  1. I spent a few minutes up on club level and it was very busy. I think the number they are tossing out there is accurate...many more, and more into it, than FAU. But still disappointing that homecoming didn't get a few more out. GMG
  2. our highest rated recruit ever = 4th string quarterback (ironic to those that don't know the backstory) GMG
  3. This comment isn't specific to this particular time change but to the 4:00 game time in general: Last week in Lafayette, my son and I went to get a bite to eat after the game...the game that started at 4:00 pm. Every restaurant we went to was packed with red shirts. Every restaurant was full around 7:30 or 8:00 pm. If I were a business in Denton, I would be overjoyed about 4:00 pm game times. GMG
  4. We are going to the game at noon, have our tailgate food at the lunch hour...cool. Then the game will be done at 7, or 8:45 if we have a bunch of those internet streaming timeouts, and we will have dinner at a nice place while we watch the Rangers. Feel bad for those that don't have the flexibility, but I am actually a fan of this game time...hoping they schedule games in the future at that time. Either way, we need as many people as possible to come home for the game, pre- and post-game activities, and support the school, the team and the future. GMG
  5. Scattershooting: ULL was better than us. We were lucky to hang in there as long as we did. I think the defense (outside of the accomplished per game quota of 3-4 broken plays) played well enough for us to win but we were overmatched for size and speed. Not really sure why they leave Royce on an island like they do. Their WR's were taller and faster, and their QB just floated passes that stayed up long enough for their guy to get to it. But overall, on defense, we overperformed. D gave us enough breaks to win. But like the wowboys yesterday, if you don't take advantage of your gifts, you lose. We had the short field three times and got 3 points, as I recall. We missed a FG and had one blocked. Finishing drives would be nice on many levels: you keep the ball longer, force their offense to play differently, rest your defense. Execution really enhances your play calling, I am beginning to notice. Dunbar's one look at daylight, a 15-18 yard run in the second half, was called back for a hold. Total turn around in the game. One aspect I would like NT to adapt from ULL's "scheme:" when they got up big late, they snapped the ball at 1 or 2 on the play clock consistently. And why is it that I only felt one time that a TV timeout was slowing the game down? For each of the 20 or so internet time outs at one of our home games, things stop down for what seems like five minutes. GMG
  6. Cajun Dave, I enjoyed meeting your krewe the last time we played in Lafayette. We made an effort to see you guys this year, but I was cut off by other truly nice and generous ULL fans. Good eating, good discussion. This is my favorite road trip in the SBC and I hope that we stay together post-realignment. GMG
  7. Assuming similar math is used in the Sunbelt, the exit fee would be about $27.73, give or take a penny. GMG
  8. Man, what we will do to get the attention of another conference. #anywherebutthebelt GMG
  9. Somewhat on the subject...does the boots and short skirt look do a little something for you, as it does for me? Add in the NT boots and the ED is cured. GMG
  10. If we beat Lala then front pant stains. If we lose to Lala then back pant stains. GMG
  11. Deep, I highly recommend you go straight to the tailgate (not that you know me to take my recommendation). Two years ago, I took my kids to a fun little cajun joint out on the highway (Prejeans...really a tourist trap) for lunch. We ate a lot, toured the campus that includes the alligator swamp right in the middle and then went to the stadium around 3:00 pm. Had lots to do for the three hours before the game but I didn't enjoy the food that all these tailgaters offered as much because we ate so much for lunch. I suggest you go eat with these good folks, and if you are hungry after the game, go get the good meal you describe above. GMG
  12. Uhm, never mind... Upon further review (the next topic I opened), it must be the Krewe de Chew. Thanks to the good people of the University of Louisiana! GMG
  13. Hey Cajun. Can you tell me the name of the group that sets up the big trailer with 4-5 food stations? I think they are at the SW corner of the stadium. Excellent food and hospitality. As a matter of fact, when we went to Lafayette two years ago, we were asked to join in with at least 8 different tailgates....called by name: "Hey Mean Green, come over here and eat some food." My favorite road trip now (except New Orleans). GMG
  14. I think my son and I are making the trip. Not sure where we are staying yet, but the 4:00 homecoming start makes for an interesting dynamic. In my mind, tailgating for lunch (not between lunch and dinner) is ideal. I hope to see you boys/girls down there. GMG
  15. It is a knee jerk generation, mi amigos. Really, friends don't let friends post on the board post the intoxication mind game of a blow out...you will regret what you say later. And if you don't, you should. Thanks Matt for your perspective. Honestly, and I am sure I will get flamed on this, but my post was intended to call out those who claim, "there will be two empty seats." Basically, if you ain't coming, then let me have your tickets...but we know you are going to be there. I plan, and the guests I am bringing plan, to buy our tickets. The one caveat is that there are a few adults bringing 3 and 4 year olds. NT03, if you have an extra ticket, I would love to have it. I promise it will be used on one of the 3-4 year olds. Adults pay full price! GMG (written post-Cristinas so I blame any offensive comment on the margarita)
  16. Thanks for the knee jerk cure. GMG
  17. Many on the FB board implied they will not be going next week because of the Tulsa game. We will have a group of approximately 35-40. I need roughly 20 tickets. I will likely buy a group so I can get seats together. However, if you really AREN'T going to the game and want to give your tickets away, please let me know. Thanks in advance, and thanks for your support of the Mean Green. GMG
  18. Last night, as he was going to commercial break, Babe Laufenberg announced, "And for you UNT fans, your highlights are coming up next." When he came back from break, he showed all three NT touchdowns, saying about Lance Dunbar, "I love that guy." After saying that North Texas beat his alma mater, he called Indiana a really bad football team (but not in a way that was detracting from our win). Then, one of the guys that sits in front of me at Apogee (he works at Channel 11), brought out a big North Texas flag, held it up in front of Babe and then wrapped Babe in it in a sports hug. If anyone happened to DVR this, please post. Babe was very nice at the game and gave NT big love on the air. Channel 11: 43% less happy talk than the market leader! Watch it. GMG
  19. Great weekend for the Mean Green....NT soccer takes two. VB splits. Almost forgot...NT football WON! Winning beats losing. GMG
  20. I have always liked Babe from afar (as a TV viewer, radio listener) but thought much higher of him tonight. He had some friends, some NT fans that include a guy that works for Channel 11, in the family section 110 (NW corner of the end zone and spent the fourth quarter with these guys. Fans were coming up and asking for pictures with him and he just seemed like a really nice, humble guy. Smiling, receptive to fans, etc. He had a name tag on and I yelled over to him, "Hey Babe, I think you can take off the name tag now." He looked down at the tag, obviously having forgotten it was there, and laughed and ripped it off his shirt. I asked him if he brought Cuban with him, and Babe said he didn't know if Cuban came to the game. My sister-in-law got a picture with him and took the name tag sticker home! (as an aside, I spoke to about 20 IU fans during the course of the game, all very nice...all living now in Texas) GMG
  21. Went to the ticket office this afternoon to pick up some parking passes. Line for students had 20 people. A couple of people in the non-student line. Went inside and there were about 20 people in the gift shop including a few from Indiana. Staff appeared VERY busy. Nice to see. GMG
  22. Ironic but I was listening to a great Weezer song, "Only in Dreams," as I read your post. Dream big, bruthuh. GMG
  23. Dream on, bruthuh. GMG
  24. BTS, BTS, BTS! GMG
