If I was FFR I would be embarrassed and ashamed on two accounts. First, for implying I said things I didn't say(See FFR POST #18, para.#6 in the "warning signs where there for years thread) and then having people like you without brains backing him up. I read his post and he not only misunderstood what I said he twisted what I said, and squirmed trying to defend his reputation as the the one and only authority of Mean Green Athletics. All this from a man who has Scripture at the bottom of his post. No, your god FFR, owes me the apology!
-
Listen, Mr. CaribbbeanGreen, I don't mean any disrepect towards you personally but I am not speaking to you directly. Sorry, my words(post) are directed to a group of individuals, who shall we say, are somewhat more influential . Now, if you want to easesdrop and even reply thats fine, just understand that my time is too valuable to respond to every kiddy post of yours. My suggestion to you, and its only an idea, would be for you to ignore my post.

Take a cruise dude.
-
My goodness. We so badly wanted to believe that Mr. Dickey knew what he was doing that we devised a scheme that would justify the absence of UNT from the areas top 100 recruiting lists. Oh my, guess you can finish my thought from here.
-
Rick, read my original post again, carefully. Read the second paragraph. Then read your posts. Wasn't this really all about you.
-
Rick, don't let your pride trip ya.
-
Also remember this. If we want to get that photo at an actual contest we only have three more home games this year. You must be prepared for bad weather in advance. If the first game day is a wash you must prepare for the next game. We need the picture now. Next year is too late!
-
I understand.
-
Rick, we will need that kind of photo for sure. Its just imperative that we get a quality photo of the top four people leading the team onto the field first. We want the band lined up on either side as they lead the team onto the field. We will want to make sure that the stands behind them are full, that means the section above the tunnel and to the right as well as the left. Everyone in that section must be wearing GREEN. The photo can be staged but it would be better if it was taken at an actual contest. Remember, this visual will be used in all marketing materials, including investor packets and recruiting manuals.

Thats a good synopsis untbowler. But I am going to show everyone how it is done step by step. How you actually make it happen. And I am going to do it on the internet so the other SBC schools can have access to this information. UNDERSTAND that step ONE is vital. There can be no moving forward to step two until we achieve step one. There is no substitute for Step One. Not if you want a top 20 or better 1A football team. I will explain later what we must do if we fail to acheive step one.
-
eulesseagle-- Relax, I will show you step by step exactly how you build a top 20 program even while we tread water in the SBC.
-
Step One. The chancellor, the president, the athletic director and the chairman of the board are all photographed by Yeatts, leading the football team onto the field. Having the chancellor carrying the school flag would be speak volumes about who we are and where we are going. The pictures will be used in all marketing materials, investor packets and recruiting manuals. These visuals will give testimony to our committment and solidarity in building a Top 20 football program. We will place a copy of this picture on the back of the press box facing I-35, with the caption in Big Bold Letters, FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!!!!! Now, this is a free piece of marketing advice that I give to you because I love my school. You can thank Dr. Meader for being one tough but excellent teacher at NTSU. Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words!

My sincere apology Mr. Rick. I forgot you single handedly saved the UNT Athletic program. What was I thinking? Please forgive me. The decision to return to 1A was made before '95. "We are a program much further along than we were then". Yeah right, we're much further along too bad it's not proportionate to the advances other schools have made during that same time period. The SBC, The Missouri Valley, The Southland or the Big West? Pick one. Color scheme. Which green are you talking about? Oh, you mean the copper and blue. " Athletics is a window to the University" Where is he? After nine years, beating SMU is a high point? Lord help us. As for RV. Yes, he didn't do it alone. I guess I should have been giving you more praise instead. Sorry.
-
What about....Here come the Lean Greeeeeeennnn!!!!!!!
-
The man had a losing record sir. He was 5-6 or did you forget? He won the freaking SBC not the Big 12. His team didn't even show up against CSU. If our people were serious about this program Dickey would have 1) never been hired and 2) would have been fired after the 5-6 season. How many coaches get fired with winning records because their schools have a higher standard. Look at this man's record. His record screams fire me, fire me, fire me. A wise man would have sent Dickey packing after that 5-6 record.
-
I was there in '95. I've been there since 1970. The product on the field is no better, period. What is better is the game day atmosphere and that is the result of the efforts of one man, RV. I think my post clearly suggested that RV stay at UNT.
-
What we face now, after nine years of Dickey ball, will be more difficult to overcome than when we returned to 1A from 1AA in 1994. Trying to convince anyone that this university is committed to excellence on the football field will be terribly difficult if not completely impossible. Our people, the decision makers, lack the insight, knowledge, wisdom and yes, integrity needed to make the right decisions. Without desire there is no motivation. Without motivation there can be no bonafide committment. Without a strong commitment goals mean nothing. We are where we are on the ladder of success because this is where we chose to be. Shame on you all who abused your power! The only one worth keeping is RV.

It doesn't matter what the difficult circumstances are, if any. If you don't have the necessary artillery to fight a battle and win you for sure don't go and tell the enemy, do you? Why aid TCU and SMU in the recruiting battle? A difficult circumstance to me would be finding yourself in a situation were an employee has the advantage because he signed a one-sided contract all in his favor.
-
First of all GangGreen, it really doesn't really matter whether someone already posted or not, correct? Nod your head up and down and say yes. Good. And secondly, Dickey is being paid good money. We are the CUSTOMER and don't let yourself ever forget that point. If someone sold you a defective product or served you lousy food and refused to make things right don't you dare tell me you wouldn't complain. Darrell Dickey is wrong for this program PERIOD and that needs to be posted until he is no longer at UNT!
-
Quit telling recruits and investors what a terrible, difficult situation you find yourself in at UNT. You always come across as a complainer and excuse maker. Sell the positives about my school or go find another job! By the way, who is forcing you to stay at UNT?
-
Squandered is a perfect term to describe dickey's tenure. You place way too much emphasis on SBC championships. That's dickey's problem as well.
-
Getting back to where we were a few years ago isn't good enough! Doesn't anyone understand?
-
Hey shaft, my comment flew right over your head. We weren't 20 point favorites because after NINE YEARS we still don't have a real head coach.
-
Can you or anyone else just imagine for one moment what would happen if the Chancelor, flanked on either side by the President and Athletic Director, boldly and passionately proclaimed that the University of North Texas had a goal of reaching the top 10 in football in 4 years. Also we will build a new 45,000 seat on campus stadium in that four year period. Enthusiasm is contagious. The attitude of the students, alumni and investors would change dramatically. You come up with a battle cry or slogan that unites everyone. What we currently have now are pretenders. A half-hearted effort. A double-minded committment. Is it any wonder this program sits at the bottom when it comes to respect. Who in their "right mind" would invest their hard earn money in any business or company being run the way this school runs its athletic program? We are where we are on the ladder of success because this is where we choose to be!
