The problem with engagement and getting new potential fans out is if they don’t enjoy the on-the-field product then it was all for naught. The odds of them showing again is almost zero. My understanding is that for them to be NCAA compliant, athletic performance, including where you may end up on the depth chart, cannot be a stipulation of the contract. If you are on the team in good standing and meet your NIL “obligation” (public appearances, ads, or whatever) you get your money.

Just out of curiosity, if given the choice which would you pick? Which would be more in-demand across the country if they hit the market at the same time? I’m not advocating for one or the other, just want to see which you would choose based on their collegiate resume. It is possible GJ Kinne wanted the JMU guy more than Chandler. It is also possible that Chandler Morris would rather attend North Texas than SWTSU-SM.

I think he means the practices in fall after Morris shows or doesn’t show.

We were not 6-7 in 2022, we were 7-5 and 7-7 if you count our conference championship game and bowl game losses. Littrell was 7-6 and Bennett was 0-1.

I think the fact that he hasn’t played for his father though his 4 years of high school or his 4 years of college pretty much shows he can function fine on his own. Playing for your father or coaching under your father doesn’t seem to have set back Kendall Briles or Riley Dodge. If anything, they got a leg up because of the success of their fathers.

He has proven that he doesn’t need daddy to hold his hand but some of us love our fathers and spending time with them. If my dad was back in Texas coaching college ball and I only had a year or two left I would want to spend some time with him before my hourglass ran out of sand. This is probably why Jim Harbaugh had his dad as part of the staff at UM even though he didn’t need him there. Besides the dad/son relationship stuff, San Marcos and central Texas are a pretty sweet place to live.
