  1. We didn't pay that in '07 and Dodge is lumped in with McCarney when the failure moniker is thrown around here. We were lucky to get Dodge at the time. Everyone said it was a solid hire. The learning curve was just too steep and it didn't work out.
  2. So you're saying it should be easy to hire a successful candidate at 20% of the AVERAGE salary? 1/5th of what just the average guy working in that job is making? And if we hadn't been within driving distance from his house, we'd have likely been turned down by Dodge too.
  3. RV hasn't come close to that.
  4. If this push to end RV's career is successful and his replacement turns out to be worse (and living in Austin during the Patterson tenure, I know it could be SO much worse than RV), I hope everyone makes it a point to show that ‌@UNT90 and his posse forced out the most successful AD since Jitter Nolen, maybe ever. You are making a HUGE gamble here, this is a way bigger gamble then just a coach in one of three sports. You could set us back decades.
  5. I hope you know that Patterson pissed off a way bigger percentage of the UT fanbase than RV could ever hope to do at UNT. That is why Patterson was thrown out and that banner flew. It had zero to do with his hiring of coaches.
  6. Then what was the point of flying the one over SMU? How is showing support the equivalent of a participation medal? If that is the case then we shouldn't stand or cheer at any games, we should just sit there like it is a symphony.
  7. What other university has flown a "fire the AD" banner because his coaching hires didn't work out?
  8. Nobody cares about the AD because they don't know who he is unless they are a diehard like us. Regular fans don't know or care. They just want to have a good time watching the games.
  9. You guys ever heard of a champagne taste with a beer pocketbook? You guys tell me how in the wide, wide, world of sports, could any of you, regardless of how much you are paid to be the expert at hiring people, could find someone HIGHLY QUALIFIED and a sure-fire can't-miss hire to be an analyst when the average pay is over $100,000 and the top earners are making $300k while you can only pay $20k. Not only that but these candidates could also go work as a junior analyst under an average-to-top earner analysts and make $20k on average with less workload while gaining knowledge from those top analysts. Seems awfully difficult if you ask me. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/2007-12-04-coaches-pay_N.htm
  10. Outside of maybe a couple hundred people, nobody would care.
  11. I'm curious if the banner donors will feel better, worse, or the same, if the banner flies Saturday and it doesn't change anything. Any ideas?
  12. Just imagine the feeling of the players, coaches, recruits, coaching candidates, and the general fanbase if you all were to shelve the 'Fire RV' banner and instead fly the banner we flew over SMU's stadium. The amount of positivity that would envelope the program from all those people knowing that we still support them even in the program's darkest hour would likely be amazing. Just an idea.
  13. Touche Point is well taken and sustained.
  14. The first statement is ignoring the 2013 season which may have been our best team since coming back from I-AA. 2013 offense: 50th 31.8 ppg, behind Old Dominion (not in conference at the time) 7th 42.3 ppg, Marshall 8th 42.1 ppg, and ECU 9th 40.2 ppg, 2013 defense: 8th 17.8 ppg, ahead of everyone, closest conference foe Tulane at 18th with 21.4 ppg The second statement is just false. 2010 offense: 85th 23.9 ppg, ahead of WKU 89th 22.7 ppg, ULL 92nd 22.3 ppg, ULM 102nd 20.8 ppg, FAU 113th 16.8 ppg 2010 defense: 82nd 29.7 ppg, ahead of Troy 84th 30.2 ppg, ArkState 91st 30.8 ppg, ULM 97th 32.4 ppg, WKU 99th 33.2 ppg, ULL 112th 37.0 ppg, 2009 offense: 67th 26.1 ppg, behind Troy 16th 33.7 ppg, MTSU 23rd 32ppg, FAU 60th 27.4 ppg 2009 defense: 112th 35.6 ppg ahead of only WKU 119th 39.6 ppg went ahead and added as far back as they went to show that 05-06 Dickey is the only offense worse than this year's and to show that this year's defense is worse than any Todd Dodge defense, even with a high school DC. 2008 offense: 103rd 20.0 ppg, last in conference 2008 defense: 119th 47.6 ppg, dead last 2007 offense: 79th 24.8 ppg, ahead of ArkSt 84th 24.3 ppg, ULL 89th 23.8 ppg, ULM 90th 23.5 ppg, FIU 15.1 120th ppg 2007 defense: 119th 45.1 ppg, dead last, for whatever reason they have WKU on the offense list but not defense, that's why 119/120 2006 offense: 115th 12.8 ppg, ahead of FIU 119th 9.6 ppg 2006 defense: 81st 25.3 ppg, ahead of FIU 88th 26.1 ppg, 2005 offense: 113th 14.3 ppg, ahead of FAU 13.5 ppg 2005 defense: 100th 31.5 ppg, last in conference 2004 offense: 52nd 25.8 ppg, best in conference 2004 defense: 82nd 29.7 ppg, ahead of Utah State 83rd 30.3 ppg, NMSU 97th 32.3 ppg, ArkSt 102nd 33.2 ppg, Idaho 113th 39.4 ppg
  15. Not near as bad as the dumpster fire of buyouts Michigan had to endure.
  16. Might be unpopular but I'd run a Mac-free Chico offense and a Skladany defense. I'd put money on us going bowling every year.
  17. Are we sure he'd have come here? Jimbo Fisher @‌ FSU:His contract initially guaranteed a base salary of $215,000 with incentives increasing the total package into the low $400,000 range.[ Todd Dodge @‌ NT:Because the contract begins Dec. 26 and runs through August 2012, Dodge actually will receive six years of base salary at $185,000 per year, with annual 5 percent increases starting in 2008. His base pay over five seasons averages $241,448. Dodge's $75,000 per year in guaranteed compensation includes a $30,000 radio stipend, $20,000 in end-of-season deferred money and $25,000 for North Texas maintaining its NCAA certification, Division I-A status and Sun Belt Conference membership. He'll also receive an annual $6,000 car allowance.
  18. Many Aggies wanted Groff gone well before his 10 year tenure was up. Most Longhorns wanted Deloss gone prior to Mack Brown's hiring.
  19. since November '08? 1.5 seasons of Dodge (3-16 record), 4 seasons of JJ(3 20-win seasons, 1 NCAA appearance, 84-46 record) .5 seasons of Canales (2-3 record), 3 seasons of Shanice Stephens (25-67 record) Apogee Stadium, 4.5 seasons of McCarney(1 9-win season, 1 bowl victory, 22-32 record), 1 season of Karen Aston (15-16 record), 3 seasons of Mike Peterson (28-61 record), 3 seasons of Benford (42-53 record). (221-294 overall record ~43% in big 3 sports, 1 NCAA tourney appearance, 1 bowl win, and a new stadium). How'd I do?
  20. I wasn't trying to say anything bad about 90 or that he can't change his mind. I just thought the difference in his opinion over the 7 years was noteworthy. He went from an ardent defender to hatchet man #1, I found it entertaining. Nothing wrong with it. I've probably changed my mind on a ton of stuff on here too. I also find it interesting that we didn't have 17 big donors to pick on in 2008. It seems from this thread (and the inability to buyout TD's contract) we barely had donors at all.
  21. History can be fun.
  22. For a group that is so vocal and loud as to have a banner flown advocating the firing of someone over our home football stadium during a home game for our players, fans, and recruits to see, there sure are a bunch of anonymous donors.
  23. I just want to point out that Dr. Pohl hired RV so some of you may be interested in changing your votes.
  24. That's awesome!
