Corinth Eagle's post (and gobitchandcomplainabout everything.com) is what made this thread worthwhile I guess we are going to have to put up with repetitive bitching, complaining, assorted pablum puking and snide remarks that question the intelligence of the "apologists" and AD staff from those that didnt get their way, until they do (get their way). Face it boys, this school, my school, will do nothing right until it gets rid of its head coach....and this type of thread will grace the board until then. My name is Scott Campbell, GMG

Ohio Vs. Eastern Michigan For Mac Championship
untcampbell replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes, it is really best if we step aside and leave it to the football specialists. Blindly, GMG -
What I learned most from this story: If you cut out the friendly cackle between Hansen and Campos, he is almost watchable. I haven't watched Channel 8 news (former local news king) in years because of the happy talk between stories. One other thing: We got more time on local news over the decision to keep the coach than we did for any single game (win or lose) we played this year. Publicity, GMG

Yes....these medja guys know nothing about NT....unless they support our agenda. Tenderly, GMG -
Point well made, Green P1. (And Got5OnIt, you are right also...perspective has no place on this board...I would insert smile face here if I could even stand for one minute the emoticons) Underbearingly, GMG

And WKU by 19, but again....not to interfere with the point

So Rick, you are saying that if you cared less than you do, you could bring invite more folks to come to the game? Try it...we need the fans, and you probably could use some blood pressure meds, my friend. I am more worried about whether the way I perform my job will make me the laughing stock of the unemployment line than what others think about my football program. The point about the pal from Utah is that MOST people in the world could give a rats a-- over ANY team in college football other than their own. The fact that he looks at our scores, and doesn't associate our 30th loss in the last three years with anything other than "man, they almost won that thing," shows the myopic view and perhaps disproportionate-to-what-really-matters focus some of us (including me at times) place on our team. Clearly I understand that it is FUNNER to be a passionate fan than the guy who has to wonder what he is going to do with his Fall Saturdays....I am one of you, with all due respect to the greatness of your fandom. Maybe I am an uncompetitive, dispassionate lout, but I can tell you I have never once "laughed my ass off" when I hung up from speaking with friends who are fans of Cleveland or Oakland, or any of the occasionally horrible college programs that grace the competitive landscape. I wasn't laughing my ass off at my SMU friends for the last 25 years, or my Rice friends for most of the last 5 decades or so (I am fully aware of the good seasons these teams have had, as well as the bad). Yes I care greatly for my team, but I REALLY care about putting food on the table for my family, providing my kids decent schools to attend and keeping my marriage happy (and don't let me forget God and country...sound the patriotic music here). Caringly, GMG

I will sleep fine tonight either way. Take a pill, if you must, but go distract yourself. And by the way, the same people who are on this board now (you and I, included) were the only ones that cared before Todd came along, or Dickey, or their two friends and so on. Unless you count the other 11,000-26,000, depending on which of the six games played at home this year, that cared enough to show up to at least one game. I talk to fans at every game that know nothing about this board, or about the inside politics of North Texas athletics, or about how poorly the team has been doing for the last 5+ years. Some fans go to the games because they went or are going to the school. Meanwhile, one of those guys that doesn't care called me up a couple of weeks ago from his home in Salt Lake City, UT and said, "Man, I saw the score of the Army game...you guys played them close." Calmly, GMG

The only lose-lose is for the "fan base" to provide consistently uniformed speculation, some of it presented as if fact and accompanied by the empty threats of "fan quit" syndrome (see The Fake's early season rant and two week vacation, as an example). Christmas is just around the corner, boys and girls. Wait patiently, children. Your day will come, and the 2010 recruiting class is NOT hanging in the balance. Kissingly, GMG

Right 1999. On an earlier thread, Jones was deemed a know-nothing for advising NT to keep Dodge. I would argue the same could be said for Craig. As could be said for many of us on this board, he said with a touch of irony. I am looking forward to a prompt decision, and as has been said already, I can understand the outcome either way it goes. I am really interested in watching how TD has, and will, handle what has to be the greatest adversity he has faced, both professionally and personally. It must be a lonely place for this guy right now. I admire the guy for taking all this crap, and having the desire to dive in ever deeper. Admiringly, GMG

Craig knows as much about this program as Bill Jones. Man, I hate it when the medja talks about us. Silently, GMG

