Draft Recap
untcampbell replied to stebo's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Stebo, would you mind giving us a roster, line by line. I am ADD and can't fully comprehend the paragraph style employed above. Names, by round, Green vs. White. BTHOTU -
Tshirts
untcampbell replied to hope24's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I recommend you call Roy Sanchez at San Bay Studios in Denton. He is an NT alum, and a Talon alum. My guess is he would do it for a reasonable price, say $10, but I have not talked to him. I think he would like a minimum of 10 shirts. Tell him Scott Campbell recommended him...that will raise the price significantly! Seriously, I think Roy is the best in town. He is over by TWU, by the way. I am in for a L if we can keep it to $10. BTHOTU -
Can you tell me what satellite coordinates I need to find this game? Direct TV? Channel 52, 21? Channel 2? BBC17? Will their be a highlight DVD? Game watching party in Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, NYC? Just trying to help out our California, Indiana, New Mexico, El Paso, Colorado, etc fans get the most up to date information on how to see the game, done in one email. BTHOTU

Dude's looking awfully old these days...he was a stud in To Live and Die in LA. I think Opie Taylor or Howdy Doody is more appropriate...thanks for the props Stebo and JayDub. BTHOTU -
43 year old, white male Small, but slow, at 5'10, 160 lbs. Good outlet receiver, good hands when you have given up on the play and just want to gain a few yards. Decent cover skills, against other slow guys, big or small. Definitely a matchup guy. Value late round pick. Experience: One of five that got hamstring pulls in last years "alumni" game...will spend more time stretching this time. 3 time NOB attendee.

Please answer the following questions (I will put in some of my guesses, but I do not know much about hoops): Who did NT play in its 1988 NCAA Tournament appearance? North Carolina? Last (of 3) that have scored 2000+ career points? Chris Davis? Last player in NT history to lead the NCAA in rebounding? No idea...Kenneth Lyons? In 1992, what NT player was named SI's national player of the week? Tony Worrell? Besides meeting Indiana in 02-03, NT has played four other teams from the state of Indiana. Who are they? Notre Dame, Purdue, Indiana State? Disclosure: one of the suburban papers is giving away tix to the Indiana game. Would appreciate any help. Thanks, Scott BTHOUM

Spoke with Mona, the head coach for swimming and diving after the game. Very nice. Good NT fan. She attends all football games, and actually scheduled her team to meet ULM next week knowing the team could make the football game afterwards. She also scheduled ULM to come here next year on the same weekend as the home football game with ULM. Husband is from PR, and was a three time Olympian, who was the flag bearer for his country. Meet is this Saturday vs. Trinity. Diving at 1:30, at the PEB. Swimming at 3:00, in the new Rec center. First meet in the new pool. I know the team would appreciate some GMG.com support. Let's say thanks to this coach who truly believes in supporting all NT sports.

I know our softball coach monitors this board...thanks for getting back to us on this: What times OCT 4 and 5 could we see NT softball play? Are all games scheduled or is this a tournament that depends on early results to see who plays when later? Where will you play? Also, does anyone know when NT hockey starts up? Honestly watching NT beat UT and SMU last year was almost as much fun as watching a football win over a Sun Belt team....can't measure up to the excitment of the Baylor or NMSU football games, though! Scott Campbell, Flower Mound, TX, Wife is Gay (er, her name is Gay), Ian 7, Emma 4. Graduated in 1982, Journalism. I sell a treatment for a blinding disease called Macular Degeneration (those of you old guys that post, call me!). I transferred from UT because I was madly in love and coming home to Ft. Worth every other weekend. Thought it would be a shorter commute to my engaged if I went to NT, and got here in the Spring of 1980. Immediately pledged Talons, went home twice the first semester, broke up with my girl and jumped head first into enjoying NT. First athletic event: NT hosted UT in basketball. Pat Hicks, a career .0000001 shooter, hit a BOMB at the buzzer in 2nd (or was it third) OT to win. First FB game: NT spoiled the UTA stadium opening in the Fall of 1980, I believe 35-16. Memorable games: The NT win over Texas in 1988, SMU 1990, Utah State win in the last minute, both New Orleans Bowl games, the 1988 Tech and Rice wins, this year's NMSU game. I am in a bad mood after NT losses (a few less bad moods recently). Favorite stadiums that I have seen NT games: UT, Rice, Okie State, TCU, Kentucky, A$M, Tech (only because they are so nice to us there--but the expansion is looking awesome), Alabama, UNLV...alright I enjoy seeing my team wherever they play. I have been to approximately 160 NT games. Least favorite stadium to see NT play: Fouts. I went to all home games last year, TCU, Texas, New Orleans. I will be at the Air Force game, all home games and will try to make the Arkansas game. I give my wife Saturday off after I am on the road all week, so my kids are true NT junkies. Ian got BK's autograph last year at the FB banquet and followed him all the way to his car. Ian asks me almost every weekend to watch the DVD. I have sold 4 additional season tickets this year, but have lined up commitments from about 30 individuals to attend at least one game this year. I used to say I am "one of about 8 people that care that NT has a football program." I am glad that we are a growing group. The thing I am most excited about recently is the great game day experience that my family and I are a part of, big upgrade from my early days. Biggest disappointment is the realization that most of us fans give what we can, but there is a relatively small pool of donating fans of this program. We have a long way to go to get our stadium...I am one who believes that the stadium will make a huge difference.

Softball players win NJCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!
untcampbell replied to ssegal's topic in Mean Green Athletics
Congrats on a great start Coach...thanks for keeping us posted. Can't wait to see the Mean Green back on the Field of Dreams! -
Will NT play in a regional? or will any of the boys play individually?
-
I can not wait to see some Mean Green base/softball. I am passionate about the great game, but love ANY sport more if I have some Mean Green to pull for! Coach S, will there be a fall schedule, or is softball mostly a spring sport? How sad is it that an ardent fan of a major University's sports program doesn't know if base or soft ball is played in the Fall?

Again, all hearsay here, but apparently last season's treasurer was found to have used some funds (from Rec Sports) in an ill-advised manner. Funding was not provided this year. I understand next year NT hockey funding from Rec Sports will be reinstated. Would have been nice to see them go to Minnesota.

What a fun time...my guess, about 450 fans, about 400 for NT. Sigma Nu had a ton of guys...I think Hubbard is in their frat. Quality signage and a little face paint. Our fans were into it...lots of hammering SMU players from the stands. SMU fans were loud at first, then quiet. Scoreboard! BJ Cotten, our goalie, is awesome. At one point almost to the end of the second period, SMU had twice as many shots on goal, something 20-10. Yet we were winning 5-3. SMU scored a late goal with 19 seconds left, on a power play, but Cotten was dominant. Many glove saves. Excellent puck handling...NT played better than last week against TU. You could tell that NT was into this game. SMU played dirty through the first two periods and NT did a good job of keeping their heads and staying focused on the win. NT was better conditioned and SMU was worn out in the third. Again, I am a novice to the game and would love to sit next to someone who sees the higher levels, but these guys are fast, strong and they handle the puck well. NT did the Mean Green Nation proud. They deserve continued support and I hope we can get some nice turnouts next year. Sproles, Cook, Hubbard, #56, Cotten...all the guys, great fun to watch.

NT vs. SMU...if they won't play us in football, then let's take em on the ice. You WILL have fun. You WILL be proud of your team. Please be there if you can.

Does anyone have an idea of how Lee Jackson may feel about athletics and its place at NT? How about an email?
