DRC: Where does UNT go from here for late additions

So are we sure that we have one more scholarship to give from the 2017 signing class? GMG -
CUSA and Sunbelt Merger About to Happen Folks
untcampbell replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
The younger amongst us are asking what is a Sunday paper? While I get the argument, times have changed a bit. I turn to the internet for my scores....the same concept that brings us low def "live when not buffering" images of our CUSA games. The late night games on Saturday night are a gas. If North Texas was on late night six times a year, it wouldn't bother me a bit. Now, paying for all of our teams to play in Hawaii or any of the MWC states? Expensive. GMG -
Potential Transfers on Campus this week
untcampbell replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Kelley is graduating in 3 years and is the rare grad transfer with two years of eligibility. His high school team won state championship all four years and his high school coach is one of his best friends. Wes Lunt (OK State, Illinois) was QB his first and second years and the QB ahead of him his junior year plays at Eastern Illinois. Robbie was QB his senior year and played wide receiver on varsity, QB on Freshman and JV teams. In a spread offense, he played all four quarters two games (big leads after half, etc) of a 14-0 season, throwing for 2,919 yards on 200-for-311 passing with 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions. At Quincy, he was all academic team in his conference all three years he was there. Kelley earned second-team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors last fall in his first season as a starter at QU thanks to a record-breaking performance. He completed 58 percent of his passes for 2,701 yards and 23 touchdowns with just seven interceptions. Visiting Butler next week. Interest coming in from others, after news broke he is transferring to pursue an MBA. http://www.whig.com/20170324/qus-kelley-to-transfer-to-pursue-mba# 6'1.5, 217. Strong arm. Big character guy. NT softball moves to 11-9 on the season, taking two from Wichita State and splitting with Texas Tech at the Texas Tech Invitational last weekend. Ladies scored a lot of runs last weekend and notice followed. Lindsay Gregory (Fr) earned C-USA co-player of the week and Stacey Underwood (Sr) took pitcher of the week. Conference play starts this weekend, as NT hosts UTEP. GMG

MGB breaking news -- regents approve new venue

That land is also known as the venue where one of my favorite gomeangreen.com bowl games was played. GMG -
Not sure that Butler QB is working out so well. Butler is pushing hard for a friend's son right now. GMG

NT softball finishes the Getterman Classic (Baylor) with 3 wins and 2 losses. They beat Lamar twice, lost to Grand Canyon University twice and finished with a 3-2 win over #23 Baylor this morning. Not sure how good Grand Canyon is but they are 10-1 on the season, with its only blemish a 1-0 loss to Baylor yesterday. NT has beaten Baylor in Waco four times over the last three years. My recall is Baylor was ranked in each of the four losses. On the season, NT is 4-5. GMG

DRC source: Former Guyer, ASU WR has interest in UNT
untcampbell replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I believe a grad student is considered full time at 6 hours. Does a grad student scholarship have the same "value" in counting total scholarships as an undergrad "12-15 hour" scholarship? Assume yes, but the cost to the school varies. GMG -
Round 2 of Facilities Improvement Started
untcampbell replied to BTG_Fan1's topic in Mean Green Football
I am not usually the pile on guy, but you drew me in with this: "And The Super Pit is used all year round. It's not like it sits empty and abandoned outside of basketball season." In fact, it only sits empty and abandoned DURING basketball season. #players(andfans)deservebetter GMG -
Love that store...and now, I am going to keep my eye out for Coach Littrell! GMG

'17 Evan Johnson RB (Loranger, LA) [LOI: NT]
untcampbell replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
The small-town press is alive and well. Nice write up on Mr. Johnson. Welcome. http://www.hammondstar.com/sports/reports/johnson-signs-nli-to-join-north-texas/article_2b28d3b4-4d21-5aef-a6b6-3aa89d39b651.html GMG -
I will be the 2nd confirmation. He mentioned another OL they are working on, but that he understandably couldn't say much more than that. The impression I got from his comment was he wouldn't have brought it up if he didn't think it was going to happen. GMG

Had a big game against Sherman, among others....perhaps our NT letterman coaches there would give us a heads up about Mr. Lyday. GMG

'17 ATH Tre'von Bradley (Cleburne) [LOI: UH]
untcampbell replied to UNT90's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
BillySee, this would be great advice for recruits and their parents, and I hope their high school coaches provide it. Probably a good proactive discussion for recruiting coaches to have with that family as well, when they make that first commitment. As much time as the recruit has to get other offers, it is on the coaching staff and school to solidify a relationship with the student and family that validates the first decision. Makes any decision to de-commit for another offer a little more difficult. GMG -
I watch these games when I see guys wearing my helmet playing in it. I feel the same way as dmaxel. I got to watch a little more than a quarter yesterday and saw Eric punt once. I wish I could have seen more of the game, especially the play featured in the photo above. Still, it feels kind of funny to be looking for a replay of an all star game! GMG

'17 DB Jordan Roberts (Oklahoma) [Verbal: NT]
untcampbell replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Best as I can gather, Jordan is a top 40 in Oklahoma, listed among 15 players on the others to watch from the preseason OK Top 25 list. Ardmore finished 10-3 his senior year, and MaxPreps lists Ardmore as the 17th best team in the state (unsure if that is classification specific). He played in 9 games his senior year, rushing 46 times for 740 yards (16.1 avg) and 9 touchdowns. He also grabbed a couple of catches and returned his only INT for a touchdown. Jordan suffered a serious head injury in his junior year. The game stopped for an hour to stabilize him for a helicopter flight to OKC. He apparently recovered nicely with no ill affects. Not sure why he missed 4 games in his senior year. Hopefully he will bring a Mason Fine-sized entourage from Ardmore! GMG -
And to @MeanGreenFB for getting the stats up. Keena punted 8 times, 315 yards, 39.4 average. Hit his longest for 52 yards and had 4 punts inside the 20. #NFL GMG

Actor Gary Busey asked me to forward this link out of respect for the player, Rico Bussey, Jr. http://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4049750/rico-bussey-jr (I apologize for any of my past or future posts with misspellings, mistaken information or grammatical errors. Happens to us all.) As for the title of this thread: The statement in itself coming from FFR, a guy that remembers every play, player and coach since the first game he saw, gives me great optimism.
