  1. I was just looking through facebook and checked Johnny's page to see if there was any news on the Bills. He has an album which is titled Buffalo Bills and he has pictures of the practice facility and stadium in there. He also has some pics of him out and about and the part that makes me proud is that he has graduated and is thousands of miles away and he still wears North Texas gear in public. He is the man! It's good to be green.
  2. The greatest high school running back I saw in person was Tellis Redmon from Grapevine/Colleyville fame. I played for Coppell so we met on the field. The greatest HS back I saw in person was a quarterback and that was Odell James of Aldine Macarthur. That guy was amazing.
  3. Is it too much to dream of a coach that stays with one program throughout its rise to the top, retires from that program a legend, and lives forever in college football lore? I'll continue to dream of RoboCoach who is not tempted by bright lights, big conference, big money. I know it's corny movie stuff but everyone has their own dreams.

How many Mean Green faithful do you think has the means to go to more than one MWC away game? How about the CUSA away games? The shortest 4 CUSA distances could be day trips, only TCU for the MWC. There was a mistake in my original data as I failed to include TCU. Even with TCU included now, the CUSA schedule still has a shorter avg driving distance of 4.5 hours and 320 miles. Go to San Diego and Colorado for vacation but most students can't afford to make a trip like that more than once a year, much less 5 times in 3 months.
  5. I think you guys have forgotten how big west Texas is. There is only 1 MWC school within 600 miles of us, TCU. CUSA has 6, UH, Memphis, Rice, SMU, Tulane, and Tulsa. If we have any desire for away game attendance, CUSA would be the way to go. Personally I would be willing to go to CUSA away games at Tulsa, SMU, Tulane, Rice and UH for sure. In the MWC, only TCU. The average distance between Denton and MWC schools is 15.375 hrs or 1035 miles. The average distance between Denton and CUSA schools is only 9.18 hrs or 604 miles.
  6. This has got to be my all-time biggest gripe about home games, that and the sorry speakers the cheerleaders used that were nothing but static and noise. My buddy and I were going to do just that until we lost all momentum by daring to criticize the Talons.
  7. You can't focus on students and still conduct research? Or perhaps involve the students in the research?
  8. That is not entirely accurate. These are two instances that occurred just this year. Also, there were 8 coaches hired by other schools before the position's 30 days were up. Your evidence DD was fired November 8 meaning we couldn't hire someone until December 8. If you wait until November 27th, the Monday after the last game, you cannot hire Dodge until December 27th and you miss out on the North Texas publicity during the HS playoffs
  9. Boy I guess you were right, those non-scholarship non-qualifiers really helped that perfect season and a win in the Fiesta Bowl. Could it have anything to do with heart and an unconventional coach? The NQs have to fund themselves and make the same grades as everyone else at the college level. What is the problem?
  10. I guess it doesn't apply to the major league Cleveland Indians or the Seminoles of Florida State. I guess it is just offensive for small schools without money to use the indian nickname.
  11. Just pointing out he isn't bulletproof. After knocking off OU they should've easily handled SMU. He is a good coach, I'm just not sure about the great part. And hypothetically, if Todd Dodge was to run the table and beat the likes of OU and Arkansas, would you be willing to put him at the top of the list after just one year?
  12. “All I did was take cash,” J.D. Quinn said. “I didn’t break any laws and I get kicked off the team, but there’s people on the team that are breaking laws and failing drug tests and stuff like that, and there’s nobody getting kicked off the team for that type of stuff.”
  13. ....and turned around and lost to lowly SMU the following week
  14. I think it would be awesome to have guys like Stone Cold show up to the games. It reminds me of the UT game this year when Chuck Norris, the whole stadium erupted with fans from both teams screaming like crazy. It was awesome!
  15. Why does it seem that SMU sees TCU as a rival but TCU doesn't see SMU as one? Seems the same for SMU and us. Maybe I'm the only one but it seems like the big dog in both cases swats the smaller dog down. Guess we'll have to become a bigger dog to get them to want to be out rivals.
  16. I voted. I tried to vote a second time and the vote total did not increase so I assume you can only vote once.
  17. I agree, it is my favorite of the bunch. My second fav would be the 1968-1971 helmet.
  18. How do I go about doing that? As you can probably tell, I've never heard of that.
  19. I reserved 2 seats today as a non-member since you can't technically become a member until after you graduate. I'll be a NT ex in December. I'm gonna be beating down the front door of the ticket office on the morning of June 20.
  20. The thing that I think would hurt Dylan most at the next level is being on a team that runs any sort of play that pulls a guard. His lack of speed just killed him with that last year. I remember several occasions last season when J-mo couldn't hit a hole because Dylan couldn't get out of the way fast enough. Jamario would get tackled from behind before DL could even get back to the line of scrimmage. If he was a center I don't think it would've been that big of a problem.
