  1. Sept 2, 2023...Cal comes to Denton. A whole new offense but he will know our guy's tendencies. GMG
  2. Sold programs at TCU games when I was a kid. They are my home town team. It prepared me well in those days to pull for the underdog. That led me to North Texas. Generally I'll watch any game that has an underdog. There is no underdog in most P5 games. GMG
  3. I listen on my Apple podcast app, from my iphone. Maybe it is a placebo effect, but the last recording was different than previous podcasts at least to my ears. Thanks, and GMG
  4. Meant to say the same, and glad you did GG. Big improvement without compromising the spontaneity and flow. GMG
  5. Is this a North Texas thing or a must-have in every athletic department? I am not entirely confident we have gotten our money's worth from this spend unless it is just a vetting service for guys we are already chasing or who have applied. I guess HR doesn't do that in college athletics. GMG
  6. Besides the weekly reaction to Vito's prediction post, the most anticipated posts of the week were reactions to Seth's post game interview and the mid-week presser. And now you want him to talk? But, GMG
  7. Thanks AZ. I second GG. I notice it when I drive or listening via ear pods running in a noisy place. You have this habit of tailing off your sentences. There also is a tick where you sort of fumble/mumble a thought, that tails off to quiet. They are traits I like listening too...I drink a beer when it happens. That said, the podcast is always worth the listen. Grateful for the effort given to the show. -30-
  8. Was it a hold? Anyone have video? GMG
  9. Reminds me of what an incredible ambassador he was playing at North Texas. I can't recall a player who I enjoyed watching or listening to more in his postgame interviews. A good guy. GMG
  10. Next year: "three time participant in Senior Day though this time its Senior Citizen Day, and all time touchdown record setter, Austin Aune!" GMG
  11. Thank you for the abridged "one thing to watch." It was compelling, but I was never moved by the role of the editor and the writer started out strong but couldn't carry the part throughout. I did find the cameo role played by the headline writer was delivered with much verve and gusto. GMG
  12. I hear they will be dropping seeds on the fake grass so it will spell Rice in the spring. GMG
  13. We had the horned frogs at home! Before electricity apparently. Great find, btw. GMG
  14. Uniforms worn on the Halloween game vs Rice that gave us “The Stand?” GMG
  15. My skull and hands require some recovery. As do the walls in my house that said skull and hands hit. Hard. Any non-physical healing time will be spent with my pastor in an extended Confession session. Beats the soap in the mouth method. GMG
  16. Austin Aune is playing great right now. He completed 73% of his passes yesterday, had 5 touchdowns in a half, passed for 414 yards and averaged more yards per reception than he had in leading the nation in the stat up to this game. He is a QB that makes mistakes sometimes. That happens to a lot of QB's from what I understand. Regardless, the TEAM is winning and they are fun to watch. One of my favorite plays in the game was the second play of the 4Q. A false start on the first play gives NT a first and 15 at our 39. Aune appeared to attempt a handoff to Farrar. Farrar isn't ready and on the broken play, Aune gains 12 with some nice moves in traffic. Simply a miscommunication with the new running back and the experienced QB turns it into a nice play. Consider enjoying this little streak of fun outcomes and suspend the obsessed focus on what is wrong with the program. This could be something special and the constant bitching around blowout wins isn't becoming. (for fair balance, I would swear Austin has five pick 6's. I recall four in three games...hated all four of them) But, GMG
  17. We intentionally bought season tickets at the top of a row so we could stand the whole game without bothering any one behind us. We are in Section 110, a reserved seat section that all GA ticket buyers think is GA. They think that, in part because the university, the athletic department and the stadium security don't do anything to communicate where GA seating is. So we control what we can control. After shooing away the people sitting in our seats just before kickoff (literally every single game since the stadium opened), we yell the entire game. Helps clear out the GA'ers. But most importantly, the atmosphere where we sit is almost always great. Because the fans I sit with are great fans, care about the program, care about the game, care about the play. Every play. GMG
  18. Baseball at North Texas was drastically underfunded as a D-1 program. They played at Mack Field miles from campus. They were given, I think, two scholarships for the entire team. That's basically a Big Chief notepad and McDonalds coupons. It is a great spectator sport, the talking sport, played in the Spring. There is great talent close to home. We didn't win a whole lot of games in our D-1 days but it is always fun to watch players that love the game, even in crappy conditions, play like it means something. We are upgrading the conference. We should add baseball. GMG
  19. Looking forward to it. Where will it be? GMG
  20. Still tailgating Saturday? Where? Wonder if we get baseball back if Aune would pitch at 35 or so? Save that eligibility, Austin. GMG
  21. Thanks to you and Aldo. I just feel like I know more about the game after listening to your podcast. Best game recap podcast we have. The game previews are great also. Appreciate the time you put into this. GMG
  22. See it as an opportunity to enhance crowd size. That puts my guess at 21,367. GMG
  23. Biggest crowd I can recall. Bonfire was smaller (one less day to build) but still put off a lot of heat. and of course the always festive and ceremonial releasing of the field mice was a treat. Fireworks show while the bonfire was starting to flame up. Fireworks should never be fired until dark (talking to you, Apogee). GMG
  24. Don't know what time, but player busses come in around 2.5 hours before the game. Band marches around the parking lot around 1.25 hours before the game. GMG
  25. If for no other reason than "the kids," North Texas should hold the parade. Denton and area children love a parade, and many love sports. I would get the local Pop Warner teams to participate (as in floats), and the middle school teams and I would even offer the high school teams a spot in the parade, and provide each kid a ticket to the game. Love the Greek competitions. Nothing bonds an organization like late night, last minute float preparation. And market the hell out of North Texas sports. Every team not competing that weekend should have its own recognition. Connect this school to the community! I would support a GMG effort to bring back the parade. GMG
