  1. 4 post-game interviews! Kidsy did a great job with his interview. I am just so intrigued by Dajon's poise. Seems completely confident and controlled. Every player on Offense seemed to play inspired and seemed more confident around him. Excellent showcase for North Texas...showed the SMU highlights from Beyond the Green, featured Apogee, the Eagle under the scoreboard. Camera angles showed the crowd well...even, for the most part, in the second half when most on the student side left or moved to the shade. Commercials were reasonable in length...much shorter for us fans in the stadium to have to wait through. Will romance bloom for Mean Green Lady and Mean Green Man? I somehow missed MGL through the first three home games. Didn't know Brelan Chancellor was at the game. Kidsy gave him props and called BC his big brother from last year. Favorite McNulty play: watching him calmly scoop up the snap that sailed over his head and throw the ball out of bounds. About as much poise as we have seen from any QB not named Dajon this year. Before Dajon, either Nicholls first or second string QB would start for NT. 2nd string Hebert was the better of the two. Didn't know that Beau Hebert was Bobby's son. Amazing how big Nicholls OL was, and how slow. Can't believe NT time of possession was under 20 minutes. Loved seeing Tillman make the effort to get off the field on his own. Clearly a CUSA broadcast, but announcers Thulin and Moreland were energetic, even in a blow out. Really did a nice job of spotlighting the University and the Conference. If I heard it right, they used a NT student announcer on the sidelines. Kid did OK. Cure for Corbin kids were great...very enthusiastic. Was nice to see them on the field for the coin toss (NSU players shook their hands also...well done). They also showed the boys in the locker room for Coach's pre-game talk and interviewed them on the sidelines with their families. Harry alluded to this in another thread, but I am amazed at how many players got in the game. The participation report may require two volumes. And a little perspective about playing SMU and Nicholls: Spoke with a lady at a church we were doing some volunteer work for in South Dallas. She saw my Parents Weekend shirt and said..."I saw North Texas last night on TV and I love your uniforms. That is a bright green!" A Baylor friend at church asked if we had hired Briles away from Baylor. "First SMU, then last night." He had no idea we had lost to LaTech. We beat a team by 74 points. In the Metroplex, if you beat SMU, people notice. When you win by 74, whoever you play, people notice. GMG
  2. This inspires. The Fanning and Hope families are welcome at our tailgate any time! Praying for a cure. Quick. GMG
  3. Sorry risinggreen...tickets are spoken for. PM me if you can use a couple of tickets....I may have a couple left. GMG
  4. 4 tickets in the NE endzone, section 110. Includes a Blue Lot parking pass. No charge...just use them! PM me with your cell and we will get you set up. GMG
  5. Around the 2:42 mark, does Greer look like he is reacting to a head shot after his score? Seemed like after lineman one comes up to celebrate (with a hand to the helmet), the second and third lineman came up, almost protective, and just spoke to him. Was it the next series that DW got into the game? GMG
  6. Hope. If Change. GMG
  7. Keep an eye on their right hands when they are at parade rest....they may drop winter rye seed on the field to spell SMU in our artificial turf. TCU gives its opinion of the SMU-TCU "rivalry" at the time of the referenced incident. http://www.skiff.tcu.edu/SkiffWeb021600/Opinion.html GMG
  8. Still haven't been scored upon, correct? GMG #DefenseU
  9. Amazing they left him in to the end of the game. And next week, they will not be the same offense without Ash AND their best offensive lineman. GMG
  10. UT wasn't as good of a team as they have been in recent years? They have the players. Always will. Now they have a coach. He is going to have ups and downs but the Strong hire was a great one for Texsa. We played a very bad game offensively. Leadership appeared lacking last night. After Georgia and Kansas State the last couple of years, I expected us to hang with Texas. The defense did. I am looking forward to seeing the adjustments the offense makes this week. #beatSMU #bethere GMG
  11. Why is it that the posts I want to +1 the most are Admins/Hosts that don't have that capability. When everyone else claims to LOL or spit their diet Coke onto the computer screen, well...I never. Today, I LOL'd. Really. Well done, Tasty. #bEATtEXSA GMG
