  1. I heard about this game in at least 3 different ways: ** There was no Coach Dan show tonight because of the WBB game. This was discussed during the Troy game by MGRN. ** Hank mentioned the WBB game at least twice during the radio broadcast of the Troy game on the MGRN. ** Twitter....during the day, and then I got about 30 tweets from the game. Felt like I was there, while I was dining with a customer in STL. GMG
  2. Agree...three converted third downs...and Thompson RAN THE PLAY CLOCK DOWN THROUGHOUT THE DRIVE. Excellent use of 7+ minutes. GMG
  3. Plans changed. Screw the 7-year old (Sandusky: should not be used out of context) nephew's championship soccer game. Will be at the Death Star to see Marcus playoff game. Anyone got an "in" with Jerry to put NT/Troy up on the big screen? GMG
  4. My cousin brought his 1400 pounder to the red/blue lot earlier this year, and fed 50. No problems. We got there about 8 am. One thing to note, at least in this lot: Once you are in, you are in. Can't leave. About noon, six hours before the game, we realized we wouldnt have enough ice. Couldn't leave. That is one of a few policies I would like to see changed...flexibility from up top would be useful. May I come by for some smoked BBQ? GMG
  5. PM me if you will take my bet. I will take NT and the points. GMG
  6. The discussion about transfers also required the transfer to have a full release before anyone can speak with said transfer, and if understood correctly, I think the transfer, even with release has to reach out to the university first. Late in the program, conference talk was discussed. I wondered if the positive he discussed at the first of the program was related to conference realignment. GMG
  7. I am in Keller when the game starts (seeing my 7-year old nephew's soccer game...playing for the league championship). Any mid-cities area venues that may show the game? Lunch and game would set up perfectly for the scheduled body functions I have to deal with later in the day. GMG
  8. Just an aside, but I wagered this game while in Lost Wages. I was in a meeting but was trying to keep an eye on this game. After ULL got down early, they ran off 24...and then they just stopped for the 3Q. Looks like Gautier got hurt (or was replaced for some other reason). He came back in the 4th, and so did the team to grab the win. That second QB is pretty important to a football team, yes. GMG
  9. Ugh....4-3 loss on shootout. Great season, ladies. GMG
  10. Fake, could it just be that fate worked to our benefit and we played three really crappy teams at home? FAU is winless, scoring 82 points through the first 7 games. ULM has a win against a D1-AA (old school, I know) and Troy (not the Troy we all know and love). Indiana has one win, also against a D1-AA school. Perhaps we are who we thought we are...and we weren't good enough (YET) to let the rest of them off the hook. GMG
  11. I defer to the sports geniuses on this board (no sarcasm): I understand this is a move to an AQ conference, and with it the implicit national publicity, etc, and that might be enough, but what other tangible advantages does this move hold for SMU and Houston? I suppose the AQ conference guarantees pay for the cost of non-rev sport travel all over the country...from Boise to the East Coast! From a fan perspective, I value a conference where, among other things, I can see my team play other teams for which I have some connection, i.e. that I care about, and that are close enough that I can travel to with relative ease and limited expense. Not many teams in the Sunbelt qualify. Lots of teams in C-USA qualify. Probably just a question of perspective. I would love to make the move into C-USA. For SMU and Houston, this is the logical next step, and I suppose they are banking on a future Big 12 invite to rectify the travel concerns. GMG
  12. Don't disagree with your logic, Fake. Very well stated. I am not sure why Coach Mac (or Canales?) hasn't gotten Osborn off the bench the past few weeks, but I don't think it is because they are intentionally losing games, directing our players to lay down, etc. That would infer that McNulty and his offensive teammates have nothing to gain from some success, or that they somehow gain from "mailing it in." Its not like we are in the Suck for Luck sweepstakes! GMG
  13. This is the vast conspiracy that is North Texas football: We only hire coaches that purposefully set their own careers aside and deliberately and intentionally lose games. Can someone provide me motive for why any coach would do that? These coaches, the offensive coaches only, correct, have "mailed it in (I read that QUIT)" on their family, their players, their team, without regard to their future careers and incomes? C'mon Fake...you cannot believe that, can you? I don't. And just to clarify, I do not blindly follow everything these guys are doing. But for now, I will trust the coaches, the players, the department are all doing what they believe to best for the program, are giving everything they have to improve its future and want (almost as badly as we do, I am sure) to win. Sometimes you aren't as big, as fast, as good....not sure if that is the case here, but it may have something to do with it. Reality says we haven't been very good for a VERY long time, even against teams we THINK we should be better than....a VERY long time. That is not to fault a single player on this team. I am proud of every guy on this team. I think this coach and this staff can move us forward, and one can argue it is happening right in front of our eyes. Get healed, get better and FINISH! GMG
