The mosquito that is this thread keeps buzzing my ear, implicating it as the male of the species, and won't go away. My bet, my hope is that the coaches and players are focused on what can potentially happen Saturday. GMG

CBS 11 Live in Denton with Coach Littrell
untcampbell replied to ScrappyD's topic in Mean Green Football
I think that was the Army broadcast they were playing side by side to the interview that showed the record. Dandy Killeen, I am confident, produced that interview and gets it right. GMG -
Any Canadian Mean Green Fans out there?
untcampbell replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
I used IPVanish VPN while I was in Australia. Of course, the game I watched was against FAU so I'm not sure I trust it. Seriously, they allow you to pay monthly and it worked great. You know this it sounds like, but the VPN shows your home location so when you log in to your direct tv, espn, spectrum, etc account, your provider thinks the computer is in the US. About $8.00 if I recall, per month. Recommend you not go with the freebie VPN's out there. GMG -
Guys around me said it was a cramp. He finished the game on the field. GMG

That's the play! How can I forget it was MTSU, the alma mater of my neighbor and favorite tailgating buddy at the time? And the joyous laughing welp of the fan who shot that video adds color to that clip. Thanks UNT Lifer. GMG

A couple of other high points: the video in this is awesome. There are times I am thinking I am going to hear the voice of John Facenda, the quality is so well produced. Though hearing Dave Barnett go hoarse on the Bussey tight walk to the end zone is pretty, pretty good. And I think Fine getting up and pumping his fist after being on the ground for a couple of minutes is one of my favorite moments in all the years I have been watching NT play ball (circa 1980). Right up there with the Booger sack and fumble recovery where he rolls the guy and comes up with the ball in one continuous motion, against Baylor if memory serves. Looked for video of that play and couldn't find it to share. FFR has it in his archive, I am confident. GMG

THAT....is football pants happiness. Love his poise, love his grit, love he is a QB savant, love his arm, love the number of passes that hit his receivers in stride, love his receivers. Football hero that appears to translate off the field. GMG

Nice insight NT95. Michael Lawrence is a spark when the offense needs it, is dependable and precise and has great chemistry with Fine. And from all accounts, a great teammate and good guy. Been watching him closely since meeting his family on the way to the ARMY game last year. I hear a bunch of Sweetwater folks are showing up for this weekend's game. GMG

Only at UNT do we need to make this dysfunction glorified in our athletic dept. Mo, love you man. But EVERY athletic department has similar dysfunction, and every department glorifies it. You just see the sausage being made here because you are closer to it. The ingredients in NT's best sausage are ego, personality, testosterone and money (and the lack of it), mixed in with a little North Texas inferiority complex that spices things up a bit (you don't likely get that ingredient at Alabama, for example). I am sure others will know more of the recipe's ingredients than I, but that gets us started. GMG

Homecoming game attendance Prediction?

Homecoming game attendance Prediction?
untcampbell replied to trud1966's topic in Mean Green Football
-1. This will be the fourth home game I have missed in the past 21 seasons. All four have been an annual convention of eye doctors that alternates its meetings between a weekend in November and a weekend in October. GMG -
"they have a large alumni base, a large student body and the best band in the southern hemisphere.....what the hell is the matter with those people ? Why don't they come to games?" I can't recall too many marching bands in the southern hemisphere, so he may be right. That said, North Texas has a pretty good marketing program. I would like to see us pursue the answers to the two questions, along with a third: "What would you like to see that would get you to come see a game?" And maybe another: "If you don't provide financial support to your school, regardless of department, why not?" Ask as many people as will answer. My guess is it has something to do with the historical commitment the University gives to athletics, or "UNT was where I got my degree after transferring from the program I follow (grades, money ran out, life happened, etc)." But there are probably 200,000 other reasons. GMG

Throw in some men's soccer during those days, Jim? But I agree....this is a phenomenal Fall to be a fan of the Mean Green. Wish more would soak it in and enjoy this thing I understand is called winning. GMG

Didn't Fry have a 10-1 season (1977?)....this was before my time as a fan but I think so. It may have been aided/achieved by a forfeit. GMG

Actually enjoyed the coverage. PBP guy was good. Analyst better than we usually get. Camera angles were decent. After the broadcast went off the air, the mike was still up and the analyst couldn't remember Roderick Young's name but was trying to say he was impressed. It was a monster game for the NT. GMG

Will be interesting to see how Homecoming is attended. I think some folks choose a couple of games a year to attend. When looking at the schedule, ODU becomes a lower priority and Homecoming usually brings more people to that game, regardless of opponent. String together a win or two and some decent weather along the way and ARMY should also be well attended. With all of the options already discussed, some fans chose last Saturday as their BYE week. No offense (emphasis on the second syllable, I believe), no reason to panic. GMG

To build on FFR's point, we have won 5 games. I have been to six games this year and have seen all five wins. By my recall, there were real moments of doubt, concern, cussing, etc in 4 of the 5 wins. On the other hand, we might have lost 3 or 4 of those wins in our not to distant past. That we are not yet playing our best game and finding ways to win is reason enough to be optimistic. That we likely have five, maybe six, games (not to be presumptuous) to further build a better program keeps me smiling. And that there are so many men on this team I feel I know better through social media and BTG solidifies my commitment to this team. FIVE and 3. GMG

Me as well. Hoping to round up a few to join us as well....and hoping to get a couple of seats in 110! GMG
