  1. With all due respect to North Texas most iconic fan, FFR is the only guy I know who can talk people out of supporting his argument, even those that think he has a point or two, solely in the way he presents it. And before he tells you about me, I live in FM, my kids loved to play on the field after games and do the spirit line at half time, I voiced my discontent on both their and my behalf and my kids joined me in taking it like adults, and found something else fun to do at the games. What else have I done that you remember, and I have forgotten? GMG
  2. From Scotland, thank you for the update, KRAM, et al. Proud of my school, wish I could time my travels to make some of these events. Slàinte, GMG
  3. I got a good feeling about this, LT. Congrats, my football and softball brother. GMG
  4. http://instagram.com/p/cZrJTqrlZm/ Why you have a football team. GMG, and welcome @C_always_Wright
  5. I have discussed this in a previous post: The "have nots" must band together on pricing the money games. If the "elite" want to shut us out of the post season and make themselves the exclusive, we need to price the money games at no less than $2,000,000. From Idaho to UAB, from NMSU to Akron, none of us should give the big guys a "weekend off" for less than $2 million...with the possible exception of if Big 5 gives Little 5 a home and home. Force these 60 teams to play 12 weeks in a row against each other and 1-2 losses each season will be the norm, even among the elites....sure will take some of the glamour away from a 12-0 vs. a 12-0 national championship game. 6. That Drex is a good human. GMG
  7. Coach Hubbard said the hardest part of recruiting to NT softball is when you have to show the recruit and her parents where they will be going to the bathroom between innings. I believe adman is correct. Facilities will be shared by baseball and softball. GMG
  8. The hallowed grounds of Lovelace!
  9. Need to fully recognize RAGEMASTER5000 (I think that is the name of the station wagon on the old Vacation movie). It was his suggestion that started all of this. And he gave us our catcher, Phillip, and the great Limbs, Rover and Bench Coach! Thanks RAGE! GMG
  10. Great total! Very much appreciate everyone. I am in next year...but cede coaching responsibilities to proven winners...like Emmitt! Any feedback would be appreciated on how we can improve the event next year, but man, Commissioner Mark just does a great job with these events. Meant to mention in another thread how much I appreciate the guys from NT that helped...apologize if I don't get these names right: Trey Askew, facilities coordinator, who made sure the field was in beautiful shape for us...great outfield grass! Brian (?), who did an excellent job announcing. Thanks to Ms. Atterberry and Michelle (Michagb) for getting us organized and collecting cash. Enjoyed meeting you both. I am sure I missed some, and got names wrong. But we appreciate everyone that helped. GMG
  11. Humbly, the White team had too much to overcome under the burden of the coaching. Really enjoyed this outing, meeting a few new friends, eating a BBQ sandwich prepared by the great Dale and playing under the tutelage of Commissioner Mark (who made the call on the Grand Slam by Carey). Also appreciate all who bid on silent auction items. My favorite moment: White team SS Emily, who played WBB at NT as an OU transfer, comes to the plate and jacks one...foul by inches. Both Emily and Limbs came to play, and were stars for the white team. Rules I would reconsider: Start with 1 strike, no balls (quiet, you). If a male walks with a female next up, give the female the option to hit. Very much appreciate all who came out and donated money to support the softball team. Sadly there was no announcement about the new coach, but a nice foundation has been laid by Coach Hubbard, with plenty of upside ahead. Thanks to all. GMG
  12. While smack to this point has been limited, on the eve of the first GMG.com co-ed softball game to raise funds for NT softball, I ask the sainted White team to UNiTe, to be ready to play all seven (we are down to eleven players), and to get head right with ball, as you mentally prepare for a most awesome victory over the hated Green team. We are 11...brothers and sisters glove to glove. I have heard from Emmitt01, NT03, rws69, Green Crazy, curtisdaa and UNT90. We lost a female, with the devastating news that Wendy was called into work tomorrow. O-Fresh, LImbs, David, Rudy? We need you! Email me this evening at untcampbell@gmail.com, if you get a chance. By the way, I have a reasonably usable extra glove, if anyone needs one. Please bring your wallet...make a bid on a silent auction item, enter the home run derby (winner splits the pot with our benefactor), pay your entry fee, buy a beverage. And please kids, if you signed up and can't make the game, please make sure we get your money. Commissioner KRAM fronted the money for the shirts, and we can't leave the man hanging (unless it is on a zip line). Can't wait to step on the vaunted Lovelace Stadium natural grass...go White! GMG
  13. The Commissioner has some pretty nice legs. See you mañana. GMG
  14. To you, and those like you, thank you. That you are willing to serve and sacrifice for this great country....my family and I appreciate you. GMG
  15. Cue classical music: Ritz Carlton! Or the The Saint, right next door (probably for the hipster crowd). The Sheraton on Canal works. The W in the FQ...neat courtyard. But honestly, get any hotel you can afford and then stay out all night. GMG
  16. I think we are just playing from 10-noon. Coaches can get player input to see if playing a set number of innings is best. I lean to playing until Mama calls me in for supper. GMG
  17. Man, I liked Paige. I think this years recruiting class will provide plenty of replacement, but always hate to see a good one go. Maybe we can get word on the search Saturday at the game. GMG
  18. White team needs pitching....anyone? GMG
  19. Rules will be posted later today, pending agreement from both coaches. GMG
  20. I ain't much of a coach, but I know enough that I have to replace my vacant space(s), with commissioner approval of course. Give Attaway a white jersey! unt88, what would Jason (that Attaway, correct?) like as his jersey name? GMG
  21. This is a good "fine dining on a budget" article (its all relative): http://www.gonola.com/2013/06/07/gonola-top-5-new-orleans-fine-dining-on-a-budget.html Lots of twitter stuff here: @VisitNewOrleans GMG
  22. The list of places to eat is long: But I would start at Drago's for the grilled oysters...and go to the Metairie location if you are coming in from the airport or driving from Texas. I always seem to go to the Hilton location downtown, out of convenience, and they are never as good as the original. On second thought, go somewhere else for grilled oysters, like Acme....once you go to Drago's, you will never eat them anywhere else again. Let us know what your budget is for food, drink and hotel. You can spend a lot or a little for all three, and probably be happy with the first two whichever price range you are in. GMG
  23. I was going to reach out to you Harry, if you didn't jump on board quick! Glad you are playing!! GMG
  24. Thanks Rudy, for that immediate response to KRAM's request for ladies. GMG
