  1. There is no other answer. I will never pull for my team to lose. Let those in control, control. GMG
  2. Is it true that NT Drumline created the “hit the drumstick of the drummer next to you” technique? My first recall of the Drumline was in 1980 when they passed one stick to the drummer next to them, and the guy on the end left-hand tossed his drumstick over the line to the drummer on the other end of the line…who immediately incorporated the newly acquired stick into the routine all others on the line were doing. GMG
  3. Bounced one off the right post with 30 seconds left in regulation. I was at the other end of the field, but I think their goalie came down to kick that penalty kick and scored it. GMG
  4. It was a limited edition. Late arrivers were not offered one. GMG
  5. Congratulations to @Brett Vito for graduating from being blamed for losses because you chose us to win to provoking fans through your pick to consider whether winning is a good idea or not. By my count, you are 7-0 on your picks this year (you may have picked us to win one other but I don't recall it). Let's make it 8 in a row and leave the rest to those in control of what happens next. GMG
  6. You could also make the argument that the fact he was there but they didn’t have him speak makes it clear the administration knows how the fan base feels. I suspect he will be here unless they can find someone to buy out the contract in addition to the support they are seeking to build up the athletic center. GMG
  7. Tulane. Not in the Super Dome. GMG
  8. They’ll be fine. They beat a P6 by 28 last week, on the road. GMG
  9. Because aspiring to be something more than you are is verboten? When we were in the Sunbelt, I wanted to be in the CUSA. When we were there, I wanted to be in the MWC. When we might be in the AAC, I want to be in the MWC. And then the SWC, and the Big 12. Aspiring to be better than you are is a good thing. No offense. GMG
  10. In one of Kevin Bacon’s finest roles. That scene is my six degrees of separation. Because I once wore whitey tighties. When I was six. GMG
  11. So almost 5% of our budget goes to the football coach, whose record is near the worst of all of our sports? And the team that doesn’t field the most expensive sport is the only team we beat? Got it. GMG
  12. I'll have 5 or so. Plenty of room in the 110 but if anyone else is in that section, they will be sitting in my seats until I get there. They will protest that their GA tickets allow them to sit there. And I will fire up my phone to show them that the seats they are sitting in really are bought and paid for. I will explain that I have had to have the same conversation for literally every other NT game at Apogee since its opening in 2011. I will tell them I have spoken with the athletic department, tickets sellers and the yellow shirts numerous times to be better about telling GA ticket buyers where they can sit. I will tell them none of those three have been responsive or made any effort to prevent he or she in my seats and I from having to have this discussion. Every game since the stadium opened. And the seat squatters will reluctantly go sit in any other of the 19000 or so cheap seats that will be available in the Wing and/or student side. After that, I will support my team, yelling loudly. And at halftime, when everyone is out of section 110, I will wonder if it was my being loud or the team that chased them off. And I will do all of that again for one game in November. GMG
  13. Regionalize the Olympic sports and align M and W hoops and football into alliances that maximize TV interest. MWC makes a pretty good living off being the last game on TV every Saturday, regardless of who plays. GMG
  14. I respectfully ask you not to feel bad for me. I had a blast, as did my son. The fans here were great and they showed great respect for our effort. It wasn’t a win. No one thought it would be. We outgained them, after gaining 112 yards in the 1H. Defense played well in the second half. And it really is amazing what happens when you keep drives going longer after the defense makes drives go shorter. They played mostly starters the whole game. Whatever you think of your team, their fans feel like their SEC team allowed a CUSA team to make them look horrible. Maybe they are, or maybe we are getting better. I feel bad for NT fans that didn’t come to the game. Don’t feel bad for me on Friday either. I look forward to being at Apogee. GMG
  15. Thanks so much, Mr. Adler! GMG
  16. I am a breakfast for any meal guy so I do Cartwright's and I am looking forward to trying Stacks on Dallas Drive. Bride says their (Cartwright's) swiss mushroom burger (w/sweet potato fries) is her favorite in town. GMG
  17. my son and I are attending the game Saturday with Mizzou alum friends. Looking forward to being in another stadium for the first time, and appreciate your insights. Weather will be great. Here's to a game that is fun to watch. GMG
  18. I defer. GMG
  19. Adler, I’d buy one of those from you if you have an extra (and if it is Nike-logo free). GMG
  20. That seals it. MWC stocking future opponent apparel. GMG
  21. I was encouraged in the second half, and actually leaped when we cut it to 7 with time to play. Fair balance: Defense played well in the second half, against an offense that was averaging in the high 30’s through 3 games. Against their 2nd and 3rd (Frosh) string QBs. Fair balance: Offense made it to “watchable” when Aune came in. Against a defense that is giving up a bit more than 40 before last night. GMG
  22. Doesn’t appear we got one week better in all three phases of the game this week, or any week this season. And not getting one week better in a fourth phase: penalties. (Edited for fairness: penalties slowed, defense improved) GMG
  23. I prefer the idea of a regional conference, if the local egos allowed. That said, I have always preferred going West (mountain, not coastal) than East for most aspects of my life (travel, potential retirement, less concentrated populations, weather, common sense, etc). Has anyone ever proposed G5 football/basketball only conferences, and then doing regional Olympic sport conferences to localize rivalries and travel? Whatever income football/hoops generate would still help fund the other sports, but costs of the sports that generate less revenue would drop and maybe the football conference egos wouldn't be as worried about their Olympic sports, for instance, being associated with their "lessers." GMG
