  1. I would expect DMac, with his recent ties to Florida, may be able to make a few phone calls this week. FIU has about 12-15 3 star commits, including two from New Orleans (DT and DE). The QB they recruited apparently is already on campus. Recruiting is ruthless...can't wait for Wednesday. GMG
  2. UCF points allow by game - 2011 (I would have enjoyed both of these games more had we given up this number of points) FIU - 17 Tulsa - 24 GMG
  3. Thought this was in jeapordy for a while: Source: the fountain of misinformation known as Wikipedia... The 2007 Navy vs. North Texas football game featured the most points scored in a college football game involving D-IA/FBS opponents during the regulation four quarters of play since the NCAA began keeping records in 1937. GMG
  4. Admitting naïveté here, but I always find it a challenge to think that any coach would put his chance at the "next big job" at risk to intentionally play the kid with less ability just because said coach played football with said kid's father. There is a lot of money to be made in coaching these days. I don't fault anyone's sense of loyalty for putting his own family's financial future ahead of a friendship with an old football buddy. It may be an easy out to say Coach played McNulty because Coach knows his dad real well. I don't know what it is, but I suspect there is some other reason. Coach can coach....I will leave it at that. 5. From DQJ's twitter feed: This what they gave me when I got to the hotel twitter.com/dqjohnson8/sta… GMG
  6. Harry, I have been away from the board for a few days, but didn't you tweet that Hall attended the banquet a couple of weeks ago? GMG
  7. If Erwin (FM Marcus coach) can handle the "circus," I am betting McCarney can also. When Erwin replaced Sanders with Erwin's son at QB in 2010, though I was not privy to the behind the scenes interactions, all outward appearances were handled well. Erwin found plenty of ways to involve Sanders in the offense. The Sanders family brings transfere a contingent to every game...it is fun to have them in the stands. GMG
  8. Hopefully we will be turning to you again next year, as possibly some 2013 CH commits start to roll in. Appreciate the updates, and the journalistic finish. -30- GMG
  9. Josh Hamilton = Booger Kennedy mini-me? Looks quick into the backfield on that sack. GMG
  10. From the picture, all I can figure is that Mr Sinclair might serve as an honorary coach today. I will follow his Caring Bridge entries to see what he says, and hope to see him at the game today. From Nov 11: "Next week we are meeting with our Make-A-Wish "Wish Granter's". They are coming to our home to meet our family. We can not be more excited." Prayers for Mr Sinclair. GMG
  11. Cam Washington may take inspiration from Hunter Lee's story...their sagas seem to parallel. You remember Hunter Lee, the Flower Mound running back who couldn't get anyone to give him a scholarship? The one that walked on at Louisiana Tech this year and just snagged a WAC player of the week honor? Yes, that Hunter Lee. Hunter got himself a scholarship last week. Love guys that get more and more pissed off, increasingly determined to accomplish, every time they are told NO. http://highschoolsportsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2011/11/former-flower-mound-rb-hunter-lee-is-wac.html GMG
  12. One should never post when inebriated...how can I forget Soccer, the Queen of Women's Sports at NT!? GMG
  13. Swimming/diving, tennis, softball, WBB...lady Eagles represent. (I am sure I left out sports that excel, but these are the sports I enjoy following) Well done in H-town, Coach A...a JRome fan are you? GMG
  14. Just to complete the ball drop circle, the following email came to my IN box, with full details of ball being carried across the goal line. 16. Sherman gone at A$M. Big time college football rules!

  17. From Eric Capper's twitter account: Dan MCcarney grants #MeanGreen wish of 9-year old cancer patient William Sinclair . http://yfrog.com/khzw5mljhttp://bit.ly/uEkSvP GMG
  18. Both channel 11 and 8 (please cut the happy talk crap, Gloria) reporting the strong rain bands that are expected Saturday won't get to Denton until after 6:00 pm. Stray showers in the morning, nothing during the game and gulley washer after. No excuses. Finish. GMG
  19. My apology, fellas. Link up top. GMG
  20. And maybe the last line voiced also. A compelling and well-acted profession of passion...and how North Texas is perceived in this mix. Dang it...forgot the link! GMG
  21. It will be chilly. The game doesn't matter to most in Denton, but they still have a great stadium to sell. The more that see it this year, the more may come next year....when we are winning! I, and I trust those who sell food in the concessions, would rather have butts in seat, even free butts, than buttless seats. I think it is a worthwhile investment in the future. GMG
  22. Far be it for me to take up for SMU fan, but the last three posts provide objective insight into the "crowd" at SMU this past weekend. Thanksgiving weekend. Cold weather. No title or bowl eligibility on the line. Why, by the way, do most stadiums insist on providing camera views that show the less populated side of the field? And this bit of insight from BPF sounds like he is talking about NT: You can't suck for (all but 4 of the last xx number of years) 20 years and expect fans to jump right back on board. This year didn't have one exciting home game, and this last game (is) was expected to be a dud. In all likelihood, we will be facing similar cold weather this coming weekend, though we will have the benefit of students being back in class. It would be nice to see a good crowd witness our seniors playing their last game. I look forward to a run-first game plan that favors Dunbar's pursuit of the record in front of enough fans to beat the attendance record. Finish, boys. GMG
  23. The article in the USA Today was accompanied by a picture of Coach McCarney, on the sideline with shades, that mentioned his salary and the salary of the coach he replaced. Three other coaches were pictured, but I can't remember in what context. GMG
  24. I heard about this game in at least 3 different ways: ** There was no Coach Dan show tonight because of the WBB game. This was discussed during the Troy game by MGRN. ** Hank mentioned the WBB game at least twice during the radio broadcast of the Troy game on the MGRN. ** Twitter....during the day, and then I got about 30 tweets from the game. Felt like I was there, while I was dining with a customer in STL. GMG
  25. Agree...three converted third downs...and Thompson RAN THE PLAY CLOCK DOWN THROUGHOUT THE DRIVE. Excellent use of 7+ minutes. GMG
