John Savage has to be considered. He was all conference when the Missouri Valley Conference was called the Valley of Death because of the quality of its teams.

As the article says, it is the relationship that may exist between the service and individual institutions. For example, one of the Rivals guys in Arkansas is an obvious Razorback fan. THe fear is the relationship will lead to schools like Arkansas being made privy to information not supplied to say Arkansas State. In some states, there might not be a problem, but, in some states, it is a potential problem.

How does the NCAA justify making the scholarship a year to year on the part of the school, but the player is obligated for four years. He can only transfer by sitting out a year or dropping down in classification if it is a FBS school. I think if some of these lawsuits focus on this situation in might become very interesting.

Before you close out the list, don't forget John Love. I saw both he and Shanklin play, and I think the plays Love made were even more impressive than Shanklin. Love went to the NFL with Washington I think. He was drafted and did not make a come back. Even though he did not finish his rookie year, he still received votes for offensive rookie of the year.

I don't think level of competition is as important in BB as in FB. How many players did you see go from high school to the NFL? A number of players went straight from high school to the NBA before they changed the rules. I am not saying it is not a consideration, but it doesn't seem to be the same.

It is my understanding Arkansas already has 25 commitments, but might offer 2 or 3 more in case something happens.

Thanks for the memory blast. I attended a high school and then a JC with no band. I thought the NT band was the greatest. The "University part of the alma mater was necessitated by the change from NTSC to NTSU. I was, I believe, in the first NTSU graduating class.

It seems to me that when I was an undergraduate, the band did some stick figure routines. So long ago, I am not positive, but I believe so.

We need to get the best players we can. If they happen to be from Denton, that is great. If they are from somewhere else, that is just as good. After all, we are a state university not a city one.

Many years ago when 4A was the highest classification, Wichita Falls had all three teams make the playoffs. I don't remember how far they went. It was Hirschi, Rider and WFHS. They represented 2A, 3A, and 4A.

When Joe Foley took over UALR, they were not much better than a high school team, and look at them now. Amazing what a good coach can do. Too bad we cannot say the same about the UNT girls.
