  1. Extremely gracious. I have to say that Alabama is my favorite SEC team, based on friends that graduated from there and the way your fans treated us when we played last in Birmingham. Enjoyed that game immensely, and your fans were great. Best of luck to Bama as they make a run at number one. GMG
  2. In Chicago today and used it to find which bars would have the game on...hope it is accurate. GMG
  3. Selfishly, my kids want to play on the field after the game. The fireworks delay the "big game" by a good 15 minutes. Fireworks cost money, win or lose. If we win, we are already celebrating and do not need fireworks to enhance the celebration experience. If we lose, what the hell are we celebrating? Please discontinue, and fund the stadium with what you save. But, GMG.
  4. Leroy, Great post. So few of us have experienced TRUE and GOOD leadership that we don't know what it looks like when it happens. Sometimes it is painful, sometimes feelings are hurt and "employees (players on a team, workers in a company)" get fired or quit because they don't like it...usually because they have never had it before. In the end, if this is TRUE and GOOD leadership that we are seeing, things will work out very well for North Texas....its football team, its enrollment, its alumni. GMG
  5. Moved from 8 to 11 at least a year ago. The Delkus/Hanson cross-talk, puncuated with the Campos cackle, did me in. Hi-def pablum, if you ask me. I am not sure I know a single personality on Channel 11, other than Gina Miller, and that is the point. The news is the news, not the personalies (or lack thereof). Go Channel 11. And, GMG.
  6. I can forgive threw and road for this word: stunning GMG
  7. I would suppose anyone who talks obsessively of their university (often when there is nothing about which to be excited) heard from those who have had to live with said babbling. I don't work in an office but got about 20 phone calls or emails yesterday, from all over the country. GMG
  8. I had a major client dinner last night in TOPEKA, KS, of all places. The restaurant was not set up to be a big TV watching venue, so they did not invest in the "premium package" that would provide ESPNU. I am drinking lots of "water" so that I may make frequent trips to the bathroom to listen to a few minutes of the game. My boss (a UTenn alum) is kindly and discretely feeding me updates throughout the dinner. With about 7 minutes left in the game, dinner breaks and we run into a crowded, smoke-filled (yes, they are still out there) sports bar across the street, bringing our clients. The Chiefs exhibition is on about 1/3 of the screen with the Boise game and other college games taking most of the other screens. But there is my Mean Green on about 4 of the 40 or so screens strewn throughout the relatively large bar. I am going crazy, especially on the defensive drive, and am clearly the most animated fan in the house. I meet the following: ** An Oregon fan who comes up and asks, "Beats those two wins over the Hilltoppers, doesn't it?" ** A Nebraska fan comes to our table and asks where North Texas is located. I recounted my story of our loss to NU 15 or so years ago, calling Nebraska fans the most polite of any that I have seen on the road. ** A dissheveled, and highly irritated, "college football fan" who reported that he had put a "fairly large amount of money" on Ball State. He asked, "what happened to you guys?" After a brief discussion, I mentioned that I had put a fairly small amount of money on North Texas. Oh, and my boss and clients are solid Mean Green fans now. One guy recounted his recall of the University, a true story about a Texas Ranger that was on Carson in the late 60's or early 70's when NT was voted by Playboy as the number one party school in the US. This guy cited Denton as having the first Head Shop in Texas and said the officer credited the very long, paved and relatively isolated and unmonitored Denton airstrip for the high level of drug traffic that was coming through Denton at the time. Oh well...nice to be known for something. A few more will know us for a pretty nice football win on national TV last night. GMG
  9. Just an update: Moodio.com does not charge. Set up your fave stations and it will allow you to listen to them on your phone. I have a Blackberry Bold, but understand it works on a lot of phones. Snuck out of a business dinner tonight and listened in the bathroom. GMG
