  1. Texas has yet another brutal OOC coming up in 2009 with ULM,Wyoming,UTEP & UCF. My crystal ball predicts Wyoming uspets UT like they did Tennessee this year and giving the Longhorns their only loss in 09. Oregon tops USC giving them their yearly 1 loss in Pac 10 play. Meanwhile the Utes get by Oregon in OOC play while spanking Wyoming in conference play. Utah finishes the regular season at 12-0 .. again while UT & USC go 11-1. However the BCS computers will once again make more sense than the on the field play thus giving the Longhorns and the Trojans the top 2 spots in the rankings and those 2 play for the 09 National Championship game.
  2. As long as the alumni buy season tickets and show up I don't really care if they sit and are quiet or stand and cheer. In my mind it should be up to the student body to provide all the cheering and heckling, but that's just my 2 cents. Would I prefer the alumni to be more vocal , of course.
  3. 1st 2 teams I put in , Midwestern State & PV A&M , had a case against us , I hate to try others
  4. SNL

  6. 77-77 Heading to 3rd OT!
  7. Do you think a Javarez Willis or Marcus Brister could fill that void ?
  8. Anyone planning on going ?? I would be interested in getting 7 more to land a table of 8
  9. http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?se...&id=3789373 Life of Reilly There are some games where cheering for the other side feels better than winning. by Rick Reilly They played the oddest game in high school football history last month down in Grapevine, Texas. It was Grapevine Faith vs. Gainesville State School and everything about it was upside down. For instance, when Gainesville came out to take the field, the Faith fans made a 40-yard spirit line for them to run through. Did you hear that? The other team's fans? They even made a banner for players to crash through at the end. It said, "Go Tornadoes!" Which is also weird, because Faith is the Lions. It was rivers running uphill and cats petting dogs. More than 200 Faith fans sat on the Gainesville side and kept cheering the Gainesville players on—by name. "I never in my life thought I'd hear people cheering for us to hit their kids," recalls Gainesville's QB and middle linebacker, Isaiah. "I wouldn't expect another parent to tell somebody to hit their kids. But they wanted us to!" And even though Faith walloped them 33-14, the Gainesville kids were so happy that after the game they gave head coach Mark Williams a sideline squirt-bottle shower like he'd just won state. Gotta be the first Gatorade bath in history for an 0-9 coach. But then you saw the 12 uniformed officers escorting the 14 Gainesville players off the field and two and two started to make four. They lined the players up in groups of five—handcuffs ready in their back pockets—and marched them to the team bus. That's because Gainesville is a maximum-security correctional facility 75 miles north of Dallas. Every game it plays is on the road. This all started when Faith's head coach, Kris Hogan, wanted to do something kind for the Gainesville team. Faith had never played Gainesville, but he already knew the score. After all, Faith was 7-2 going into the game, Gainesville 0-8 with 2 TDs all year. Faith has 70 kids, 11 coaches, the latest equipment and involved parents. Gainesville has a lot of kids with convictions for drugs, assault and robbery—many of whose families had disowned them—wearing seven-year-old shoulder pads and ancient helmets. So Hogan had this idea. What if half of our fans—for one night only—cheered for the other team? He sent out an email asking the Faithful to do just that. "Here's the message I want you to send:" Hogan wrote. "You are just as valuable as any other person on planet Earth." Some people were naturally confused. One Faith player walked into Hogan's office and asked, "Coach, why are we doing this?" And Hogan said, "Imagine if you didn't have a home life. Imagine if everybody had pretty much given up on you. Now imagine what it would mean for hundreds of people to suddenly believe in you." Next thing you know, the Gainesville Tornadoes were turning around on their bench to see something they never had before. Hundreds of fans. And actual cheerleaders! "I thought maybe they were confused," said Alex, a Gainesville lineman (only first names are released by the prison). "They started yelling 'DEE-fense!' when their team had the ball. I said, 'What? Why they cheerin' for us?'" It was a strange experience for boys who most people cross the street to avoid. "We can tell people are a little afraid of us when we come to the games," says Gerald, a lineman who will wind up doing more than three years. "You can see it in their eyes. They're lookin' at us like we're criminals. But these people, they were yellin' for us! By our names!" Maybe it figures that Gainesville played better than it had all season, scoring the game's last two touchdowns. Of course, this might be because Hogan put his third-string nose guard at safety and his third-string cornerback at defensive end. Still. After the game, both teams gathered in the middle of the field to pray and that's when Isaiah surprised