  12. If you are on Chat, and not at the game, you are a Loser. I, of course, expect to be in the Chat. #bEATtEXSA GMG
  13. Don't know either of you boys, but this was an enjoyable listen. Best line, and I am paraphrasing: Tell these guys (the team) that, as the winds of big bucks accelerate the metamorphosis of college athletics from amateur to professional, this Saturday may be the last chance for North Texas to face Texas. YOU may be the last team that plays Texas. This is your opportunity. Beat Texsa. Defense: Keep the ball in front of you. Offense: Dig to your deepest. Find white lines again and again, then points. Team: Push a little bit harder than you think you are capable. Find the limits of your strength, speed, focus, passion, grit and want. Want it more. No mistakes....and when you make one, learn and get better. Execute. Finish. GMG GMG
  14. CBS, during its PGA golf coverage, spends a segment on the other tour events happening each week and showed Carlos leading today....showed him hit one to about 6 feet, then make the putt. Think he was at 13 under today, up by one stroke. GMG
  15. That "Stanford of C-USA" moniker is providing prompt and sustainable returns. GMG
  16. I never miss a GrayEagle post, and he is truly one of my favorite NT fans. Many years more, Mr. Fincher. GMG
  17. Harry, your podcast joined Mark Levin, Larry Kudlow, Gilbert Gottfried and This American Life on my list of podcast subscriptions....really appreciate the work you and Evan do. GMG
  18. Yeah, I loved those days when we weren't the smallest, slowest FBS teams in America....you know, the teams that finished 2-9, 3-9. 2-10, 1-11, 2-10, 3-9 (I think). Those fast, big dudes....good old days. I will live in the present, take these players, these coaches. As for this particular head coach: this guy cares as much about my team as any coach I have gotten to see at NT (I missed the Fry years, and before). It is as much his team as it is mine. Before him, coaches borrowed my team and usually borrowers return it in worse shape than when they took it. I willingly share this team with this coach, and he shares it with me. And it comes back to me better than before. Sucks, huh? And by the way, back in those days, I supported the hell out of those players AND those coaches too, even those coaches I didn't think so much of. Flame away but, GMG
  19. SE, I have heard that Roy Metzler is setting up a bus. Brian Anderson may be able to help (can't remember his board name here). GMG
  20. Good to see Dennis Miller has joined the board. GMG
  21. Headline in the actual fish wrap is: Mean Green ready for takeoff GMG
  22. First class service and product, Jim. Well done, amigo. GMG
  23. To you merchandising gurus, do you have to license the North Texas official font, i.e. Beat Texsa in the North Texas font? GMG
  24. Hoping to make it. GMG On behalf of North Texas Athletics, our coaches, and the student athletes that represent your Mean Green, we would like to thank you for your commitment and financial support. Your contributions allow us to provide scholarship aid, state of the art facilities, and the academic support for our North Texas student athletes to excel in the class room and compete athletically at the national level. On Wednesday, July 30, we will recognize our dedicated volunteers and acknowledge all those that proudly support our student-athletes through their contributions and Mean Green Club membership. As the new Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development and Executive Director of the Mean Green Club, I look forward to meeting you, and hope you will join us Wednesday evening at Apogee Stadium as we acknowledge your contributions and kick off another exciting season of Mean Green sports. A number of our coaches, including Coach McCarney, will be there to discuss the upcoming season, along with two of our talented student-athletes, Cyril Lemon (Football) and Hanna Forst (Volleyball). If you are unable to join us on July 30 for our Mean Green appreciation night, I encourage you to stop by our office and visit the next time you are on campus. Thank you again for your financial support of Mean Green Athletics and the University of North Texas. I look forward to meeting you and personally thanking you for your support. Best wishes and Go Mean Green! John Nitardy Senior Associate Athletic Director, Executive Director of Mean Green Club
