having college experiences, graduating and then… getting a crummy office job in a cubicle? Really? That’s the best we can do? It’s a freaking UNT commercial!!! It is supposed to inspire parents and kids to the possibilities and opportunities that a UNT degree can open. Couldn’t we have at least given her a corner office with a nice window view of a big city? Nope, our message is: Come to UNT, where you can graduate and get the type of soul sucking clerical job that is available to anyone with a high school diploma. Think bigger North Texas!!!
