  1. Me and the family (+4). We will be at the Alumni event. As I am hopelessly socially awkward, it would be nice to put name to face at the Westin. GMG
  2. Why can't I +1 a Harry post, or even a hairy post (tribute to Rudy's uncomfortable post earlier this week)? GMG
  3. MGH, normally I would agree with you but it didn't change that much. The always predictable late-arriving crowd never showed up. Very awkward scene to walk in to Apogee and see this large group sitting on the south end of the alumni side, seemingly segregated like Flounder and Pinto being relegated to the geek couch with Jugdish, Mohammet and Lonny at the Omega mixer. It was the visiting prospects and families. On the other hand, those who were there still sound relatively loud especially considering the pedestrian offense we throw out there. Much noise for the defense that played inspired all evening. And when the rain came, that memorable Tripper Harrison motivation speech broke out...."it just doesn't matter!" Great defensive win! GMG
  4. You guys did a great job, Jason. Great event for the University and for future Mean Green students. GMG
  5. Did you count the top 5 rows under the Club? Looked full from my end zone seats. GMG
  6. Seats under the overhang were great during the aforementioned Dunbar finale. Anyone know what those seats cost for a full season? We will make tailgating a game time decision, but the Alumni Pavilion sounds like a plan. Attending the game? No is not an option. GMG
  7. My mistake and apology. I read it as noon...and missed the EST. 11:00 am it is. GMG
  8. Thought that was a nice moment for the show....and it sounded like DM was on the verge when George passed it to Coach. The picture the DRC used of Coach Nelson on the shoulders of his players is somewhat iconic for NT fans of the era: A shot of a winning coach basking in the glory of a conference championship with his players, on our field in front of what appears to be a full section of fans celebrating with him. Reminds me of January 1, 2014. GMG
  9. Yes, winning is fun to watch, especially against the right teams. Corky had an overall losing record but had a couple of 2-9 seasons early that skewed the overall record. GMG
  10. I have fond memories of Corky. Gave me some of my favorite memories of NT football while he was here. Specifically going 3-0* vs the SWC in 1988. Prayers to the Nelson family. GMG
  11. Carlos Ortiz! His fourth official PGA tournament, his best finish (T9), almost $240,000 in cash earnings for the PGA season. Hasn't missed a cut yet. The guy is six feet tall and weighs 150 pounds. GMG
  12. Don't know if this is official, but per Fox Sports the game starts at noon. http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/schedule?season=2014&seasonType=1&week=14&group=14 GMG
  13. That, and SMU lost tonight. Barely, but by just enough. GMG
  14. (now that I have my rant out of the way on another thread) Affordable tickets brought me to North Texas! And the tons of leg room in my section. And the kettle corn. There are at least 60 teams in CFB that can't check off even one of those things! In the words of the immortal Zack Mayo: "I got nowhere else to go." GMG
  15. Stream of consciousness while recovering from an evening of Mexican food and drink: I attend NT games. I pull for my school. I will clap for the players on Saturday. Some will be Seniors and play their last game of football (unless they join us for a GMG.com flag football game a few years down the road). I won't doubt their effort. I won't doubt their coaches effort. I will likely question the latter's competence...but what do I know. I will ask the question: TV announcers just said the coaches call Jeffrey Wilson a difference maker. Why wait to put the difference makers into a game when it is too late to make a difference? I will expect my team to play better at home than they do on the road. By inference, I guess the coaches will coach better at home than they do on the road. Neither I nor the team and the coaches will be able to explain why. I will pray the team will not wear the uniforms worn during the Indiana and UTEP games...ever. I expect I will never see Dajon Williams play at NT again. Whether that is good or not, I will never know. I will continue to manage my expectations: #Hit4 is a good year. Anything better: call the Pope and seek miracle status. I will expect to win by 21 or more or lose by at least 10. I will likely wager on UTEP to win its bowl game. I will wonder why QB turnovers will only be allowed if they are done so within "the system." I will watch my team play late into the night, where every break in play the announcer will say something like...."as soon as we can possibly get this game over with, we will turn you over to the highlights of football that matters, that you have watched for the last 12 hours, if in fact you didn't watch them as they happened." If my coach will insist on not playing a QB, I will pray we run the ball every down....football's version of four corners...run the ball, run the clock...for three plays. Then punt. Repeat the same after the opponent has the ball for four plays and scores. I will trust my coaches (and their bosses) as I do my politicians. I won't. And after the game on Saturday, I will go to San Antonio and repeat the above. I will quit hitting myself in the head with the hammer only after I believe it will feel better to stop than it does to continue. GMG
  16. I understand the weather is nice. And I heard we didn't call any other fathers this week and tell them we don't need their kid. GMG
  17. Humbly serving the 53%, I presume. GMG
  18. Family of 4. Waiting to see game time before I think about tickets for no reason at all. GMG
  19. Jackie tweeted she got 10 stitches and a fracture (nose I believe0. Heckuva season, ladies. First CUSA conference championship team will be remembered. GMG
  20. Jackie Kerestine gets her 14th shut out of the year (out of 16 wins). This was her 7th shutout in a row against conference teams. Hat tip: @MeanGreenSoccer #DefenseU GMG
  21. Along with a 98 yard kickoff return last night. GMG
  22. If I have my numbers right, the team has 15 wins on the year and 13 have been shutouts. #DefenseU GMG
  23. Recruiting tidbit = someone we were pursuing committed elsewhere. GMG
  24. ...is better than an off week. GMG
  25. I can think of lot more interesting notes from the Coach Mac Radio Show tonight. #QBrelated
