Mean green Maniacs are becoming powerful
TheColonyEagle replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Ok I’m gonna say it no Nevermind ok here goes I have to nope ok: *big sigh* I say this with an unblemished record of not being offended by anything and I’m not offended now. It’s not about being offended. I don’t even care that it was so loud for my 9 and 7 year olds to hear it (they didn’t really realize what they were saying anyway) I’m sure they’ve heard worse, so whatever. But the little 2 word descriptor addition to the fight song. It’s been brought up before. It’s just much more noticeable inside the Pit than it is at Apogee. But it’s just…..so stupid. And it doesn’t do anything positive to help our school in any way. It’s really more embarrassing than offensive. In a pathetic, bush league sort of way. It makes us look bad. That’s all.- 75 replies

Oh CBL, you’re such a rabble-rouser

Players and coaches should NEVER get ahead of themselves.....but I can. So obviously the best case....VERY BEST CASE is UNT wins the national championship but let's look at best case leading up to the start of the tourney. We have 2 more regular season games and then up to 3 conference tourney games. If we win out we're looking at a possible top 25 ranking. In Denton, TX will sit a 27-4 basketball team with the #1 defense in the country, undefeated on the road. Our 4 losses: 3 points to 19-8 Buffalo 12 points to 23-5 #6 ranked KU 6 points to 20-9 Miami 6 points to 22-7 UAB Latest Bracketology I saw had us at an 11 seed. If we win out, that will be our floor. So best case leading up to the tourney if we win out....we will get national attention that I don't think any of us have seen before. The national experts are going to be going nuts for us and we will be the darlings heading into March Madness.

That's exactly what I think will happen....
-
I’m one that thinks they SHOULD. If we had a better coach we COULD.

Layups? He’s 1-2 vs USM the last 3 games and ODU beat him the last time they played. There are no FBS lay ups for Littrell. The only layups for him have been FCS teams. Take those games off his resume then look at his record. 😳

$2 General Admission Tickets vs. LA Tech.

nice. Baseball tourney cancelled Saturday....me and my peeps will be there. -
How was that a block
-
Thing I like about this game…. we’re gonna blow them out. But it just feels like Mac is gonna have plenty to chew on them about. just has that feeling. Second half defense hasn’t been nation leading. Saturday gonna be good. *edit: man that was nit picky by me but hey, high expectations are awesome.
-
There it is….. I was wondering when I would see the Mac and team post game celebration. I dare anyone to watch those and not smile.

2022 UNT FB Schedule Predictions
TheColonyEagle replied to Dannymacfan's topic in Mean Green Football
This team has enough talent (even after the departures) to win 9 or 10 games with that schedule. It is PATHETIC. My fear is that he wins 8 games and folks see that as a positive instead of a negative (which it should be) and they extend him. As for our QB play....I wonder how Mason Fine would've done if you replaced Lawrence, Guyton, Darden and Bussey with what we had out there last year....just wondering. -
One could argue we got what we paid for.....
-
The way I see it....it does and it doesn't. The NIL shouldn't have anything to do with the size of the school or their budget. In theory, if UNT had a T Boone Pickens or a guy that owned a bunch of car dealerships, they could pay ten 5-stars $1 million a piece to come sign autographs at their dealership. I honestly thought a school like SMU would really benefit from the new NIL. Their alumni could pay just as much as Alabama's for example. Has nothing to do with the budget of the athletic department. If we had some billionaire alum business owner that wanted to pay players to put their pictures on a billboard, why couldn't we do that?

Jay Bilas From ESPN 1-68 rankings 2-17

We HAVE to win in Birmingham..... -
I was speaking more to the mid major polls and articles....

Agree. They are DETERMINED to keep UAB up there. The level of love they’re getting is weird.
-
UAB has 3 not so great losses since beating us. We’re 10-0 since then.

I remember the first time I took my father in law to a UNT game 10 years ago or so. He’s from Waco, follows college football. He asked “now is UNT FCS? What division are they in?” He’s a Baylor guy and follows big 12 and watches a lot of football. Yes it’s one anecdote but I guarantee there are LOADS of casual football fans that have no idea where UNT lives. point being I don’t think people that currently go to UNT games go because we “compete at the highest level” most don’t know. UNT fans go to UNT games because they root for UNT. That’s why we don’t draw….not enough UNT fans.

I think that anyone that looks at a separation as a negative because we’re “dropping down” is looking at this program and the other G5s only through green (or insert G5 color) glasses. No one outside of UNT cares about UNT. No one outside of (insert G5 here) cares about (insert G5 here). So we just continue this charade. I don’t understand equating a separation to us in FCS. We wouldn’t be separating by ourselves. We would be separating with other programs like ours. We would still play the exact same teams we play now. If we get 12k at Apogee to watch us play FAU while at “the top level of football” why would we not get that same 12K at apogee to watch us play FAU in a new division? *also: UNT playing (insert G5…..yes a current G5. NOT McNeese St) in a playoff to get to a championship game vs a Memphis or SMU or La Tech would be the biggest game UNT has ever played and would be sold out. this is not 1988. it would be on national television, etc