  14. Agree H-town. I trust my players, and my coaches. They don't "mail it in" on the road. They do their best every day, and do so, proudly, for their school, for their families and for themselves. Sometimes that is not good enough, but I don't question their effort, their heart or their intent. Players, coaches: if I have given you too much credit, please come tell me I am wrong. GMG
  15. I have a question for those that know football better than I. This may just be semantics, but if you have a scholarship on a D-1 football team, why would you not be considered a D-1 football player even if you don't see the field? I have interviewed a few guys and girls that included collegiate scholarship athlete on their resume. I am confident they all sweat, miss a lot of school for which they are held responsible and put in a great deal of hours in practice, weight room, film prep, team and position meetings, travel and game duty, whether they ever play or not. I like to see kids, and adults for that matter, work for what they get. Those that don't blame their coaches/bosses for their failures, and are don't give them a great deal of credit for their successes, are the folks I want on my team. Accountability and self worth without self adoration are important on a team, in an office and in life. And I believe most, if not all, of our players fit that mold. Take some time to heal, get better and FINISH. GMG
  16. "Although given the fact that we have now lost 4 potential starters/contributors under this current staff I can see where it might be a safe prediction." This doesn't make it any better for NT, but it does happen elsewhere...safe predictions are probably being made all over the UF board. GAINESVILLE -- Citing a lack of playing time, tight end Gerald Christian and wide receiver Robert Clark will transfer from Florida. The university and coach Will Muschamp announced their decisions Tuesday. Christian and Clark, both sophomores, went to Palm Beach Gardens Dwyer High before coming to Florida and playing limited roles. “Both of these players have expressed a desire for more playing time and felt that it would be in their best interests to transfer,” Muschamp said. “We wish them both the best of luck and appreciate their contributions to the program.” Nine players have left the program since Muschamp took over, and the Gators now have just 72 players on scholarship. Christian caught a touchdown pass in the Kentucky game and had four catches for 72 yards this season. Clark did not have a catch this season. Both players practiced during the bye week, meaning their transfers came as a surprise to offensive coordinator Charlie Weis. “We didn’t lose them; they decided to go,” Weis said. “You wish them well and you move on.” Read more: http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/10/26/2472082/two-players-transferring-from.html#ixzz1cHr7L3ct For those that stay, and I am going to make a (safe) prediction that most will, I appreciate the effort you guys put into this thing. The equivalent effort, time and sacrifice of a full time job that all of our student athletes put into their respective sports, while juggling a little studying and classroom time, is to be admired. Take a week to heal up, get better and FINISH! GMG
  17. I am not the one that sets the rules on this board, but I would assume, Rick, that 'safe predictions' are allowed. I will leave it to the player to decide what is best for him. GMG
  18. My apology for not getting it absolutely correct, but the inference below is close enough, Rick: "Ossy's getting the shaft. I hope for his sake he leave (sic) at the end of the year. If he thinks he'll ever be in an even competition at UNT for QB much less waterboy and he's lying to him (sic)." GMG
  19. Don't try to reason with this fan base, Arkstfan. Some of the manic/depressives here are encouraging our own guys to transfer. By the way Arkstfan, I am not a fan of Jonesboro...something voodoo-ish happens when we play them. Have been to two games there. One in 2007 back when a Dodge team got up 21-0 that we lost 31-27 on a long pass with 2 seconds left. The other was way back in the late 80's, before Prozac. We lost something like 72-0. AState ran out of fireworks that year, literally. I am not happy about the game at all, but please admit this: there IS a talent difference from top to bottom, even in the Belt. Throw in some injuries at some key-placed positions, and its not even that good. One day, we will be on the right side of that difference. And we will not ask our players to transfer. Flame away, lads. GMG
  20. Very proud of this great soccer team. Continued success among our "minor" sports makes them MAJOR to me! Do well in the tournament! GMG
  21. The butterfly flapped its wings causing a breeze that I felt as I reached out to touch it. As I got close, it flinched, and paused, and as I reached out again, hoping to share the glorious moment, it flew away. And landed nearby. Tonight at 7:05, I will wait for it to land on me.

  22. Thanks untgirl. I interpreted the spirit of your post...and get your point completely. Your eloquent positioning of the issue is why I felt compelled to make the offer. GMG
  23. untgirl, PM me. I think a better solution for all will be found if you bring it to the attention of those that can assist. In the meantime, I will give you my cell. Call me if needed, and I will give you my club pass. Maybe you can find some space up there. GMG
  24. The Bynes shot is MONEY! The stadium looks great, he makes a great catch, perfect lighting! Great job! GMG
