  1. Berglund got beat out for a JUCO job and that is the only reason he even came here.
  2. He was also ranked lower than Kiehl Frazier (a safety), Jacoby Brissett (a transfer sitting this year), Jamal Turner (a wide receiver), Michael Eubank (a backup), Jerrard Randall (starting QB for NE Miss CC completing 43% of his passes), Demarcus Smith (backup at WKU), and Michael Brewer (injured or backup at Texas Tech? nobody knows). The point is, once they leave for college, ratings no longer matter. Garrett Gilbert was supposed to be the real deal for UT and now he is helping SMU lose. Also, for a little perspective, the top player in Colorado in 2011 was Brendon Austin, an O Tackle who went to Stanford. He was rated by rivals as 206th best player in the nation. There were 27 players from Texas that were rated higher so yes, I'd say Texas football is a little tougher than Colorado. Oh, and in the Rivals 250 that year, Texas had 35 players, Colorado had 1.
  3. I know it was a tough loss but lets look at some rankings. Turnovers: Defense 3rd best TO gained Offense 73rd TO lost Total Offense/Defense: Defense 36th Total Defense Offense 70th Total Offense Redzone Offense/Defense: Defense 4th Redzone D Offense 22nd Redzone O Scoring D/O: Defense 11th best scoring D 207 pts or 18.8/game Offense 58th best scoring O 336 pts (of which 42 were scored by the D or ST) or 30.5/game If you remove the 7 TDs scored by the D or special teams and add the extra point it drops our O scoring to 287 or 26/game which would put us around 80th. The D and special teams have carried us and just because they didn't carry us to a win vs UTSA doesn't mean it should fall on them. It is time for the offense to pull some weight. Canales needs to fix this.
  4. I live in Austin and deal with condescending UT a-holes on a daily basis. I remember our game at Ford Stadium against SMU and what a bunch of d-bags they were (especially the talk on mylittleponyfans.com). I thought we were a fanbase that wished the other teams good luck and didn't belittle them or their university. I guess we can only be humble when we are getting are asses whipped year in and year out.
  5. I was hoping our fanbase could be a little classier. I don't want us to be viewed as an SMU or UT type of fanbase.
  6. UTSA can only go if there are not 70 bowl-eligible teams. There are currently 69 with 4 teams sitting at 5 wins that are favored to win this week. http://blog.mysanantonio.com/utsa/2013/11/utsas-bowl-hopes-dwindle-with-69-teams-now-eligible/
  7. It's almost as if the team looked at this game the same way as many in our fanbase did. I guess there is no such thing as a guaranteed victory (ask the Florida Gators). Hopefully the team and some of our more notorious s**t talkers learned a lesson that the games aren't played on paper.
  8. I went to a Jared store in South Austin to get my wife's ring cleaned and serviced (yes I went to Jared) and the lady said I'd need to drop it and pick it up hours later or the next day(can't remember which). As she was writing up the ticket, the guy behind the class (dude that services the jewelry) comes out after noticing my UNT hat, says he went to NT too, takes my wife's ring back and gets it done in 15 minutes. Being Mean Green got to the front of the line.
  9. You've confused me. I haven't been to campus in a few years so I don't know what things are like anymore. I haven't even seen the new business building. I trust you guys when you say we are no longer viewed by others as a commuter school.
  10. Didn't USF (where both McCarney and Canales coached) do the exact same thing?
  11. I really like the dude that comes on at the 1 minute mark. He kills it.
  12. I graduated in 2007 and we were at that time known as a commuter school (which is why I had to park at Fouts because the Premium lots were always full) and I saw plenty of other university's t-shirts on campus. UNT was the only school I applied to because it was the closest public university to my mom's house, so it was my first choice. US News says 80.7% live off campus. I thought living off-campus meant you commuted to campus but you're probably right. I love my university but it bugs me how much our fanbase is becoming like SMU's and how quickly.
  13. Are you kidding me? When did we become SMU? We won 4 games last year, I repeat 4. Your description of UTSA is exactly how everyone outside of our football fanbase views us. We ARE a commuter school and we ARE a fallback for many Dallas area students that didn't get into OU/UT/A&M etc. I can't believe what a bunch of pompous a-holes we have become just because we have a winning record for the first time in 9 YEARS! Yes they are new school and yes we will be favored in this game. However, the only thing that matters is the final score. They beat Tulane and we did not. They are fighting for their 6th win just like we did at Rice. They will be highly motivated. If our players approach this game like you guys, we will get our asses kicked. That is just the way it is. How about we shut our mouths, let the players play, and then gloat AFTER we've won the game? I hope we win as big as you guys predict but this game scares the hell out of me.
  14. In case somebody wants to bring up Keenum. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1587386-michigan-football-can-jake-ryan-apply-for-a-medical-redshirt
  15. http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/tam/genrel/auto_pdf/comp101-3-five-year-clock-ext.pdf Good explanation there.
  16. Ultimately it was inconsequential as Thompson is still starting for us as a 5th year senior.
  17. The game wasn't meaningless to Dodge. He was trying to save his job. If he direct snaps to the running back or runs out the clock and punts, he may not be on the flight home. He may have bought himself another half a season based on Thompson's potential.
  18. Bingo. You are spot on. I'm just glad to finally have to opportunity to go to a bowl game after 9 seasons of following the program. I agree with the guy who would be happy to play TWU. I just want to go to a bowl game. It would be a bonus if we beat down whoever we play. It wouldn't be such a bad thing to knock TSU-SM back down to reality.
  19. Skladany must be the love child of Buddy Ryan and Dick LeBeau. He just kills it.
  20. We don't have a bowl game in our home stadium so we can't try and drum up attendance for one of our games by piggybacking a fairly popular bowl game.
  21. http://www.meangreensports.com/allaccess/?media=402850 3:52 mark, tell Epps to STFU, Orr owns
  22. I thought I stumbled onto the SMU board for a minute. All the crap they say about us (junior college, etc.), we are now using. It is sad. I welcome a rivalry with a large Texas public university that we may actually defeat for several years. We aren't exactly a powerhouse in college football, or even in our conference for that matter. It would be nice to have another school that cared about playing us to boost ticket sales.
  23. I'm not a big basketball follower but shouldn't it be mentioned that Lebron didn't even make the playoffs the first two years of his career while Jordan was in the playoffs every year of his Bulls career.
