  1. A little side discussion during the game and today's viewing of the most recent Beyond The Green reminded me to mention this: Brelan Chancellor will be the guy I miss watching (on Saturday's anyway) more than any NT player since Booger Kennedy. Johnny Quinn was a player I LOVED to watch play (not as much as Quoner obviously) and there have been others, but I reserve this accolade for players that truly change the way opposing coaches plan their game...and it just doesn't matter. So happy that Brelan's last game at North Texas included a few plays to add to his highlight reel. Who would you add to the list? GMG
  2. Went to all 4 NOB's. Love the city of New Orleans and the efforts the city puts into welcoming its guests. Everyone remembers and enjoys their "first time," so NOB 1 has that going for it. Beating Cinn and seeing the diarrhea/disgust face of that QB makes that NOB my favorite. But having so many of my "regulars" with me on New Years Day for the game in the Cotton Bowl made it special....the special-ist. I will go with HOD. GMG (today = least productive work day ever)
  3. Two of the boys that joined us for the game (loyal supporters for 7-8 years now) will be going to UT in the Fall. At our post-game tailgate yesterday, the moms and dads and boys decided that our 3-4 boys going to UNT in August, and their parents, will be going to Austin to see the game on August 30 with the UT traitors! We have about 20 commits so far. And one of the other boys, going to A$M, said he will join us also! #HitUT GMG
  4. That was pretty cool, Joe....thanks for the kind words. Brett Vito gets the +1 on that. I don't subscribe to the DRC here in FM, but there are some newspapers you have to hold in your hand. And his HOD Bowl special section required the purchase (as will today's newspaper). And there was a good man, Joe (and his gracious and beautiful wife Brenda) staring at me in the Anniversary section. I thought it was cool that the article said (paraphrasing) that Joe and Brenda would be celebrating their anniversary at the game. Isn't it great that January 1 is still football season? GMG
  5. My gosh, Brett! Helluva job! GMG
  6. Thanks for sharing John....how great is it to be the toast of the town. Our university benefitted from lots of publicity this week. Let's resolve to document the tangible upside a University (and a community, Denton) gets by funding and supporting athletics. GMG
  7. Kevin, So proud and appreciative of your continued passion and support. It is a reflection of the growth of the program, of the leadership displayed, when the parents of Letterman stay involved, engaged and joyfully elated about NT football. I know Troy watched the game with pride. After I saw you post-game, I thought a lot about all the hard work that he and so many other guys put into building a foundation for a team that wins. GMG
  8. Sorry to get back on topic, but seeing this thread makes me wonder* if I displayed "bad parenting" by allowing my kid, and 4-5 others that I took to the game, to make the trek down to the field. Each had a story about how they had to "time their jump" to avoid "SECURITY." Advice will be duly noted, fellow parents (and by the way, if as a parent you are already "wonder"ing, you know what the right answer is). GMG
  9. Thanks for spotlighting Kenny Buyers. Watching the game last night, I said that Kenny Buyers is my favorite player on the team. Guy is on an island most of the time, and his open field tackling is a delight to watch. We were talking in the stands about who gets the HOD MVP....Buyers got two votes of the 10 voters in my section. GMG
  10. Dandy Killeen, his producer, is a NT alumni and sells Babe on NT all the time. Used to see a Booger bobblehead on his Sunday night show a lot. My nephew was on the sidelines taking pics for the Daily today, and got a nice pic of Dandy and Babe, both flashing the claw! GMG
  11. Whatever the attendance was, that was the most North Texas fans assembled for a football game in...ever. GMG
  12. Wow! Nice end to the 2013 NT sports year. Let's start 2014 as strong! GMG
  13. Mr. Paranoid here: We are coming in a bit later (8:30 am from Carrollton station). Any chance these trains are full? GMG
  14. Tune in to 570 AM right now (8:46 am)...I haven't heard the interview but I think my son is about to talk about the game a bit. GMG
  15. 817! Nice gathering! This is what a bowl game should enable....the bringing out of the fans (diehards, regulars, fair weather, bandwagon jump-onners, non-associated Dentonites, first-timers, Dallas municipal employees, the homeless), and an excuse to gather up as many friends, frat or major mates, drinking buddies, etc to enjoy one last day of college football for the 2013-2104 season. Bring out your GREEN! GMG
  16. Nope, just ordered his ticket after the rest of us...we'll squeeze him in! GMG
  17. Section 24 Row 13 (1) Row 27 (19) Row 28 (5) Row 29 (5) GMG
  18. Please tell me you are speaking of flip-flops, Got5. GMG
  19. Very proud of my son (and my wife and daughter!)...and very humbled by the kind words. Thanks much, and Mr. Fincher, your words were especially touching. Now, lets go take down UNLV. GMG
  20. I had for years talked about giving more money to build a stadium, if they would ever commit to building one. So when the pricing policy came out for club, I felt the donation for the club level seats fulfilled my commitment to increase funding a stadium. I have spent about 2 hours up there since the stadium opened, but I have sent a lot of people up there that have enjoyed the view, the games and the atmosphere. One of those friends now has a son that will attend UNT in the fall (with my son) and he is buying two seats up there also. GMG
  21. Don't know what it is now, but it was a commitment of $6000 (I think), paid out over five years if you wanted to. GMG
  22. We are up to 10 so far...got to get a set number. Anyone know what day seats will be "assigned?" And also, anyone know if the train will be running on New Years morning (assuming we are not under a sheet of ice like today)? GMG
  23. Wonder what impact Kirby had in helping interest Chris Miles in coming to NT? #localpipelinerocks
  24. We gave up as many seconds as the refs did, and neither should happen. It is a consistent coaching philosophy of this staff to give up seconds on the clock, whether at the end of the half or at the end of the quarter. We let time run off at the end of the third quarter when it seemed like we could have run a play. Really didn't appear to have a sense of urgency (or purpose) until late in the game GMG
  25. I predict UTSA will look to us as rivals (as we should be happy to see anyone at this point), and from what I have seen on this board this week, I predict this we will assume the role currently played by SMU fans in how they think of NT. Imagine NT playing the elitist snob! It may not be a true rivalry yet...I agree that a single game doesn't make it a rivalry. But if it becomes one, that is good for North Texas. They brought fans and a band, as many tickets as an opponent has purchased against us this year and maybe since Apogee. It is easy for our fans to get to their city. How we travel affects how we are perceived. The more games we can get our fans interested in attending, the better it is for our team, our school and our place in the hierarchy of college football. But, GMG
