  1. Vito: “Take it all into account, and there is a lot to like about where UNT stands as it takes aim at its sixth bowl berth in seven seasons” Or “Take it all into account, and there is a lot to like about where UNT stands as it takes aim at its sixth season out of seven with at least 5 wins” Same thing…
  2. Not really saying he's right or wrong....but like many around the program, he views it the way he views it and has a really low standard for UNT. (and yes...I understand it's been earned, would just like to see it changed) Put another way: I just can't say "going to Bowl games with losing records is something positive because we haven't gone to many..."
  3. We give contract extensions based on the same…. Based on his writing over the years, Vito is on the camp of “UNT should thank it’s lucky stars anytime something close to positive happens” he’s an add “for UNT” behind everything. Nine wins is AMAZING! “for UNT” Going to a bowl is awesome “for UNT” Not getting blown out is great “for UNT” Getting 15k to show up and actually watch a game is superb “for UNT” That’s how that works….and why our standards are ridiculously low Just put “for UNT” behind everything and mediocrity doesn’t seem so bad….
  4. My problem with Colby Carthel is I can’t NOT think of comedian Bert Kreischer every time he comes up
  5. Don't disagree...but it starts with raising expectations. 9 wins against losing teams shouldn't get automatic contract extensions anymore...
  6. The only thing I'll say (and maybe it's just me). I don't think we need a salesman. I don't care about Littrell's personality if he wins 43 games in 4 years and we're in the top 25. I don't give a damn if walks in the press room and gives everyone the bird every day....it doesn't matter if he's inspirational if he goes 6-6 or 7-5 every year. JUST WIN Nothing else matters. NOTHING WIN WIN WIN 10, 11, 12 games per year. Everything else only matters if you're not winning.
  7. If we had a season like UTSA had last year (starting 11-0) the difference in coverage and support wouldn't be close. Ours would be 10X what UTSA got last year. We need a HC. Marketing this program both locally in Denton, in Texas and even nationally would be the easiest job in America if we had a HC that got us nationally ranked. The same problem that burdens us (long history) is what would help us if we started winning. People actually know who we are...we DO have a history. Even though it may not seem like it now, this ship could turn around much faster than a start up program like UTSA. No one knows anything about them...they're still an extension of the UT System. Remember when Cincy had about 3,000 people in NO when they played us in the NO Bowl in '01? Now look at Cincy. All they did was hire good head coaches and start winning. Nothing else really matters for UNT. Win and EVERYTHING gets better. UTSA is still UT at San Antonio. They started 11-0 last year and no one really noticed outside of San Antonio. Plus DFW is a bigger media market. We got more coverage beating a horrible Arkansas team 1 game then they did and they were top 25. All about the head coach. And 9 win seasons won't do it.
  8. Same. Want to change it? Stop giving athletic scholarships. Pay them as employees. Replace a $250K education with $100k salary and fire them if they don't perform. 5 star gets $100K, walk on gets $10K. take it or leave it. If they get hurt, file for workers comp. If they're a bust? Guess what...we're lowering your salary for year 2. Don't like it? Leave and see if you can get a better deal somewhere else. Free market this thing. Alabama can offer insurance benefits? Great...that's a recruiting tool just like it is with corp. America. They get in trouble or embarrass the company (I mean school) Fire them and toss them aside and move on like a real company does. On the flip side, player gets a better deal? Great....go take it. Want an education? Take out a loan like the kid working at Starbucks (you know....another "billion dollar" company exploiting it's workers) or take your payment in tuition, room and board. Negotiate it. Or pay your own rent, pay for your own food. Yes Quinn Ewers will be living fat while the 4th stringer doesn't...so what? BECOME EMPLOYEES OF THE UNIVERSITY. Stop with the "this is about education" charade. It's not and hasn't been for a long long time... Treat the players the exact same way other employees on campus are treated. Just stop with the BS and hire the players already
  9. It took SMU less than a year to make a mess out of what they were doing. And I’ll remind everyone….they STILL haven’t won anything of substance. Amazing
  10. Sad thing is a large number of our own alumni and fans think this way too….
  11. Good point. No divisions. Are they doing the latest big12 model. Top 2 teams play?
  12. So looking ahead.....I hope we take care of business at home vs La Tech. Then we have a meaningful game the next week. Actually looking forward to it....on paper a good matchup. Why do I do this to myself....
  13. Shows you what they think about our school. They’re laughing at North Texas and thing that it’s ridiculous to expect that. In other words they think UNT is a joke.
  14. We have the infrastructure in place for top 25 finishes. That’s my expectation. Be one of the top G5 programs in the country.
  15. When do we get to be the better team?
  16. So basically we’ve gotten destroyed by winning teams and beaten bad teams. So again, season 7 is just like the previous 6…
  17. That would be almost as crazy as him getting this team ready to play for a conference championship
  18. "We commend Coach Littrell on how he finished the season, and while that may be good when compared to our past, we are raising the bar at North Texas and investing in a program that should go to the next level. The first step in this process is hiring a new football coach who will take us to where we expect to be. We want to thank Coach Littrell for his part in building this program and wish him the best."
  19. Yeah but the stadium may be there too
  20. Can I just point out that not only was that posted at 1am but it was edited at 7am.
  21. Every game adds to it…..
