Mean Green sweeps Marshall. Ashley Kirk, NT's all-time strikeout leader, had three wins, starting two of the games and finishing game 2. On the weekend, she threw 21 K's. As a few others have commented, the ladiess looked great on FSSW in HD and the coverage was excellent. In getting its third sweep in C-USA play, NT is now 27-15 on the season. GMG

Saw that story while sitting on the plane last night (in delay, like the girls were today). Enjoyed reading about Brooke, and noticed the RV comment also. Nice that Brooke was open to telling her story. Proud of our ladies, proud of the team, proud. I know nothing of these ladies outside of what I see on the field, and the little reveal some offer on Twitter. But seeing them close up in a lot of game circumstances, you somehow feel like you get a bit of their off-the-field persona. Beat Marshall. GMG

Got out for the first game. Decent crowd for 10 am on a Sat morn. Chilly, windy with rain on its way. I met Neal Smatresk. He was with his wife and I presume his son or daughter, spouse and his grand baby. Said it was first softball game at NT and he wanted to see two CUSA undefeated teams play. Sometime around the third inning, he turned around to the crowd, asked if Ashley's parents were in the crowd and complimented her Mom on how great of a pitcher Ashley is. Nice moment. Legitimate hit with two outs in the top of the 7th to give up the no-hitter, but great game. She struck out a whole bunch today. Had to leave, but pitching struggled in game two. May be a reflection of how good Ashley Kirk is. Game was rain delayed for about an hour, and we gave up 5 runs when the game started up again. GMG GMG

I got there shortly before you. It was a fun atmosphere...lines at the concession stand, kids playing football behind the stands, many, but respectful, Horn fans and a decent NT turnout. Great games from our #2 (Poole in relief in game one) and #3 pitchers. And we had a chances to win game 2 in the 6th and 7th....close loss. I think we our non-conference mixed confidence builders with some tough competition and set us up for conference. Glad we play Top 25 Tulsa to end the season. And the ladies beat Oklahoma State tonight, 4-3. Love this coach....WINNER. GMG

Coach Kee won her 700th today as NT completed the sweep over Middle. My mistake on the UT double header...they play Tuesday (and OK St on Wednesday, all at home). Planning to be there Tuesday! GMG

15-5. MUTS is pretty horrible this year, but #MGSB is playing really well. Great to see Lauren Poole pitch a strong game 2. Sweep tomorrow, then 2 against UT on Monday. GMG

Had to travel by bus to get to Houston after, I believe, their flight was delayed 7 hours (per Twitter). Were supposed to play a DH starting at 4. After being in the bus for 7 hours, they get to Houston shortly before 6, give up 1 in the first and shut UH down from there to win 6-1. 2nd game is cancelled based on weather. Hope they made it back in time for class this morning! Nice win against a pretty good UH team. GMG

Interested to see the ticket prices, but we have our hotel booked....Doubletree across I-35 from DKR (points). GMG

With its eighth win in a row, NT goes to 9-3 last night. Dani Hoff plates the only run of the game in the first inning against a good Texas State squad, and Ashley Kirk makes it hold up with a complete game 1-hitter. Second game against ACU (not as good of a team) was a blow out until late, but we pulled out a 12-8 "squeaker." GMG

Wow, AK gives up 5 in the first, then keeps it close until NT offense pulls it out. Three run walk off by Taylor Schoblocher! Dani Hoff's has found a groove at the plate, 3-3 for the second game this weekend, I believe. Ashley had a tough game one, then started rough in this one and pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the 6th. Coach stuck with her, and was rewarded. Gutsy AK! Well done, 5-3 softball chicks. Next up is a tough Texas State squad Thursday at 5 pm. Play ACU afterwards. GMG

I believe we have a couple of CUSA games televised...recall is later in the season, and I can't remember the station. Hope to meet you at a game sometime soon. GMG

Won today vs Wintrop...Kirk strikes out 13. We lost to this team yesterday. Finish the weekend 2-3. I won't be able to see the home opener (thank God Valentines Day isn't during football season) but the softball chicks (their preferred generic descriptor...I asked) play Friday and Saturday. GMG

Just got a few tidbits via twitter, but Mean Green softball loses again today to #23 Georgia, 7-4. NT gets ahead 3-0 but couldn't hold on. GMG

Spring is HERE! Great start. Think the JC transfer Strunk struck the game-tying homer in the seventh. Miller gets the game winner in the 8th. And per twitter,Bryanna Wade throws out two runners in the first inning to keep it scoreless, then gets a homer in the 8th. So proud of Ashley Kirk...gamer. Congrats to Coach Kee on your first NT win....lots to like! Beat #23 Georgia this afternoon!

Uncle Barky to the rescue...I emailed him this morning (in response to this thread's request) and got this from him: UNT-UNLV game averaged a not too bad 106,520 DFW viewers on ESPNU. Full story now posted on unclebarky.com if you want to look further. unclebarky.com, then click on the DFW link on the right. Decent numbers, especially if you factor in that ESPNU is on fewer TV's than the Deuce, and that ESPN is the default station most turn to for bowl/sports coverage. GMG
