  1. Not getting Thor's business would bankrupt many a bar. GMG
  2. Tickets from the UNT ticket office are GA ($45) and are likely in the South end zone (I think that is the South end). That is where they put us last time we played them. Full disclosure: Army is selling some upper deck seats on the home side of the field for $40. I just decided it was a good to buy from our AD and that it would be fun to sit with our fans. GMG
  3. We booked it this morning, round trip. We are staying in TriBeCa. Look forward to meeting everyone. I will be the red-headed, gap-toothed, Opie Taylor in his mid-50's (but with hair) look alike, with my son, a Junior at NT. We will be the guys wearing green. GMG
  4. https://seastreak.com/tour-and-event-cruises/west-point-football-game-day-cruise/ I think this has been mentioned on the board before, but is anyone else taking the ferry to West Point? My son and I are thinking this may be the best way to go....would be nice to have a few other green shirts on board. GMG
  5. Humble. Small town innocence. But tough. This guy comes from a different place. This kid could be a really nice story for North Texas for years to come....true face of the program kind of stuff. Would be hard not to pull for a guy like Mason Fine, regardless of what team you pull for. GMG
  6. Has there been any analysis of game-missing injuries in games pitting mismatched teams vs games with evenly matched teams? My gestalt is that "better" team players, on average, experience at least as many injuries as "lesser" team players, and that as many injuries occur in games with teams fairly evenly matched. This is not to say that these games aren't tough, physically and mentally, on our boys. But I found interesting the comments from the father of one of our former players, that these games are motivators and affect their decision to attend NT. That said, one "body bag" game a year is enough. From my perspective, the goal should be to find the worst teams we can get the most money from in playing them (can we get $1 million in playing Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Kansas State, Arizona, etc). Then play a G5 team with whom we can compete and could go either way in any given year (Colorado State, New Mexico, for example) and then play any team, from the highest division team that a win is reasonably assured (maybe that is Kansas, maybe that is Bethune Cookman). As we build a program from scratch, we want to come out of non-conference healthy, with a win or two and a competitive mindset that readies us for conference play. And every game, one week better. GMG
  7. I am conflicted...after watching the Mason and Jason doc this morning and reading about Willie this evening, who do I declare my favorite NT player? So many good stories on this team. I like my coach, my team. GMG
  8. NTD: when you print the retraction/correction, I suggest you write an article that gets the nickname story told and reprint it at the start of each semester. GMG
  9. They mowed the east side of the Red/Blue lot to expand the tailgating area on that side. GMG
  10. Early in the B-C game, I looked down from my vaunted perch on the top row, 15 in Section 110, to the rail and was mesmerized by a group of shirtless young men (keep it clean fellas), many with green hair and green body paint. They were among about 20 fans, most in green, some with Locust Grove Pirate stadium chairs. I spoke to one of the kids (who wisely chose to remain shirted) and he stated the obvious: his crew was from Locust Grove, all were here to see Mason Fine play football. Not sure if some of this was family...I suspect not sitting amongst the peasants in the slums of Section 110. That group of 20 drove about 4.5 hours, were loud and proud Mean Green converts. And that line of kids? Never sat down, even when Fine came out of the game. In the rare moments that I wasn't already smiling last Saturday evening, this group of new fans made me smile. GMG
  11. Lance Dunbar on now on the post 10 pm sports Cowboys show. Looks much more composed on camera. Confident, and just a great reflection on the University. Great to see him back and get a shot late in the game to help the team. Will always be one of my favorite North Texas players. One catch for 16 yards and he gets a 5+ minute interview with Sham and Babe. I'll give Dandy Killeen some props for that. GMG
  12. Nice read. Telling. Managing expectations, but it appears Mason is a special player. It will be fun to see how his story plays out. GMG
  13. Weather Underground: no rain, 82 degrees at kickoff. No excuses. GMG
  14. You guys are the Musers of the podcast. Nicely paced, back and forth repartee with a don't-take-it-too-damn-seriously presentation, with some added depth to the analysis. I like it. GMG
  15. Lots of energy with these guys. They answer emails, respond to tweets and get out with the people. They want to know what you think. And act. GMG
  16. Good podcast this week, fellas. Appreciate your work. Agree....brother Campbell is a value added. GMG
  17. If you place any value on Sagarin's, my quick glance says we would be 6 point favorites on a neutral site, so 9 point favorites at home. GMG
  18. The shot of Smith's catch from the end zone made Apogee look as full as I can remember seeing it, other than UH opening day. See you Saturday. GMG
  19. All of this talk about Tony's balls reminds me of one of my favorite restaurants. Whenever I am in SoCal, I go to Ted's of Beverly Hills for steaks. Slogan: "We want to put our meat in your mouth." https://www.facebook.com/tedssteakhouse/ So if Tony will allow, I would like to put his balls in my mouth. What time will he have his balls out? GMG
  20. I notice 5-8 rows in front of my seats in Section 110 are still available. Once fans realize there will be yelling in the seats above them, they usually move. GMG
  21. Could be, maybe even likely. But I invited a bunch of friends to go to SMU last year. 5 of us made the trek, via East Side thanks to Mr. Williams. This year, I invited the same group and we have 17 coming this weekend, with 1-2 still considering. Hopefully this anecdote will be duplicated throughout ApogeeLand in anticipation of a new coach, new AD, new season and, in fact, damn near a new football team. GMG
  22. North Texas chose to self reject. GMG
  23. A fellow Campbell sends praises and congrats. Slàinte! GMG
  24. Just got to last week's podcast....thanks for addressing the question and thanks for giving us another source of MGN insights, boys. GMG
  25. Full disclosure: Stolen from the Ticket. A Mike Rhyner line, I believe. GMG
