  1. We have the AD's choice for coach and the coach's choice for players....and we have no hope to win. We are now underdogs to Portland State (AA). We seriously need to start a petition and a campaign to make a change at AD and HC. We have no positive future with our current leadership and new leaders could benefit from our situation. #NEWUNTAD #NEWUNTHC #FIRERV #FIREDMAC
  2. The FPI index also generates a likelihood of winning each game. We are 67% favorites over Portland State (is that all?), and 57% favorites over UTEP. This changes with time but you can see we may even have a shot at UTSA. So, best guess 2-10 season. #HIT1 ESPN FPI LINK HERE
  3. Rick's Team: 42 Dan's Iowa/Florida Team: 6
  4. This was so tough to watch. My summary of McCarney's talk is that we need consistency in all 3 phases and this should be able to be resolved on the practice field. So, from my perspective, we need a new coach. These are McCarney's guys and he can't coach them into playing consistent. Done.
  5. Super aggressive hand off plays after getting the turnover. Way to stick it to 'em, Mac!!!
  6. 14-0 with 5 left in the first...It appears UNT is leaning on the run
  7. ....and last season...and the season before that...it's so conservative and predictable...and painful to watch!
  8. Let's hope not.....
  9. oh gosh....that's not even half of a good rating...
  10. It looks like Mac is satisfied with the D, wishing he had more "D-1 type players", and questioning the O. I sure hope we come out of camp with a QB.
  11. I'm a season(ed) ticket holder and lifetime fan. I, too, have discussed with the old and new pres. The new pres seemed to care more about winning and our football image. That is good news. The University does like RV for his ability to bring in dough. That is the bad part, and the origin of my post. His money is not top level money. If, and I realize it will likely not happen, but if we can part with RV and get a REAL top level AD then we could see REAL money and the opportunity for change. With RV, no change. GMG.
  12. Help me out here. I keep hearing that our schedule is a real slammer, a toughy, a grave digger. As such, I just got around to reviewing our schedule for 2015. ???? Iowa State and Tennessee? Are those the tough games? I don't see one top 25 opponent and Iowa and Tennessee are about top 50 quality. It seems to me, and I'm on a little tear lately about "hoping for mediocrity and accepting really poor outcomes", that our standards are REALLY poor. Our expectations are REALLY poor. What I'm saying is that if this year's schedule is "a toughy" we need to can our AD and coach because it really doesn't matter if this and next year are a building year. It really doesn't. This is NOT a tough schedule. If it IS a tough schedule for us, then ANY schedule would be tough for us and that is just sad man, it's just sad. I heard a sports leader from the U talking the other day about how we kept GA down for a while a few years ago and that we could give Tennessee a run for their money. Huh? A run for their money? We might hang for a while? WTF??? Our coach and AD ought to be yelling from a megaphone somewhere, daily, on campus, that we are going to WIN Conference USA with this weak ass schedule and we are going to give IOWA and Tennessee a good, old fashion kick in the pants! How are we going to bring excitement to the games this year? Complain about the tough schedule before hand (i.e., make excuses) and call the SMU game a home game....well that will surely put butts in the seats. Damn. I'm just disappointed that it has come to this. ...at least the stadium is nice and the kids mostly try hard. ....how about we steal a mascot or something??? What a drag.
  13. I couldn't agree more. We don't have the sports fire of many others and we don't have a plan in place to fuel it. Great post.
  14. The University LOVES RV because he has brought in some money. My point is that if you get someone in that can produce winners, RV's money will look like a frozen hamburger on white bread. It seems we strive for mediocrity, hitting it only now and then, and celebrate largely when we aren't the worst. Take the HOD bowl for example. Administration is STILL talking that up. This is all fine, just fine, we'll live, but imagine if tamu or t.u. had a win in the HOD bowl. They would talk it up, just like we did, celebrate shortly and then have a press conference on how they will serve the alums and university better by working harder and achieving a better bowl the following years. This is just an example, not something to harp on, but we must get an aggressive and effective AD. Right now it's like a dictatorship with no hope for the future. Cuba has a more promising future than UNT sports right now.
  15. But...but...we went to a bowl game a couple o' years ago.....
  16. Yes, we would not want to be evaluated as a power school. Do they have ranking for non-power schools? That would be great. In fact, if we turn the list upside down....
  17. It's amazing to me that year after year we are one of the absolute worst sports programs. This is absurd and old and likely the number one reason why we can't fill the seats and market effectively in DFW. How about getting an efficient AD?
  18. I felt like the major downside of last year was coming out of camp without a solid frontrunner at QB. Hopefully, this year will be different, regardless of the person. We just need a solid QB.
  19. Here's the problem: You want "Sarge" to be like you. He's not, so you judge him and say he messed up. WTF? Sarge may be just fine and dandy working as Sams. Further, Sarge is likely fine without you using him as a recruiting tool, as you described doing. Sarge may have struggled and is just getting back on his feet. Sarge probably doesn't need pretencious jack wagons judging his plight...
  20. THe worst part for me is the declining hope going forward...I'll have to drag my ass to the computer just to buy season tickets for next year, because I don't think it will really be worth it... 4-5 games playing suck teams...ugh. The severe lack of realizing we were not ready out of camp is the biggest downer, followed by our ability not to adapt when things went south. No aggression out of this coaching staff when we found we were not good, just caution play. Dissappointing, to say the least. But, I think one of the major contributers to navel gazing is the thought that these are Mac's guys and he could not get them going. Maybe next year? I hope so.
  21. Yes! Before we give him credit for a little success, let's look at the whole picture. It's bad. With the recent success in non-profit sports, remember the quote: Even the sun shines on a dog's ass sometimes...
  22. I second that...
  23. Does that really say, "Rawlins" Hall? Didn't his practices put us in the financial shitter?
