Congrats to Wren. This is a good situation and we have a lot going on here “infrastructure” wise. There actually ARE better ADs out there than Wren Baker. Go get them. If it’s Jared Mosley great. But I would hope they do a big national search. As for Littrell, I think this for sure buys him another couple of years. By the time a new AD steps in, it’s too late to do anything about next season so Littrell will definitely be back next year. I could see Smatresk adding a couple of years to his deal to put that to rest and then get the new AD in here to evaluate. (Assuming Littrell doesn’t get a job somewhere else anyway) So here’s the deal….if Littrell is here next year, he has a chance to turn it around. Either get a longer term deal here or a P5 offer. I'm not sad about WB leaving. Good for him. The timing is a little tough though given the football program situation. But let’s go get a really good AD and keep it going.

OK Here's the Deal (Coaching Changes)
TheColonyEagle replied to TheColonyEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
The $10 million or so he’s collected over the last 7 years and the nice check he would get as he left should help lessen the blow for him….. I think the stress for Littrell would be a tad bit different than an average guy getting let go. -
from UAB's forum (who got if from the Athletic) talking about Dilfer's current HS: Lipscomb’s roster currently has 2023 seniors committed to Liberty (quarterback Hank Brown), Vanderbilt (receiver Junior Sherrill) and Tennessee (receiver Nate Spillman), along with uncommitted three-star prospects in offensive lineman Brandon Solis and linebacker Bryan Longwell. The school also has the top-two in-state players in the 2024 class, both of whom are committed to the Volunteers: linebacker Edwin Spillman and cornerback Kaleb Beasley https://csnbbs.com/thread-960573.html

Like it or not, todays transfer portal gives them a say. The university has to make the decision to listen or not. The result could be they leave. It could also be they don’t end up getting offers anywhere else. Players can decide if they want to stay or go. UAB can decide if they want to let them go and hire who they think is best and replace the players that leave. For years it’s been “coaches can leave whenever they want.” Well now players can too. I don’t have a problem with any of it. It’s the free market at work.

That’s one of the saddest thing I’ve ever read.

What about threads that bitch about threads that bitch about Littrell?

And there’s nothing “cultural” about Bourbon Street. The last 4-5 times I’ve been to New Orleans I didn’t step foot down there. I do love New Orleans as a whole though. It is a unique city and the food is phenomenal. Their WW2 museum is one of the best museums I’ve ever been to. I must’ve spent 3 hours in there. But please, that doesn’t mean a large part of the French Quarter isn’t a dump. Of course it is….

OK Here's the Deal (Coaching Changes)

I see what you're saying....but in any other year, it wouldn't have mattered. The lack of divisions hurt WKU and benefited UNT. That's just a fact. I'm sure there were plenty of seasons where one division champ lost to someone in the other division that didn't make it... -

That’s fair…. I would say probably not they’re probably wishing their AD made a better hire. Maybe wishing they had better resources. Weren’t stuck in CUSA -

And if your answer is: "yes he's better than anything we've had in a long long time..." You can go ahead and move on. You have ZERO credibility and no desire to see North Texas really succeed.- 58 replies

I know: "another Littrell post" "will they or won't they" I mean....yes, with a coach coming up on the last year of his contract and no decision yet, it's kind of a big deal. But I'm not going to bring up his record, our conference, recruiting, etc. I'm just looking at other programs that have made the decision to move on. How much optimism do they have? I would think die hard UAB fans are pretty excited...look at what they've built and they have a pretty good list to choose from. The future is bright. Tulsa....they have to be excited. Texas State, even FAU. Then look at P5s...Auburn, Nebraska, Wisconsin....they have been stuck in the mud and they get a fresh start. May not work...may be the start of something great. Would there have been excitement at those schools if they did nothing? No...they all get fresh new starts. So that brings us to North Texas. The questions we should be asking: Will anyone be pumped up and excited if Seth Littrell comes back? What if we have the list that UAB is looking at to choose from? Would that be more exciting then bringing Seth Littrell back for his 8th season? We can debate all day if Littrell is good or not, but the fact is our program is stuck in the mud.....what will it take to get us excited for the 2023 season and beyond?

Would Ian McCaw bring his old head coach back? If there is one school that doesn't really care what anyone thinks about their coaching hires...it's Liberty. -
