  1. Side 1 of Led Zeppelin IV, right? GMG
  2. I am proud to be associated with good humans like Mark. I appreciate your loyalty to, and hard work for, the University of North Texas. You are a special guy. (thanks Harry for the pictorial dedication to Mark Miller) GMG
  3. @@Harry, I lost all my podcast subscriptions. I rebuilding, I could not find your podcast through iTunes. Is it still available there? GMG
  4. Want to complement you guys for some entertaining, interesting Mean Green talk. I subscribe to the podcast, listen to you on the plane or on a jog. A good mix of reality, cynicism, optimism and hope, with instructive analysis and a few solutions tossed in sans vitriol or misspent jabs. Hope to meet you guys at your pre-game podcasts. GMG
  5. I wore my jersey to a similar event a few years back....was the only college jersey in a sea (ok, there were 30 of us) of NFL swag out in San Jose. GMG
  6. I have one also (#1 Oubre) but I am 5'10, 163 and it fits me snug (would stretch to allow pads). I am in FM...let me know if you want to give it a go. But Peacock provides options! GMG
  7. The patience strategy. Breathe deep. The things I notice about the kid is that the plays last a long time and 10 players want to block for a kid like that....over the entire length of the field. GMG
  8. Brother at Argyle is a sophomore and is apparently a pretty good player also. GMG
  9. Ranked 114 in Florida, a 5.6 on Rivals, with offers from UF, KY, MSt, UCF and Louisville? Yessir, may I have another? 10. And if I understand correctly, the fees are just rolled into student loans for many of these kids. Those loans are a burden to the ability of future alums earning potential....and my optimism for the future job opportunities for this generation is waning. Many of these government backed loans will go into default, so ultimately you and I will pay the increase in fees anyway. GMG
  11. T-shirts with that logo? I am in. GMG
  12. Thanks to everyone for helping me connect with the now-famous Dan! Leave Conversations is new Black (delete button)....who knew? Good community here. GMG
  13. Instantly my second favorite team. GMG
  14. Thanks UNT 90 Grad.
  15. If anyone knows how to get in touch with Dan, please have him contact me at untcampbell@gmail.com. Believe his gmg.com handle is curtisdaa. (I can't figure how to delete messages from my Messages center and it is over full) Thanks, and GMG
  16. No mention of the ladies trashing the uniforms? GMG
  17. Interesting comps, FG. Media-dominant pro teams within 30 miles: NT (Cowboys), TS (Longhorns) GMG
  18. My memory is that she hit well for average, but sustaining the incredible early-season HR pace would have been difficult in whatever environment she found herself. Going from .270 (and, I think .261 in her Fresh(wo)man year) to .390 over an entire season is a huge move. For the record, I have no stake in this other than I am a fan of the program and want what is best for the team. With very little knowledge of the internal workings of the program, anything else on my part would be speculation and message board banter. That Taylor did what she did last year amidst what she deems toxic, and I have no reason to distrust her, is pretty impressive. GMG
  19. It seems ironic to me that Taylor had, by far, her best season in that toxic environment. She hit .390 last year, about .120 more than the year before. Her play in the field was solid. She clearly excelled in adversity. She will be missed for her play on the field, but I admire her for completing her education here at NT and wish her the best after graduation. GMG
  20. With the preface that softball is my favorite NT sport outside of football, I am not interested in the politics of how this roster turned over. I am impressed that the athletes that left, for whatever reason, did so without a great deal of drama. Best wishes to some ladies I enjoyed watching play for my school. I hope that they complete their education here or elsewhere. We have added 11 new players to the roster. By my count, we have FOUR players returning. I greatly admire the fab four, the Schkade sisters, Wade and Williams, for their commitment and leadership. Very proud of you ladies. It appears Coach Kee busted butt to fill out next year's team. The headlines on these ladies indicate we have a great group coming on. One real positive that reflects well on the future: at least 5 of this team attended Freshman orientation, captured in a segment on MeanGreenSports.com. Link to the new roster: http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/ntex-w-softbl-mtt.html I am looking forward to seeing how Coach and her staff shape this team from here. Now where do I get some of the cool Mean Green softball shirts I keep seeing?! GMG
  21. SSJ defined the rivalry concept well but I would add that the university communities, i.e. students, faculty, administration, alumni, of BOTH schools have to care for it to be a rivalry. Something magical has to happen at a game, a 7-OT shootout or a player coming off the sidelines to tackle an unopposed runner, that gets national headlines. Incidents, usually occurring late at night and would involve cops if known about as they happen, have to transpire. Since we have never painted Peruna (sp?) green and they haven't stolen the Model A, SMU doesn't count. UTSA makes the most sense. Since they are relatively new opponents, perhaps we, the university communities of both schools, can build a rivalry as it should be, in attention-grabbing, back-and-forth fashion over the years. That said, I chose SMU based simply on my internal desire to destroy that school on the football field. Join me? GMG
  22. I think you nailed it. Did they also have a legendary collegiate HOF coach make a swing through their athletic department for a few years, achieve Top 20 status a couple of years, beat a major SEC team back in the 70's with a late kickoff return and change their name to the University of San Jose a few decades back just to be called San Jose State in every major media mention since? GMG
  23. G5 schools should get together and set a minimum price (probably some legal way to get around the price fixing element) that these schools will take to play a P5. And it should be a lot of money. I suppose this would just cause the P5 schools to change the rules to play (even) lower tier schools and bypass the G5's but fundamentally, playing 12 games against P5 level competition will ensure very few will make it to the playoffs physically unscathed and undefeated. If they want weeks off, they need to pay richly for them. G5's let them off the hook when playing P5's at anything less than a couple of million bucks. I say $3 million should be the starting price based on the gap SEC teams get from the playoff pool vs what the SBC gets. GMG
  24. NT night was probably the last one, as I believe TTU had its night already and I know TCU had its night. My guess is OSU had the highest sales, as the Ranger rep mentioned they were out of hats about 30 minutes after the gates opened and encouraged us to get there early. GMG
