  1. And Baylor. GMG
  2. @TIgreen01 I'd certainly be up for testing the theory. I am not a huge giver by any means...I think there are something like 19 that can claim that. And that is the point. When there is only a few billionaires and millionaires, even they have an upper limit they can give. I bet they are praying other similar dollar givers to join them. Soon. If I had my way, we would all post the amount of money we give to the program next to our (mostly) alias names. It wouldn't change our right to voice an opinion....just provide context as to the commitment of he who opines. My point: The person who calls out "fire the coach" after that coach's first game is rarely the guy responsible for the million+ dollar buy out. I want to hear the opinions of the guys that are coming out of pocket. (Caveat: I fully understand we all have different circumstances that affect what we give) (Caveat 2: apologies to @UNTethered Eagle...just reading some of the other threads and it appears you already fought this battle) GMG
  3. * I pull for one school, and all of its teams. The only professional sport I watch is golf. There are no Ranger, Stars, Mavs or Cowboys wins to salvage a weekend. North Texas is it. I invest a lot of emotional capital, along with a few bucks, in my passion, my hobby. * Pretty sure there is not a single player, coach or athletic department employee who has been here as long as I have. The school and the name last, no human does. I pull for the school and the name. Everyone else is temporary. I deeply care about this school, and its most passionate and long(er) time fans, like Gray Eagle, SUMG, FFR, et al. * The three hours before the game, tailgating, do salvage some of the mood swing I get from a loss, any loss, but especially losses like Saturday. Yesterday, it was gumbo, cornbread, pre-game Scotch (Laphroaig this time), pre-game pickle and some really great family, including my son who has never missed a home game in his 27 years, and friends. Thanks also to @Pete Hadley for the nice welcome and parting gift, @malonebbqsauce. Maybe I need more Scotch next game. * I try to wait 24 hours after a loss before paying much attention to gomeangreen.com. It is always nice to see how moods change from ground zero over the next 24-48 hours. * I am a loud, often sarcastic fan. I yell when we win, and when we lose. I don't yell against players. Almost every fan that was sitting in my seats before I got there, and who we have to negotiate with to get the seats we paid for, abandons the general area I am sitting in well before the game ends, usually before the half. If you are planning to study at the game, you will probably move also. * The 2Q Earle to Maclin bomb was thing of beauty. Seems like the ball was in the air for 23 seconds and Maclin ran to that ball like few could. I was almost drowned out by the other fans in Sections 109 and 110. * @aztecskin, MGN now on Substack, put things in perspective. If North Texas didn't come out in the second half, we would have scored the exact number of points and gained 9 less yards. @Venson suggested, and I concur: start Stone, put in Ruder if needed. If he doesn't emerge, Stone should be the starter for the rest of the year. * I gripe about the petty when the play on the field puts me in a bad mood. Petty like the much-hyped water stations. No one, security, other vendors, etc, knew where they were. When I spent about half of the third quarter looking for them, I found one that was empty and one other. On the way, I tried three water fountain stations. One worked. Petty like giving a decent amount of money to the program and buying approximately 80 football tickets a year for the games (48 of them season tickets) and having to pay $15 to print my tickets. Petty (not) like having to ask people to get out of my seats for something like the 70th straight game....every game since the stadium opened. Three different ADs have heard my complaint now, along numerous other department employees, including the 3 or 4 humans over the last decade or so that have invited me to breakfast once a year. Question for athletic department: will you print my tickets if I buy the breakfast next time another human? * All that said, after dropping by gmg.com this afternoon, I come to one conclusion: I suspect no other group of college fans demands more and gives less. We get what we pay for. You lads and lasses still need some venting, it appears. Flame away. GMG
  4. RSVP + 1. Oops, I'm tailgating. Went last night instead. Hope you enjoy our little scrum today (except the last two minutes). GMG
  5. wunderground.com: 95 at 3 pm, 96 at 4 and 5, 95 at 6. I remember how Texxas Jam never cancelled because of hot weather. In fact, they intentionally staged the concerts in June, July or August for 10 straight years in the 70's and 80's. Very unpredictable holding a concert in the Cotton Bowl in the summer months in Texas. You never know what the weather will be like. Somehow, both fans and bands made it through. GMG
  6. Coach and players commented on how great the IPF is. Coach has a good relationship with UF coach. GMG
  7. So much for that jeat advantage. #BeatCal anyway. GMG
  8. Gumbo and cornbread, in the creative hands of Mrs. untcampbell. GMG
  9. Get some Poppys kettle corn at the game. Stand up. Make noise. Make a difference. Do breakfast/lunch at Cartwrights on the square. Not necessarily in that order. GMG
  10. Getting a haircut on Friday. GMG
  11. I don't go often, usually when most of my regulars can't make it to the game. Think last game of the season. Some things may have changed since the last time I was there. They have all members on a list, so you just give them your name. They will probably put a band on your wrist. I believe one person can get in with you. Food usually is an outside caterer (not the school or any department), or has been in the past. BBQ, and I think they had gumbo one time. Water and sodas gratis, beer and wine for purchase. Usually more than one college game playing on the screens, and sometimes they have live music. GMG
  12. Good food, the AC works and so does the heat when its cold outside. So yes, worth the money. That said, I prefer my seats downstairs where getting noisy happens. I go up for a beverage and some grub at halftime. GMG
  13. I think that is the first picture I have seen of Mosley where the human next to him wasn't a foot shorter. GM(J)G
  14. Beats A$M Commerce 3-1 to go 4-0. First goal given up of the season but now 12-1 scoring advantage. VB loses to CU for the first Mean Green loss of the season. All sports are 6-1 pretty darn good through week 2. Lets make week 3 special(er). GMG
  15. I love magicians. Great find SUMG. GMG
  16. A proud member of "popular demand." GMG
  17. The only things worth saving at Fouts were the in/out, JMGC on-field half time and post-game on field policies. It also had a great grassy tailgate area on the band practice field, I believe. Grass you could walk and run on barefooted. But I do have many, many fond memories of the place. GMG
  18. Welcome to stop by our tailgate....nothing fancy (unless you like a good peaty Scotch and a pre-game pickle), but the folks at Cal treated us nicely when we were there a few years back. I was surprised at how many aligned with us in political discussion, but don't let that scare you if you align differently. Plenty of waters and other beverages, and we are toying with how to feed 12-15. We will be at the south end of the Blue parking lot, under a UNT pop-up shade. Silver GMC Acadia. Travel safely. GMG
  19. NT wins 3-0 over UNLV this afternoon at the Buff Invitational. NT sports remains undefeated in the new year of 2023. GMG
  20. Not to be flippant or sarcastic, but no. We occasionally win home games. #ProveMeWrong GMG
  21. An empty bottle. And this: https://www.propelwater.com/products/electrolyte-hydration/powder/grape/single-serve-10ct-carton GMG
  22. Is the ticket transfer process fairly intuitive? We don't all go into the stadium at the same time. GMG
  23. First look at FIU, LaTech and Navy. GMG
