"The Current North Texas Helmet Is Pathetic Considering...
Cr1028 replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Amen. They get trickier by the day. -
I'm in the minority but I personally believe that the North Texas breastplate is a better choice. I like to be known as North Texas over UNT. Here in Austin, besides the longhorn logo, I see more things that say TEXAS than UT. I think we should consider that our logo and the letters UNT are not recognizable to the bulk of U.S. Americans. I think NORTH TEXAS on the uniform instantly lets them know who we are even if they don't have maps like such as South Africa or the Iraq. This could help our children's future.

Former UNT coach Chuck Peterson to Orange Lutheran
Cr1028 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
He was on Todd Dodge's staff so we had long been UNT when he came here. He was a really nice guy and a great coach, I think they just had him at the wrong position. The guy was OC at Air Force for years and even won a National Assistant Coach of the Year award for his work on offense but Todd Dodge decided to make him a secondary coach. Brilliant. -
Y'Barbo Named "Tip of the Spear" last week

I would guess for speed. Maybe they want him to be a pulling guard or perhaps just want him at a lower body fat before they start putting on lean muscle. -
I thought as soon as you enrolled full-time in a post-secondary institution that your 5 year clock started rolling. Am I misunderstanding the rule?

Would you prefer Texas State, UTSA, Both or Neither?
Cr1028 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Back on topic. If we didn't get into the alliance, would you rather have TSU-SM, UTSA,neither, or both. I'd choose TSU-SM for the selfish reason that they are close to my home and I want an in-state rivalry(since SMU will perpetually duck us). I just get the feeling if the rest of college football had the same attitude as some of us, Utah never goes to the Pac12, TCU never goes to the Big12, and Boise never goes to the MWC and eventually the Big East. It is good to know that schools like USF paid their dues before going to a BCS conference. They built their progam for an eternity of 4 long years at the I-AA level, and spent a second eternity of 4 years at the FBS level as both an independent and in an "inferior conference" to the BCS. I can't wait until we have "paid our dues" at the same level USF has so we can get into a better conference too. -
Sorry for the language but I think it is a funny pic and sums up how I feel about uniform talk when we've only spent one season in our current uniforms.

I have to disagree with you. I think Texas State has done what it takes to move up to the next level. They upgraded their facilities, their coaching staff, and are already scheduled to be FBS. Other than the fact that many on here think Texas State is "beneath us", I think a Texas State game could bring the same kind of crowds and excitement we saw for the Houston game this year. Houston, TxStU, and UNT are all large public universities fighting a commuter school image. I think a rivalry with either of the two or both would be great. I also think it is neat that we have played them more than any other school. SMU will forever look down on us and will continue to duck us because they have nothing to gain by playing us(in their mind). We were lucky they scheduled the upcoming series because they wanted to boost their attendance figures to get a new conference to sniff around. They were lucky enough to have the Big East fall into their lap early but were already locked into our series. I haven't been around long enough but could some of you long-timers fill me in on the status of our program and Texas State's program back in 1994 when we last played(I know we won.)? I'm curious as to why they didn't push to be I-A back then and why we did. Were we dominating I-AA competition at the time or something? -

Texas Public Universities Certified Fall 2010 Enrollments The University of Texas at Austin ---------51,195 Texas A&M University ------------------------49,129 University of Houston -------------------------38,752 University of North Texas --------------------36,067 The University of Texas at Arlington -----32,975 Texas State University - San Marcos ---32,572 Texas Tech University ------------------------31,587 The University of Texas at San Antonio 30,258 The University of Texas at El Paso ------22,051 Texas State will soon approach us in enrollment. They have a "commuter school" reputation just like us. I don't see how we are so far superior when it makes a lot of sense to both schools to play. I know many Texas State grads. I have never met a MTSU, FIU, FAU, WKU, ArkStU, ULL, ULM, Troy, or USouthAlabama grad. -

I agree with those that chose Texas State. We have a history with them; they have an established football program; their stadium is 10 minutes from my house. I think we let UTSA play a few years to build their program and then look at the addition. They were playing against NAIA schools this year. We made FIU wait 3 years to move up(which is the fastest in history BTW). That means we should hold off on UTSA until at least the 2014 season or later. I don't think they should move up faster than FIU did. Let their recruits become upperclassmen first. -

Please, please, please, can we correct this saying? I could care less = you care to a certain degree. I couldn't care less = you don't care at all. You just said that you DO care how fun and easy the trips are. The misuse of that expression has burned me up ever since Prof. McPherson hammered it into my head. -

I'm not ancient. I'm a 2007 grad and will hate SMUt until my last breath. My hatred stems from the 2007 game at Ford stadium when some collar-poppin', pink polo wearin', d-bags called my friends and me a slur used for homosexuals that starts with the letter F. I would have loved to give him a "five knuckle introduction" but figured his legal counsel was probably WAY better than mine so we just let it go. I hate those pompous asshats like nothing else in the world. The constant garbage about North Texas Community College grads mowing their lawn only adds fuel to the fire. I hope McCarney beats them by 50 every time we play and keeps trying to score until the end of the game, just to rub salt in the wound. I hate everything about SMUt, even their carnival-barker-filled band. [/end rant]

My only hope is Brian Waters says he is from North Texas in the player introductions instead of Buck Rogers or whatever Elementary School that some players like to use.