  10. Email me your phone number: Untcampbell@gmail.com I can walk you thru Moodio.
  11. All it says is that the original line of 23 was WAY off, based on last year's records more than anything else. The "market" is finding the right number. GMG
  12. Rivals would have ranked him a 5.8, if they knew he was ultimately going to transfer to NT. Glad you are with us, William. GMG
  13. Not that any of this means anything... Rotoworld.com, December 2008 Oklahoma State wide receiver William Cole, who missed the entire season with a torn ACL, is no longer with the team. No word on what led to the parting of ways or where Cole may land. From the OSU website, August 2008: Cedar Hill, Texas (Cedar Hill) A versatile incoming player who could help in several ways ... Led Cedar Hill to the 5A state title in Texas and was named as the Texas Football magazine player of the year and one of that magazine’s top 12 athletes ... Senior season statistics were astounding ... He ran for nearly 2,900 yards and passed for more than 1,600 yards ... Ran for 290 yards in the state championship game, including touchdown runs of 75, 71 and 63 yards ... Earned PrepStar All-America honors ... Rated No. 50 among southwest prospects by SuperPrep ... A standout defensive back and receiver during his prep career as well as quarterback ... Rated as the No. 14 player in the country by Rivals in the “athlete” category and as the No. 14 prospect in Texas overall ... Also a member of the Rivals 250 list ... Was rated No. 19 among cornerback prospects by Scout.com and the No. 31 player in Texas ... Rated as one of the top players in Texas by the Dallas Morning News and the Houston Chronicle. Personal: Had a variety of college choices but his final three were Arkansas, Kansas and OSU. GMG
  14. Can anyone provide me the ITune link to the soundtrack of the "Riley Throws Up and Saves the Day" video....gottta have it! GMG
  15. I picked up a copy on my way out of town. At the top of the sports page is a picture of Craig Robertson making a tackle. Interesting, trying to see this through the eyes of someone unaware of the Sun Belt, that North Texas shows up very nicely, and you can hardly tell that he is tackling a Troy boy. USA Today has been doing its conference previews for the last couple of weeks. They usually feature one team, then give a Countdown to Kickoff section with last years standings and the odds each team has of winning the conference. What does it say about the conference that USA Today found our story most interesting? What does it say about us? By the way, Danny Sheridan has us at 250-1 to win conference. A $10 wager in Vegas would return $2500! Can you say stadium fund? GMG
  16. Pierow, Probably not easy for you to do, but may I recommend you attempt to separate the two issues regarding NT. ** Deal with the corporation as you should. ** Consider attending games (or at least the tailgates) if you guys truly enjoy them. I know when my family has dealt with similar health issues, we wanted to be in the places that gave us joy. I am sure you gave this lots of thought before your post, so you likely have already done the pros/cons debate. Again, prayers.
  17. Prayers for Cheri and you, Jon. Hoping things go your way.
  18. A buddy of mine in Cleveland sent me an email at 5:40 am this morning, congratulating me on NT making the front page of USA Today. He was vague about the coverage but said it included a picture. See the online version of the story below, including the You Tube link to Riley's most famous play. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/foo...orthtexas_N.htm And the spin ain't bad based on what the record we have posted over the last four years. GMG
  19. Charlie, I agree with you on every level except for one. This is the funniest thing that ever emerged from Ball State, including Letterman. 3 minutes and 54 seconds of comedy gold. It is mandatory that you view this video in its entirety to fully understand the true value of a Ball State degree.
  20. I don't think so, CBL. I think Knott hits both his extra point attempts, and we go up 14-0. But, GMG.
  21. Only 94 top Troy DB's to go. But, GMG.
  22. NT03, It became painfully aware who is on the chat....mostly parents! I guess they don't read this board much! Anyway, you stated your points, in the face of immense challenge, with poise and facts. As hopeful as I am (this is the time of year us half-full guys thrive), 4 wins is about where my expectations are as well. My attempts to keep my enthusiasm tempered have been squashed by a remarkably strong upgrade to the Athletic Department website. Communication this year has been off the charts. The practice and scrimmage chats are a real nice source for all but the two that fought so hard for practice access, and take advantage of it (just kidding, Rick). From what I can see, here are a few reasons we should get to four: ** 6 home games. ** One game against a BCS stud. ** Coach Dodge is maturing and adjusting. ** Increased quality depth at a number of positions. ** More of the defensive and offensive systems are getting installed than in the two previous years, because the players that are first and second team are capable of playing it. ** Improved attitude and team speed. ** A more experienced and capable coaching staff. If injuries are kept to a minimum, and if we steal a win early, 5-6 wins is not out of the question. But, GMG.
  23. http://unclebarky.com/dfw_files/77311fe1a5...913c7-1211.html I never knew Scrappy was so nice looking. http://unclebarky.com/dfw_files/page5_blog_entry1211_1.jpg But, GMG.
  24. Occasionally, a topic gets started or a comment is made on this board that is based on inaccurate information. Often inflammatory, these topics sometimes take on a life of their own, sometimes cited months or years after they were disproven. This is not a bash on any particular poster or topic...this is a serious question. When bad information gets printed in a newspaper or makes the evening news, those offended typically demand a retraction. Good newspapers and TV newsrooms don't wait for the demand...they fix it proactively. Should we ask the same of ourselves? But, GMG.
  25. The Fake is ALIVE. I hadn't read the high school coaching argument for about 20 minutes. Welcome back. But, GMG.
