  1. Riley's turnovers = 3 North Texas penalties = 7 FAU avg starting field position = own 35 Dunbar rushing = 100 yd FAU score = 27 I would guess over on all of these. If we could somehow keep all of these under except for Dunbar going over 100, we could finally win a game. Too many mental mistakes cost us too often. Discipline starts with the coach.
  2. I thought you were using those accolades as why he should start and I was pointing out that it doesn't distinguish him from the last freshman starter we had. Didn't Meager even get some honorable mention freshman all american honors? Put Thompson in last year and he has those same honor and possibly even Baine. Point is, Riley was moved to wr because he couldn't throw. Just because our 2 top qbs went down does not mean that Riley all of a sudden got some arm strength. Baine was a baseball player so he should have reliable arm strength to go with his athletic ability and 6ft 210lb frame.
  3. Big Deal. That can happen when you start a freshman in a pass first offense.
  4. Against the powerhouses Rice and Wyoming. Let me know when they are #2 and have played somebody. Same crap last year when their "#1 rush defense" got exposed by Alabama.
  5. I voted for Baine. He has been at NT since '08 practicing with the QBs. He should have picked something up by now. He has a stronger arm and better build than Riley. Good thread
  6. Have Chuck Peterson put in some of his plays from Air Force. The qbs we have left are all runners. If we throw some crazy option stuff at FAU, they will be caught so off-guard that we actually may have a shot.
  7. No chance. What did he do to prove he can turn this thing around besides get fired from USF and have to try to resurrect his career in the Sun Belt.
  8. That is bad money for a FBS head coach. It would rank around 90th out of 120. I would be good money for a Sun Belt coach though. Mario Cristobal at FIU is the highest paid right now and makes $390k. It is not good for a DFW FBS head coach either as June Jones ($2M) and Gary Patterson ($1.3M) are the highest 2 paid coaches in non-BCS conferences. To get in the middle of the pack you need to be paying about $1 million a year. Top 100 coaches salaries
  9. Obviously we are lacking in the QB dept, our starting QB has no arm strength but he does have decent wheels. Having said that, what if we changed the offense up? Just add a few simple running plays out of a running formation. One thing we do have is damn good running backs. I know you guys are high on Canales but I think we have a coach on our current staff that could implement an offense that could be successful with our remaining talent.
  10. I like Bower if we could get him. He knows how to win without BCS resources. Kragthorpe would be good if we got Tulsa Kragthorpe and not Louisville Kragthorpe. The others I just don't see coming to NT.
  11. Chase Daniel, Greg McElroy, and even Kyle Padron seem to have been having or had better college careers than Riley. I would guess there probably was someone as good or better but Todd groomed Riley his entire life to be a qb so he had to allow that to happen. I doubt anyone else had a shot.
  12. Had he named Riley the starter over Thompson, fans would have been kicking down RV's door.
  13. Because he bet the house on his son only to find out his son doesn't have the arm strength. That is why we haven't had many qb recruits. Nobody wanted to sit behind Riley. That is the same reason Giovanni left. I've heard it from one of Gio's friends that he didn't want to have to deal with the Riley situation and I don't blame him.
  14. Of course not, because that would force the coach's son into backup receiver duty.
  15. Something about having a noodle for an arm. He may be a heck of an athlete, but have you seen Jose Canseco pitch? Same concept.
  16. the green team? A group of 2nd and 3rd string guys led by a young Matt Phillips and an unknown walkon wideout named Casey Fitzgerald nearly saved Darrell Dickey's job at home vs LA Tech until he foolishly put back in the first teamers. Maybe there can be a new Green team with Baine or Dodson at qb and somebody else calling plays? Nevermind. I got this 2nd hand from Roger Clemens so I must've misremembered.
  17. Do K-State fans count towards the 5k? I would like a free taco.
  18. As long as his girlfriend attends UNT, I would guess yes.
  19. Thats right. Thanks. I forgot signalman. What is the story on Dodson? Is he a scout team hero or is he on the qb depth chart somewhere?
  20. Probably the freshman Teegarden because Dodge has relegated Baine to 1st string clipboard holder/red cap wearer.
  21. Look at the bright side. We will get to open our new stadium with the optimism and excitement a new coach brings.
  22. We could be the new Miami. I like it.