everybody by asking to lead. "We had no idea what the kid was going to say," remembers Coach Hogan. But Isaiah said this: "Lord, I don't know how this happened, so I don't know how to say thank You, but I never would've known there was so many people in the world that cared about us." And it was a good thing everybody's heads were bowed because they might've seen Hogan wiping away tears. As the Tornadoes walked back to their bus under guard, they each were handed a bag for the ride home—a burger, some fries, a soda, some candy, a Bible and an encouraging letter from a Faith player. The Gainesville coach saw Hogan, grabbed him hard by the shoulders and said, "You'll never know what your people did for these kids tonight. You'll never, ever know." And as the bus pulled away, all the Gainesville players crammed to one side and pressed their hands to the window, staring at these people they'd never met before, watching their waves and smiles disappearing into the night. Anyway, with the economy six feet under and Christmas running on about three and a half reindeer, it's nice to know that one of the best presents you can give is still absolutely free. Hope. 10. I say yes if we leave the belt, join a new conference and If our schedule included : Week 1 @ Denton High ( Collins Field, better than Fouts) Week 2 vs Gainesville State School ( Home game so their really bad kids can't play who aren't allowed to travel) Week 3 @ N.J.I.T ( Basketball Team ) Week 4 @ Washington State ( just incase we are not already bottom 10 #1 yet ) Week 5 vs Texas Women's* ( Winnable homecoming game) Week 6 vs Houston Baptist* ( We're going to hell for the ass kicking we will deliver) Week 7 @ Lamar* ( Might be our last chance for a win before they actually field a team) Week 8 @ UTSA* ( Will be tough , but I think we can do it ) Week 9 vs South Alabama* ( Bama just too young to compete wit us) Week 10 vs Dallas Baptist* ( Game will be a toss up ) Week 11 @ Pandandle State* (OK) ( Finally a team from Oklahoma we can beat) Week 12 vs Paris JC* ( Could decide conference championship) * Our new conference
  11. So in 2002 when NATIONAL CHAMPION OHIO STATE beat conference USA foe Cinicinnati by 4 points that year you saying they shouldn't of been crowned champions ???? I mean hell even NORTH TEXAS beat CINCY by more that year in the NO Bowl... we won by 5 !!!!
  12. Your right , I don't even know why college football should even have games on the field. We might as well just have all the voters watch every team practice and then vote to decide on the National Champion without any games ever being played. I would be willing to bet that most Beavers might say Utah is better , but what do they know they only played them both on the field.
  13. A win is a win Well UNLV did beat a #15 ranked team at the time on the road against Arizona State. Could you agree that USC could be considered the National Champion this year ??? If so , it's ok that USC only beats Arizona by 7 , but Utah can go undeafted but their win vs a New Mexico team by only 3 is unacceptable ??
  14. SMU, the only Division I athletic program in Dallas, Texas I always wondered if that forgot about Dallas Baptist's Baseball program?? They are D I and pretty darn good
  15. I'd take him
  16. Ramone something i think ....maybe Flanigan
  17. I may of missed something , but has a new Special Teams coach been named / rumored yet ??? I think it might help to land Boswell , kicker for the West in the Army High School All Star game , if we had a coach. I was thinking maybe former MEAN GREEN and NFL star Erric Pegram would be a good candidate. I know he was interested a few years ago when the RBs coach position was available.
  18. True Dat Like my dad always says " Being pissed off is better than being pissed on"
  19. Um yeah , because the whole team is more behind him than Rodge. He has respect in the locker room. If he's pissed , believe me most of the team it pissed.
  20. Only way we are improved from last year : Give CAM the rock 20+ times a game. Our O-Line will probably be our only strength. Who is Vizza/Dodge going to throw to ??? I mean we lost our only big time threat , Fitz and probably our most reliable hands , Stick. If DD was head coach and he had CAM , he would have lead the nation in running. The guy can be a stud and Dodge has to swallow some pride and make him the focal point in the offense. Our DEF Line is still our weak point and will be continue to be exposed , so ball control might be our only option to stay competitive. Saying this Im not wanting DD back or think he shouldn't of gone , because it was time for him to go. But in order for this team to even dream about going .500 next season we have to be more run based
  21. You mean that same New Mexico team that BEAT Arizona! New Mexico beat Arizona by 8 (36-28) and guess what USC only beat Arizona by 7, ( 17-10)
  22. Might want to go look up the record of how the MWC did vs the Pac 10 this year
  23. I'm hoping Cameron Spencer to provide that inside punch , kid looks huge!
  24. If your counting on Knox coming in next year and helping us be more complete you will be dissappointed
