  1. Plumm. The other six are A&M, Tech, Houston, UTA, UT Austin, UT Dallas.
  2. And how many positions would not be up for grabs at Kansas?
  3. The Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) lists as a four year 1 university. There are six other Texas public universities in this category. Ratings are based on the number and diversity of graduate degrees. Both UTEP and UTSA are four year 2, and Texas State at San Marcos is a four year 3. The only other four year 2 institution is TWU.
  4. Laxtonto is only partially correct about the funding issue. It is most probable the sciences pull in more grant money. On the other hand the .arts people will likely generate substantially more SSCH's with the tuition and fees that go with it. A large problem with the A& S alignment is finding a dean that both areas fully accept.
  5. This happens at schools at all levels. Ole Miss gets the top recruiting class in the nation with a new coach! On-line classes make it easy for tutors or grad assistants to do papers or take tests for athletes. Before I retired I taught at a DII school. I think it is endemic in college football. During interviews listen to some athletes talk, and the tell me how they passed freshman comp. While at NTSU,in the doc program, one of my professors was concerned the ramifications of possibly failing one of the starters on the football team. It all starts with the president. He sets the tone for the athletic director. The AD sets it for the HC right on down the line. If there is rampant cheating, the president is complicit (see Baylor).
  6. Texas lost to Bama because of personnel not scheme. They lost because McCoy went out in the first quarter and played the rest of the game with an inexperienced QB.
  7. Although I would have preferred six wins, I think it is rewarding that our APR is better than these 5 win schools: Texas, Texas Tech, and best of all, SMU.
  8. According to USA Today, UNT and Mississippi State are guaranteed in based on APR.. Two teams playing this Saturday have a chance to get to six wins. If one of them loses, Texas is next up. I think Herman would like a chance to see what he has. If both teams lose Northrtn Illinois is next up.
  9. Reassign Benford for the remainder of his contract. Make one of the assistants interim. Make clear to players, prospective players, and new coaching prospects there will definitely be a change.
  10. I swear. Sometimes, I think we are more interested in what the team is wearing than how well they are playing.
  11. I think it would be great if it is necessary for Morris to start for him to have an outstanding game toward the end of his career.
  12. Sure working out for Oregon this ear. Isn't it?
  13. If their defense has DI caliber linemen and you offensive line does not, the QB is in for a long night.
  14. UTSA played DII, Arkansas Tech in an exhibition game and beat them by 2. Tech led for a large part of the second half.
  15. What about Mack Brown? He won and lost with highly rated talent
  16. UALR should be a good test right out of the box.
  17. And where did Olewale say he was from during introductions?
  18. If SL pulled the offer, he left the player with three months to find another place. Sabah has done much worse. How many times have we had players decommit because they thought something better came along.
  19. Is it possible he took the commitment of Newman as a lack of commitment from the coaches?
  20. One reason Army did so well during WWII was because their players stayed for four years. Many colleges lost players through the draft and enlisting in the service.
  21. I saw the game with Vidal Carlin Screaming Eagle mentioned. It was against Tulsa. I think there were 95 passes thrown with no interceptions. It as an exciting game even though we lost.
  22. Westdorm, was Don Ellis still dorm director when you were there?
  23. D. Royal would agree with Ben Gooding about the importance of the fb. After revealing the wishbone, many coaches asked about the formation. His reply was that they didn't want his formation. They wanted his fullback, Steve Wooster.
  24. Maybe things will look up. In the USA Today rankings we are out of triple digits, barely, but progress is being made. By the way, we are one rung below UTSA. A Win over Army would take care of that. In fact, we are ranked higher than Iowa State and Kansas.
