  1. Let me know when you get to softball, Kram. And BTW, thanks so much for your efforts to make the GMG.com 7 game a great day all around. GMG
  2. Tanner Smith, I believe, was at the Spring game. He was 1st team TAPPs all state and Nolan won the state championship in their TAPPS class. 1st Team TE (Athlete) # Name Pos Ht Wt Class School 84Smith, Tanner TE 6'4" 240SR FWN TAPPS District 1 Division 1 All District Offense 1st Team
  3. Not to state the obvious but an improved performance in any of the 14 sports in which we did not win conference would also have been enough to keep us in second. Give me baseball, yes, but being without it is not what has kept us from winning the Bubas Cup...EVER. (Eye opening that WKU will have SEVEN conference championships and NOT win the Bubas cup) GMG
  4. I would take that in a heart beat, Flyer. GMG
  5. Name: untcampbell Height: 5'10" Weight: A frail 165 Speed: slow, for my size Age: 49 and holding Size Tshirt: Large Definitely a late round pick.
  6. Not a QB, but Andy Blount could even things up a bit...he played in the first or second game (maybe both). Fastest (and probably the biggest) guy out there, by a mile. GMG
  7. What is the going rate He charges for naming rights?
  8. Sweep, Clean Softball Beat Middle!
  9. Clearly, I would love to have DT's fourth year back. However, that little 60-yard drive sure provides more hope as we head into the Spring game with a single QB with experience as a starter. Further, I would be THRILLED to get three strong years out of a QB, I don't care who it is. That would beat the average tenure of NT starting QB's, or any other school's for that matter. I am excited about this competition, and will be pulling for the guy that starts. Tune is so used to be counted out of the competition that I expect him to play pretty well this Sunday, and heading into the Fall. GMG
  10. The Ladies are playing up to the competition. Coming off the win over UT a few weeks back (number 15 at the time, I think), NT is up 5-0, on 7 hits as they head to the third inning in Waco. Baylor is #24 in the country. Freshman Brittany Simmons is pitching well, taking just 6 pitches to get through the second. A win today would even up her record at 4-4. How about a triple header on Sunday? Ladies tennis against Rice at 11 Ladies softball against Middle at noon Mean Green football against Mean Green football at 3:00 GMG
  11. I am confident that the PPG given up by the defense will continue to improve in 2010, both for the reasons that The Fake offers and because the offensive improvement that we anticipate will result in reduced turnovers and increased time of possession. Hopefully that translates into more offensive points scored, fewer defensive points allowed and more wins for the good guys. GMG
  12. Thanks CO and Gray Eagles. That would have been pretty routine research to do, but I was too lazy to hit one additional website! How could I forget the role he played on team Big Dance I? GMG
  13. Anyone know if Tim Duryea, at Utah State, is the Tim Duryea that played (and I believe asst coached) at NT? Think he played for us in the early 90's and was a Denton boy. GMG
  14. We have four attending, AA on points. Staying at the Doubletree Suites at Times Square Thursday-Sunday, also on points. Will rent a car out of the city Saturday morning. Hopefully on points. Looking to buy tickets. With points? Will see my West Point cadet cousin while we are there, and hope some family West Point alums will join us. Saw the last NT-Army game, in the snow. I left feeling a lot better about the future of the country. GMG
  15. From a preview of the Class 5A Division I semifinal, December 2007 Trinity (13-1): vs Plano (13 - 1)...this was Rex Burkhead's junior year. KEEP AN EYE ON ... Trinity RB Samir Baker Baker uses his speed and power to burst through the gaps provided by Trinity's imposing offensive line. The 5-6, 177-pound senior has 251 carries for 1,791 yards and 16 TDs. Baker was part of a tailback tandem for most of the season, but he has shouldered much of the running burden with junior RB Dontrayevous Robinson out with a leg injury. Plano WR Grant Davis Davis is part of a talented group of receivers who have helped Plano's spread offense flourish. He had eight catches for 114 yards and a touchdown last week, giving him 51 catches for 961 yards and seven touchdowns this season. The 6-3, 195-pound senior has great hands and has averaged 18.8 yards per catch.
  16. Mariza Martinez made the catch of the year. Thanks to Rick Yeatts for capturing it. http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=9337&SPID=574&DB_OEM_ID=1800&ATCLID=204909937 GMG
  17. Didn't Cat Osterman film a UA commercial awhile back at our field? I Love(lace) the irony of that. Congrats to my second favorite North Texas taam....Go Mean Green! Go out and see our softball team play...you will greatly enjoy it!
  18. If you can't beat one SBC school, go find one that you can. GMG
  19. As one who has very little stake in the game (I don't post often, and when I do it rarely provides much significance), I will be up front on how I vote: 1) If you ask, lobby or pander for points you get a minus. Like the bozos who throw beads from the Bourbon Street balconies without seeing the boobs, those who give popularity points or respond to the beg are cheapening the currency. Don't ask. 2) If the only possible explanation for your post is to hijack or derail the thread, you get a minus. In all likelihood, I will run out of reputation points each day. 3) Any post that comments on another post, that reflects the writer can not pick up on obvious sarcasm, gets a minus. 4) Conversely, if you are providing valued insight (positive or negative) that is well-stated and , in my view, reasonable in its tone, you get a positive. I will rarely run out of points for this category. 5) Those who have a very strong reputation (even before the point system was offered) are graded on a curve...each post from the geniuses must stand on its own, and is held to a higher standard. Said genius does not get points based solely on past relevance. GMG
  20. King, While no one questions the brilliance of The Fake or TTG, I have been convinced that the reasoned ramblings on this board have no affect on anyone. "People with lives" don't read message boards (too sad that the potent pleadings for Dr Gretchen to un-resign and the heartfelt thank you's for her service to our great university were missed by her...clearly, she is a woman with a life). Potential recruits look past the negative spewdom that is sprinkled liberally across college message boards. I am told almost daily that we place too much importance on the true meaning of words in our little community, that we can say pretty much whatever we want and it will not affect anyone. Knowing this, I have a hard time believing even the smart guys on this board have much of a role in how our Athletic Department is run. On the other hand, I would welcome those with complete recall of all these words that mean nothing to list what they believe to be the accomplishments achieved by this athletic department, and the posts here that made them happen. GMG
  21. Scout's listing for D'Andre Wood lists the former North Carolina commit as running a 4.32 forty. If accurate, would that be the fastest 40 time on the team?
  22. K State....Nov 27....here.
  23. May have been posted, but the well-respected Salina Journal reports today that the NT game was pushed back to the season finale for both teams, Nov 27. GMG
  24. Corinth Eagle's post (and gobitchandcomplainabout everything.com) is what made this thread worthwhile I guess we are going to have to put up with repetitive bitching, complaining, assorted pablum puking and snide remarks that question the intelligence of the "apologists" and AD staff from those that didnt get their way, until they do (get their way). Face it boys, this school, my school, will do nothing right until it gets rid of its head coach....and this type of thread will grace the board until then. My name is Scott Campbell, GMG
  25. Yes, it is really best if we step aside and leave it to the football specialists. Blindly, GMG
