In terms of wins, yes we are in a dead spot. However, football has a new stadium to look forward to as well as a record setting receiver in CF. Plus #3 in average attendance, barring the inevitable terrible attendance for the 11/29 ASU game. A twist to the logic, I don’t think UNT is a team that can afford to let go a head coach every two years either. We are in year 4 of a losing program and I don’t like it any more than most of you. I do not think Dodge is football Jesus, but I am willing to hold off on calling for his head for a couple more years. If season 4 looks like season 2, then I believe RV will have the same type of meeting with Dodge he had with Dickey in 2001.

UNT 35 WKU 34 One point win and another sideline brawl at the end of the 4th quarter. In an odd turn of events the fighting gets the freshmen and sophomores excited and they play with reckless abandon the rest of the year. Fights break out during every game and we win out to finish the season 4-8!!!

Oklahoma State at 7-0 is a good example of a head coach being the OC and letting the defense and DC do their thing. Dodge made a comment about special teams earlier this year that he was taking a personal interest in the special teams play. Wonder what happened?

Just thinking outloud, if you take away the points allowed the defense had no control over (i.e. punt/kick-off returns, interception run backs or even drives that started within our 20 yd line) would the defense look better statistically than those other teams?

If you had a perennial top 25 team that was beginning to lose faith in a new coach, then by all means consider letting the coach go. However, we are in year 4 of a program that has barely won 2 games a season. Dodge was brought in to bring excitement and change the system. How long does it take to effect successful change? Who knows... But I figure RV will give him the 5(?) years in his contract to try, and I don't disagree with that. I don't know what is happening in the locker rooms, but I would say the players need to get behind Dodge and what he's trying to do, not the other way around. (somehow see Quoner making a statement about this line)

I'm right there with you. Both games were hard to watch. It was a lot easier to stay for a whole game in 2003-2004 than the last two years. I'll be there Saturday though!!!

Its rough seeing us make FIU look good, but I will give Dodge his time 4-5yrs before I start thinking about calling for his head. However, it's not to early to start looking at his assistants.

Tackling has been sub-par this year. Counted several 3-4 misses on some of the runs/receptions at Rice. Some argue however that if you lack speed or are in the wrong position then you will always be trying to arm tackle and will look like you don't know what you are doing. Combination of the three maybe?

Agree... The turn around may be slower than some like. But I have every confidence that he can turn it around. Especially with a dedicated athletics fee and new stadium. We have seen he is willing to make staffing changes when he deems them necessary. I have no reason to consider that he will not do the same this year if he finds it necessary.
