  1. Congrats' JQ to one of the most talented and nicest kids to ever play for the Mean Green! And, one heck of a GRAND family as well.... The Mean Green Nation is rootin' for ya! ParksAndRecRick
  2. I had the priviledge of spending two evenings with Ernie as we hosted the Mean Joe Greene Golf Classic for three years at Tangle Ridge. Each year Mean Joe would bring his former teammates up to Lone Star Park. Ernie was so fun and a pleasure to talk to and be around.....as is the entire Steel Curtain. It is fun enjoying these four players who I hated so much when I was young and they played for Pittsburg. I am honored that I have spent a few hours with these legends. Our prayers go out to Ernie's family and former teammates. Rick Herold
  3. My thoughts are somewhat different. First, a great hire for SMU. Coach Jones will turn around the program. However, Coach Dodge is bringing this program prominence and will continue to do... The Metroplex having 3 good teams will help keep more athletes from going out of State. And, if we will play each other each year...wow, what a thrill. According to Vito, UNT/SMU may be announced soon. Players are A-PLENTY. In time, it will hurt the Kansas and Missiou's of the world. And, who started that! Our own Hayden Fry, which opened up the pipeline of Texas to Iowa. All these other schools are using the same model. We have to worry about us! Rick V. continues to need our help on the Stadium. The SunBelt needs a Second Bowl Tie-In. Enought for All of us!!!!! It Ain't All Texas, Aggies, and Red Raiders!!!!
  4. 11th here....with 402 points!
  5. This is a grand hire for SMU and deserves our congratulations. I hope we can renew our series and have some exciting football games. Conference USA can be had...and Coach Jones will be at SMU and I would bet he would succees. Nothing better than SMU, TCU and UNT all having some winning seasons and creating some Metroplex football buzz. Just gets everyone's juices following.... and it shows that there is more than the Horns, Aggies and Red Raiders. Congrats to the SMU A.D.
  6. mUCH OF THE SUCCESS OF LEWISVILLE ISD IN FOOTBALL CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO COACH WILSON. HE BROUGHT THE FARMERS TO PROMINENCE THAN MANY OF HIS ASSISTANTS CARRIED THE TORCH THROUGH-OUT THE DISTRICT. HAD A CHANCE TO KNOW COACH FROM MY DAYS LIVING IN LEWISVILLE.
  7. Congrats. Do you have a website or such. I love to have original items from UNT grads. Good Luck! ParksAndRecRick
  8. BroRick, Thompson will be gone soon! Sorry. Better get ready to tell us who your next choice is.... He is out of $$$$$! TheOtherRick
  9. We, the UNT Athletic Fans have been spoiled for years about perks, prices, and freebees. Everything takes funding. Little things like tickets and parking passes. I remember before Rick V. got here how embarrased I was on how things looked. The football banquet, with steak dinner, needs to be a fund raiser, as all these type events. I tell everyone that I know how lucky we are for what we get for the money compared to other Universities! (As far as prestigue, perks, and parking and such). If I was an A&M or Horn Alum, I wouldn't get a look from the A.D. or their Staff, but here, I feel somewhat important. If y'all keep wanting to improve things, Rick V. and his Staff needs to create revenue. Another reason I always go, is there will be lots of recruits I'm sure. It's good for them to see our passion for the football program. See ya at the event.
  10. I hear SMU Insiders are saying June Jones will be announced as the next head coach of the Mustangs later this week. Y'all have any thoughts? And, one thing that I hope Wright Waters can do... There is NO DOUBT in my mind, that the SunBelt is up their with Conference USA in football! Our teams each have to play some money games against the big boys...and our record as a conference takes a plunge. Put us on a home or neutral field.....and watch the Belt Rock! And, heck, UL-Monroe still didn't get enough credit for beating Alabama on the road. We will be next...with a big upset in 2008! But, Wright Waters MUST continue to do his best to get us a second bowl. NO QUESTION that Troy would have won their Bowl. We would have been 2 and 0. That is a must.... And, playing a lowly Conference USA Team in New Orleans will lead to many victories for the Belt. ParksAndRecRick
  11. While I served my 5 years on the EXES, Jim Hobdy was the inspiration and the person who made it happen atleast for the first few years. It was his idea and passion. ParksAndRecRick
  12. UNT Flyer, I totally agree. Coen Brothers best work ever! Top 5 list of the Year! It will be back come Oscar time!

  16. HickoryHouse, Adler, and the Rest---I am just having some fun! I remember FFR talking about this years ago. It really is surprizing and dissapointing! Hopefully, it will approve in future years! ParksAndRecRick

  19. Can't. Sales doesn't justify!
  20. Sales!
  21. ONE Word: AWESOME!
  22. Very simple. Not enough merchandise sales. It is a free market world! What sells is what retailers handle!
  23. Great win for FAU and the Belt. My only regret is that Waters couldn't get Troy into a Bowl Game this year. The Belt would have gone 2 and 0! Congrats FAU! Mean Green Will be Ready in 2008
  24. Go Belt! We have been gone from Nawlins Bowl too long! I really think we are going back in 2008! Win another one for the Belt! The Conference that is Coming On!!!!!! ParksAndRecRick House of Blues Nawlins Again in 2008
  25. Jesse, No question that UNT has guided my career and created life-time relationships. But, it would be hard to top your story. In fact, I think you should send it to the UNT magazine. It's a wonderful story about our wonderful school. GRAND for YOU! Rick
