Still, I wonder what it says about the school we attended that NONE of the area top 100 (for many years) will include us on their "considering" list. Now that the ULL's, etc of the world are beating us, we have to ask what it says and what do we want to do about it, to not even be considered by any of the Top Area 100 (30 miles away from most kids). The latest list included the following schools being "considered:" Tulsa (6) LaTech (2) ULL NMSU (3) ArkSt (2) Texas State SFA SMU (11) What?

Yes the striking thing is that the defense is going down hill from where we are. But the offense, as bad as it is this year, is only 70 or so yards on average, behind our BEST non-conference average during this "run." 5 years of non-conference and our BEST offense averaged 270 yards against non-conference? There is no doubt that soccer is our best sport right now. I do not understand the game, but I greatly enjoyed watching the women this last weekend. 802 fans listed by the AD, which I noticed was second to A&M (distant 2nd) in attendance for all regional women's soccer games over this past weekend. I just enjoyed watching my school COMPETE, and do it so well that they actually won. WHAT A CONCEPT, WHAT A FEELING!

Question, seriously: Most of the 200 or so that come to an away game at this point are parents, yes? If the players aren't willing to acknowledge their parents, why would any other fan expect different?

Early in TT-UT game, the analyst noted how small the sideline cheat sheet Mike Leach uses (because of the relatively few plays required in the mad scientist offense he runs). Does DD even carry one...haven't seen enough of a TV game to notice, or is the play on the side of the cup that Diet Coke guy keeps bringing over?

Greensteve, Since you keep an "eye on the line," can you tell me if you have ever seen a line jump 8.5 points from Monday to Saturday, when no major injury, suspension, etc occured to cause it? There must not have been a single guy in Vegas (wink, wink) willing to put money down on Dickey, er NT.

We were in the first half, with the ball and about 3rd and 32. We predictably run the draw play for 3 or 4 with a penalty. It then is 3rd and 36 or so, and the referee says.....drum roll please: REPEAT THIRD DOWN! We did, though in fairness I don't believe it was really a draw play.

We got there late, but it was a pretty festive atmosphere. This was my first soccer game at this field and I will be curious as to what we report as attendance. I would guess over 500, maybe 700 if you count the fans who parked on the street and watched/drank from their cars. I was impressed with our team speed and we played great defense, as I understand we have all year long. DU is a key "rival" in this conference, and we gutted it out to win with a goal with about 10 minutes left. I will support this team in the future. NT has a history of good soccer, both women and men...when we had a men's team. GMG

Disagree with your premise, that support should be unconditional to qualify, but I would consider myself a green blood. Some of my fellow fans would say I am too much of a lemming, but I lean towards constructive criticism rather than vitriolic piss and vinegar. I will make every home game, win, lose or draw. I give a mid-range of money, that I plan on increasing to high range if a stadium ever happens. I am not sure if I would go on the road as much now, even if I didn't have two kids worth of baseball and soccer games to attend on Saturday's, but I am always by the channel. GMG, win and OOC game.

Sadly, I am not sure there is an OOC D1A team that we can beat right now...really, is Temple or Buffalo any worse than what we put out there? If you can't score points, you can't win. Everyone that we thought was beatable has gotten better, and we have remained status quo or dropped. And until I start seeing us win some recruiting "battles" at home (Area 100), I have no confidence that things will improve. Props to the guys that play for us (we DO have talent), but good players have to be fully surrounded by at least marginal players to excel. Win an OOC game!

Scattershots while waiting for another TU score: I heard Wendy's gives away free burgers if the opponent scores 50 on us. I couldn't find the guys that hand out the coupons though. My son plays on a young baseball team against many teams who have played together for years. The mercy rule is applied almost every inning. My son feels no better after a loss by 5 or 6 runs, than had they lost by 20 runs. All Sunbelt OOC wins (should one ever come) should be seen in the same light as when a D-IAA team beats a D-I team. Cincinatti (sp?) should be ashamed of itself for letting a D-1AA team beat them in the NOB a few years back...does anyone have a freeze frame of their QB's face expressing diarrhea on the sideline? Bright side: I was so hot, sweating so much last night, that I did not have to make a trip to our vaunted bathrooms! Bright side 2: Cups with ice...even though you had to pay .50 for them. If you see a good crowd out for a North Texas, call your bookie and bet against. I can recall one game in which we had a good crowd and a win: Baylor. Norm voice: In games played at Fouts in which North Texas plays a team of any conference other than the Sunbelt (meaning there may be a better than average crowd) in which the crowd tops 20,000, and said crowd would likely return if they saw anything worth returning for, North Texas is 1 and 50 ATS. Even better bet: Crowd after any North Texas game with attendance over 20,000: Less than 12,000. Best bet: TV game on ESPN: "Crowd" under 10,000 BTW, does Wendy's give free burgers when an opponent scores more than a half century?
