  1. That play was worth a lot of money to the university, indeed. The associated publicity is why the school, you and I invest in athletics. GMG
  2. Jungle karma. GMG
  3. I tweeted “To the victors go the spoils.” Spoils seen in bottom right of the picture. GMG
  4. What other games? GMG
  5. What a great representative of the University Seth Littrell is. He has grown as a head coach and leader in his three years here, and is legitimately good from the podium and gives a good interview now. What a great time it is to be a fan of the Mean Green. GMG
  6. Took me this long to get alone time to listen to last weeks! Thanks boys. Good work. GMG
  7. And in Denton? GMG
  8. Jim, I don't know that story. Can you give us a primer? Were the Hog fans as frustrated and contrite as UT fan was in 1988? GMG
  9. The big toe, or Achilles heel, of the Mean Green Nation did not represent. We had 20 for the week 1 tailgate, 3 for this one (a fourth and fifth made it to the game, but missed the tailgate). About a third of our "regulars" did not attend NT. Not a complaint, but an observation: our fan base, though growing, still struggles with home games two weeks in a row. Early in the season, we get a great turnout for a hated "rival" with some perceived (but way in the past) CFB gravitas. We get a weak turnout for a program with little CFB history, none against North Texas, on a day it rained up until game time. Our tailgate representation was representative of that mindset. I did comment that the tailgaters were more numerous than expected while it was still raining, so we are growing that baseline, IMHO. I appreciate the Copeland family for bringing 60. Question: what would attendance have been for the two games, same weather for each, but had the UIW game been the opener? My guess: 23,722 for the opener, 24,018 for the $SMU game. GMG
  10. Welcome, 91! Always appreciate Letterman perspective. Please post when you can. GMG
  11. I am having trouble explaining this so it sounds meaningful but I commented to my friends in Section 110 in the 1Q that there was a literal buzz of idle chatter, i.e. noise at times there wasn't a play going on, that made the base level of fan interaction louder than anything I can remember at Apogee or Fouts. It was palpable: the fans were into the game in a way that made me feel like the stadium is giving us every bit of our money's worth. North Texas now has a true home field advantage that we never had at Fouts, AKA the library. GMG
  12. Thinking that Saturday Pony Down helped recruiting a bit. GMG Anyone able to dub in Pony here?
  13. WHEN we expand, I would love to see us build a East stands second deck (think that is in the plan) over the student section , as close to the field as possible. Provides shade to the lower level and helps hold the noise in. GMG
  14. Why is it that EVERY time that play or The Drive series is posted on here, I stop down and watch it as if I have never seen it before, and with almost the same joy at the end. My boss is pissed right now. One other thing: I can't believe how good our team was in getting to the line, setting up and getting the next play off in The Drive. The entire offense should have gotten the game ball that day, for The Drive. GMG
  15. It was a good night, Kingwood. Would that friend be Dr. Houdek? Rubber Gloves, I think you meant. I just moved back to Denton also and the good doctor told me his best friend grew up in the house we bought. From greenjoe, by the way. This game was a blast. Destroying my nemesis in front of a great, involved crowd, but with some humbling areas to work on in practice this week. GMG
  16. I think they count seats sold. Saying that, I would say this was the best ratio of reported attendance to butts in seats I can recall. Looking at the TV replay and the view I had of the stadium from Section 110 (and briefly from two rows in front of my club seats), that was the biggest crowd I have seen in Apogee. And I have been to all but one. GMG
  17. Haven't seen any posts about the "cooler" turf. Didn't mention it on the Stadium replay. Has anyone heard if the turf is noticeably cooler? Uniforms appeared to be less sweat soaked, but I guessed that was related to the level of competition we were up against. GMG
  18. I am hoping we have 30,000 inconvenienced every game this season. GMG
  19. Who are the Kokjohn’s, for $100, Alex? (and to top it off, they moved to Denton...after Troy’s eligibility ended) GMG
  20. 1-1 tie, Final GMG
  21. I was only there for the first 15 minutes (niece's birthday party) but they were running punting drills to start. Didn't get numbers but I saw a couple of really nice punts, i.e hang time, distance, etc. And that was against the wind. Happy my niece wasn't born during football season. GMG
  22. Prescient? Or coincidence? Worthy of a royalty? i will be in the stands. GMG
  23. Good crowd. Fun to see. I wasn't aware it was an exhibition until I read the OU story after the game. Interesting we can charge $8/seat for an exhibition. We outshot them 10-4 in the second half and had a legitimate chance or two. We moved down behind the OU goal with about 10 minutes left in the game. Definitely hear some chatter you don't hear from the stands. The field was perfect. Son and I reminisced about my favorite GMG.com game...the one we got to play on that soccer field. Scott Hall QB'd, pretty even teams and the grass field was nice. GMG
  24. I remember that day. It was a good day. GMG
  25. Sighted on the 2nd half kickoff return team. Being on special teams ain't the showcase opportunity it used to be, with the new kickoff rules. GMG
