Emmitt, realistically who outside of Mike Leach would really sell suites and season tickets at a school in DFW? I don't think Fran or Leavitt is going to make the immediate fan support some expect. Leach would have the suites sold out in no time for sure because he was ranked in the top 5 at a Texas school. I don't think Fran ever got the Aggies into the top 25 in his time there. Leavitt is not a Texas guy so you might not get the DFW impact that would sell out those suites and tickets. I'm thinking they must know something we don't if they are truly going in this direction. Maybe they decided that "splash" hires don't always succeed. Who knows, I will just be glad when Tuesday gets here and this insanity is over.

I disagree. While it is important for him not to let out the full candidate list, I think it would make since to flat some names out through various channels to gauge fan reaction. If McCarney was their favorite, leaking his name has led to a near revolt on the main fan message board. This might lead them to reconsider. Then again, it might not.

Maybe the Auburn boosters went down at halftime and gave some Bama players/coaches something to take their focus off winning the game.

So have Nick Saban, OSU's president, and every other BCS elitist that won't give them a chance. If you can hold their head under water, they won't take your spot in the boat. I don't like that kind of thinking. If all schools fear giving lower-tier schools a chance is a threat to diminish or surpass them, there will never be progress in college football. Attitudes like these are why Boise and TCU played each other last year and neither will sniff the BCS title game this year. The only reason they were invited to the BCS bowls in the first place is because the elitists fear the anti-trust lawsuit.

Absolutely possible. Ball State did it year before last and they are terrible. You just have to have cupcakes OOC and win your conference games, the way the big boys do(only we have easier conference games).
