  1. Scattershots while waiting for another TU score: I heard Wendy's gives away free burgers if the opponent scores 50 on us. I couldn't find the guys that hand out the coupons though. My son plays on a young baseball team against many teams who have played together for years. The mercy rule is applied almost every inning. My son feels no better after a loss by 5 or 6 runs, than had they lost by 20 runs. All Sunbelt OOC wins (should one ever come) should be seen in the same light as when a D-IAA team beats a D-I team. Cincinatti (sp?) should be ashamed of itself for letting a D-1AA team beat them in the NOB a few years back...does anyone have a freeze frame of their QB's face expressing diarrhea on the sideline? Bright side: I was so hot, sweating so much last night, that I did not have to make a trip to our vaunted bathrooms! Bright side 2: Cups with ice...even though you had to pay .50 for them. Bright side 3: The Domino's delivery guy will be able to me next game when I call and ask for a delivery to section G. Oops....sorry this was supposed to be the material I used on the Bitter Bored (sic). They wouldn't have liked it either...too positive. Poster without a board. Norm Hitzges voice: Isn't it great to be able to laugh a little?
  2. If you see a good crowd out for a North Texas, call your bookie and bet against. I can recall one game in which we had a good crowd and a win: Baylor. Norm voice: In games played at Fouts in which North Texas plays a team of any conference other than the Sunbelt (meaning there may be a better than average crowd) in which the crowd tops 20,000, and said crowd would likely return if they saw anything worth returning for, North Texas is 1 and 50 ATS. Even better bet: Crowd after any North Texas game with attendance over 20,000: Less than 12,000. Best bet: TV game on ESPN: "Crowd" under 10,000 BTW, does Wendy's give free burgers when an opponent scores more than a half century?
  3. Great post? GREAT WIN!
  4. Good points by GreenSteve...now be prepared to be added to the "Moron post of the week" on the other board. Anything positive about the double D is not acceptable over on The Bitter Board. By the way, I think we got beat in at least 2 of 3 (offense, defense and special teams)...I give us special teams. MTSU outplayed us, but we found a way to win...we earned many of those turnovers. I humbly think we would win this game later in the year decidedly, because I think NT has huge upside. Now that I know that we beat MTSU, I think the postponement of the LSU game was a big win for us. So maybe I can deflect for you GreenSteve...maybe this will override you for moron post of the week, huh Scottie?
  5. well done
  6. Touche, Rick, but I think NC was talking about in this century! NT
  7. Just came on the board. Two observations: a) Why is it ever good for another Texas team (other than SMU) to lose? why would anyone ever insert an emoticon into their post?
  8. Harry, Will they be able to take cash/check donations also?
  9. http://www.lsu.edu/university_relations/me...20050829_7p.htm They resume operations on Wednesday (the entire school) in preparations for school to begin on September 1.
  10. Prayers for Adler's family.
  11. Here is my email and FWST's response. In fairness, they seem to cover NT better than the DMN, the reason I switched...that, and the poker column! I just subscribed on Wednesday, anticipating the big football issue. Why no mention of North Texas? I guess you set this up around rivalries, a category in which we woefully underperform, but it is the football issue. I expect to see team previews. Am I missing something? Thanks, Scott Campbell -----Original Message----- From: House, David Sent: Thursday, August 25, 2005 2:36 PM To: Williams, Celeste Subject: FW: From a reader (source:DFW.com) Celeste, fyi. No UNT? Hi, Scott. I hope you've been enjoying the centerpieces and cover stories we've been doing weekly on North Texas. Our TCU section was cut back this year, and that's where UNT always falls. Because they don't have a true rival, we decided to put them in main Sports. Look for many more stories to come. and we'll be traveling to UNT's first game of the season at LSU. Thanks for reading. Celeste
  12. You know the real action on this board doesn't heat up until you add all the negative guys that come on after we get (whatever'd) v. LSU. Not a lot to get upset about right now, unless you are just looking for stuff to cry about (see voy board).
  13. Tasty. Thanks.
  14. My old pal Mark. Nice work, bruthuh. I try to keep an eye out for both your bylines and Eric's. See you at the game soon, eh?
  15. Got to back up Stebo on this one. This is the one stadium in America that I have no interest in going back to. I also have followed the Mean Green across the country. My wife was pregnant at the time. We went to Baton Rouge, she got sick, I went by myself, found a cheap seat and sat in the cheapest seat I could find. Since it was NT, I think a lot of guys who never get to go to games got to go to their first--guys that had no college degree, maybe not high school. It was a mess. Everyone was drunk and I took great pains to not show I was a fan of NT. Just sat and watched, listened...wasn't much to cheer about for NT anyway. I was uncomfortable even incognito. Hats off to LSU. They own the state of Louisiana and I would die for such passionate fans.
  16. The MGR knows....
  17. Thanks John for the update. By the way, Adler brought by the "Live Strong." Thanks for thinking of me. I need to buy 3 more from you. Neat idea. Email if you get a chance (I lost all my email addresses in a disasterous computer crash): campbellscott@comcast.net
  18. Jim, Mark and John, Thanks for the update/feedback. I am in Canada for a week. Hope to see you in the Pizza section, Mark. sdc
  19. It is Friday night here in Montreal. Does anyone know which team Don McGee plays for? TSN sports centre is coming on soon. Enlighten me. btholsu
  20. If there is a "us against the fans mentality" on this team, it sure is not reflected on the field...maybe it is a coach thing, not a player thing. I get nothing but "yes sir" and "thank you" when we speak with the players on the field after the games. I find these players exceptionally respectful, from the "star" players to the guys who I have never heard of before. I think our boys, at least after the games, focus on the people that attend, not those that don't. I hope that someone can come on and "spin" Dickey's comments in a more positive way. But I believe that what I heard Dickey say in his post game comments was that after the Baylor game "the fans (as usual ) cussed us, but we circled the wagons". Circled the wagons against who? The SBC? The World? Or was he talking about the North Texas fans? Who by the way (up to that point in the season) expect a better effort , both from the team and the coaching staff? I'm getting real tired of this "us-against-the-fans-bunker mentality". Someone tell me I'm wrong about this (and make a credible presentationi).
  21. Big IF, but BIG if....
  22. if money rides on it, fewer people drop out. The league I am in has a $75 entry...as cheap as I am, that is enough to keep me involved. bthotu
  23. Is a club team, but beating SMU 9-4 in a packed house last year, for the league championship was one of my favorite non-football NT moments. I stumbled upon the website last year in time to see two games. Beat UT and beat SMU. Both a lot of fun but the crowd at the SMU game, about 65% NT, 35% SMU was loud, into it and both teams fans were ready to throw by the end of the game! Club hockey, but high level. We had at least three guys who had transferred from being on scholarship hockey teams up North. bthotu
  24. I foud it difficult to follow NT hockey this year, as the few times I monitored the old UNT hockey website, it had not been updated since last year. Someone posted they were playing in Austin last weekend. Apparently, we did not win the conference title this year (a first), and we were playing to try to get to a state final game. I think we were playing Tech, with a chance to play another game vs. possibly Texas. Where was SMU? Did NT win either game? Any news on why the team wasn't as good as in the past, or are other teams catch up? Any help would be appreciated. bthotu
