I'll be the first to admit that I'm not excited at the thought of McNulty being the starting QB. He hasn't really shown much during game time that would give me confidence in him. However, maybe he is the best option right now. Derek Thompson was very similar in his progression. We all thought it was the end of the world going into his senior year because of his lack of ability to make plays, but then we had a great season. After watching the Periscope videos, it was clear that this season will come down to him and Smith, but McNulty knows the offense better and can take care of the ball. Either way, our defense better be ready to pick up the slack of our offense.

I think G5 schools have a hugeee opportunity right now to set themselves apart from the rest and start building a juggernaut...a la Boise State. This will sound shallow, but make your stipend larger than than every other G5 and higher than most other P5 schools. Then go out there and basically buy top talent. Do this for a couple of years and build a winning tradition and hopefully you can sustain when the NCAA sets a stipend limitation. If the big boys want to pay their players, then lets beat them at their own game.

I think all non power conference should adopt this philosophy. Let the big boys fight each other. Or if we really have to play the big guys to pay the bills then play the lower tier teams like Indiana, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, etc.

They did a great spotlight segment on Carlos at the opening of today on CBS. I can't find it anywhere online but will keep searching.