Old guy, I hope that your degree from NT, when you get it, serves you well. You sound like a guy with whom I would enjoy watching a football game. I can't say I know how you feel, but frankly I can't blame anyone from walking away right now. That is not how I choose to play this out, but then again, if I walked out on horrible football (whoever is to blame for its label) everytime I saw it, I would have only seen a handful of games in the last 25 or so years. Further, I refer to our stadium as the Library. It is THE most appropriate place to study on campus...quiet and empty on most game days, or just quiet on days like today. I sit in Section H, upper level. I yell, as do about 5 others in our section. On most game days, there are less than 50 fans in our section and they all know who I am and what to expect....occasionally funny lines, occasional pissed off reaction to a play, a fumble, an interception, LOUD yelling at the appropriate times, etc. But games like today, when we have to share our stands with others, I stir the ire and dirty looks of literally hundreds without uttering a cuss word or doing any other thing other than yelling loud enough to interupt the peace and quiet of the library patrons sitting around me. I quit worrying about it. All the crap I take from those around me (and I exclude and offer thanks to those who just get up and move to another empty section of the stadium) became worthwhile when a fan came up to me after a game and told me he had recently lost his son, a first-time father of a three-month old, in a car wreck. The fan told me his son really enjoyed laughing at the jibberish I throw out as I sink into the despair that is another North Texas loss. And by the way, that fan was in his seat this week, with his usual partners-in-crime. Congrats on finding the one seven-figure donor we have. If the football hasn't run him off or offended him, your drunken performance surely won't. But thanks for your self-discipline, removing yourself without escalation of the event...real man of you. Look, there is no reason to have to "work" at enjoying yourself. If you don't, go find some other place to enjoy your Saturdays. Your empty seat will be in good company, and probably covered in bird caca. But don't let other "fans" run you off...find a place where you are comfortable and be a fan in the way you like to be a fan. GMG

Would Winning The Next Two Games Salvage The Season?
untcampbell replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
I would think the first winning streak (doesn't it have to last more than one game to be defined a streak?) in the Dodge era would have to be seen as a hurdle crossed. No one would be happy with 4-8 but I think we would all be optimistic looking towards a possible third win in a row next September. Beat Army/Anyone, GMG -
Mr Mosely, This has to be the most timely and newsworthy thread I have read on this board in some time. Things I like about this thread: ** It comes from a player's parent. ** Said parent used his real name! ** Historically, most posts from players parents are not positive. ** It provides insight into a program that is counter to almost everything else posted about it. At least from this point of view, the program is not imploding in the locker room, the leadership is strong, the future is bright. I believe I met your family at an Arkansas State game in Jonesboro a couple of years ago. Micah played reall well that night, in a now-common heartbreaking loss. I was proud of our team that night, and your post made my day. Thanks Mr Mosely. GMG

Long shot I am sure, but did the University invite the ex-Commander in Chief that lives near our bowl-bound friends, down the road? Cordially, GMG

I too will be there, with my family of West Point grads and theirs. We will not win this game if the run defense we threw out against FAU and WKU is how we play this weekend. Army does what those guys do, better...run left and right. Ironically, it may be there 6'10 WR that makes the difference though. And yes, we will be outnumbered by the Army (as we were for Navy). Until we win a game against anyone other than WKU, I don't see how anyone can predict WIN. On the other hand, I went to Vegas this weekend and finished up by 65% over my base stack. I had forgotten how good it feels to win...endorphins kicked in big time. But, GMG beat UTA

Well done...this is the irrefutable proof of the "closer the grosser" theory. The durn thing don't look half bad from the distance. Have a feeling Fouts will look a lot better at closing time also. I notice the parking lot looks great when it is full. 2 straight, GMG

(I assume this has been discussed elsewhere, but I couldn't find it) That was the score from the last 30 seconds of the first half through the end of the game. Yes, we let THAT team whip us through the first 29+ minutes of the game. But I like how we responded to being down by 14 points twice in this game. Good find! What do you think the chances are of that date changing? I am planning to take the family up for the game, and for my kids first NYC trip, and want to plan it out as far in advance as possible. GMG

Been gone for a few days, and I finally fought through this diatribe. Thanks to those who contributed the 5 or 6 posts on this thread worth the time. I like reading both sides of the debate. My kryptonite is the vitriol that some feel is the only way to make their point. Reasoned, well-thought out discussion is fun. Honest debate with folks that care deeply about the subject is, frankly, gosh-darned democratic. Lots of capital letters and explanation points sandwiching emoticons and knee jerk is a waste of bandwidth. I know this: when you have a bad meal at a restaurant you truly love, complaining to everyone (patrons, potential patrons, restaurant critics, etc) except the chef harms, and doesn't help. This format enables those who don't give (be it in student fees, services in kind, cash, etc) to the program to complain (and yes, non-givers have the right to complain...heck, I suspect those guys are usually the loudest at my church also). Those that don't give know that they aren't heard very clearly where it matters, so they come here. Those that withhold their support until they get their way find ways not to give even when things change. Those that give know that they have an ear where, when and with whom it matters...and those that give the most, probably get heard the quickest. And I almost forgot: an occasional s-bomb (aimed at the moderator or not) used for emphasis, should not get someone banned for four weeks. Clearly those who give money (A LOT OF MONEY) get no special treatment on this board and, it could be argued, are scrutinized more closely. As one who has been banned for something pretty inane (I think I called The Fake a douche one time), I know the feeling SUMG. But, GMG
